Antique spindles that measure 10" long x 1-3/8" square. They are dirty from years of storage, but will clean up nicely. You are buying the pictured crate of 100 matching spindles for one price. This is a first for us- CEMENT balusters- circa 1920-1930's vintage. GREAT urn style& have center hollow point- making usage for a lamp SIMPLE! They measure 27" tall& are a very beefy 6" square on the base& 5" diameter at the top. Some of the tops have a slightly uneven and even small chips. Victorian black walnut newel baluster stair railing SET
An awesome BLACK walnut stair spindle set with HUGE newel post. Salvaged from a circa 1880 home near SHARON SPRINGS NY- this set has a great set of spindles- they measure 31" high x 1 7/8" square- there are approx. 45 spindles. There is ONE broken spindle- in two pieces- can be repaired! The railing is three sections- one is 77" long- this is the straight piece that ends into the Newel. The second piece is 76" long and has a turn in it for the top of the stairs. The third section is a 90 degree angled piece with sections that are 46& 47" long after the curve. This would have been for the hall area at the top of the stairs. The railings are 4.5" wide. SOLID! The newel post is 42" high- it is 6.75" diameter on the base& a 8" diameter measurement across the top. There is a 4.5" long piece ... morethat would have been below the floor! The entire stair tread system was cut out of the house. In order to transport it. It was cut at the turn part, it is in TWO sections. All spindles. Newel& railing is made of black walnut- retain original finish, never stripped or painted! Would look awesome re-used! Let me know if I missed something! American Victorian Gothic Curved Oak Church Altar or Choir Baluster Pair: This is a twin pair of church choir balusters. I bought these at Red Baron Auctions in Atlanta(rbantiques dot com) These are solid oak with mahogany stain and have a wonderful gothic design. Each baluster is 125" long x 17" wide x 38" tall. They are in very good sound condition however they require having their finish restored. They are sturdy and make quite a statement. They are intended for indoor use. However, they could be adapted to outside use with the right amount of work put into it. The pictures were rotated in iPhoto and appear correct in my file. Selling ONE lot of 26 porch spindles These are NOT the tradition porch railing spindles- but instead components that went to a very ELABORATE porch entrance surround. Salvaged in western, PA- outside of Pittsburgh- they were part of a very large, ornate- nearly bubble formed surround on a grand victorian home. When I bought the contents of this porch surround I was promised the pictures to see it prior to demo- unfortunately this never happened& I never received the pictures. While it was not ideal to parce out the components to this porch set- these balusters. Antique Victorian Porch Balustrades Balusters Railing 24" High & 3" wide 1900
Up for sale are antique victorian stype Balustrade from a mansion built in Bath Maine around 1900. It was built by Honory Albert H. Shaw. In 1936 the home was sold after the death of Albert Shaw and became the Sedgwick Inn. The hotel was named after Sedgwick Place. The junction of High St. Centre and Court streets which contained a soldiers momument built to honro Cival War veterans of the Sedgwick Post, Grand Army of the Republic. The post was named after Gen John Sedgwick, the highest ranking officer killed in the war. It burned down in 1973. Information on the mansion was that the front 2 level porch was build of ash. These balusters might also be built of ash- the actual wood used is not known. These balustrade were said to have been salavaged from that building and were later used on another porch. These were acquired by a family member ... morewhen the porch was rebuilt. There are about 30 of these balustrades available for sale and pick up in Wiscasset. Maine 04578. They measure 24" high and are 3" square at the top and base. The condition is good considering the age. There are some chips and gouges and in some area the paint is pealing. I do have pictures of the Inn that does show the these railings. I also have the full history of the family who build the mansion and the history of the property over the years. I can provide this information to any interested buyer. We would be willing to ship a small quantity of say 2 to 4 at an additional cost to cover the shipping. I understand that these are popular as candle holders. This would be great for a porch restoration or even used in a garden back drop. Has lots of potential! We bought these spindles for the front porch of our house from an architectural hardware store. Unfortunately. After we got them home we realized that we need more like 60 of them, and the cost of having additional copies made is cost prohibitive. They are a very pretty, traditional design. They are in reasonably good shape for their age but will require some sanding and wood filler in spots. We are willing to ship however the buyer wants and will not charge extra for packing them. We estimate it will cost around $50, possibly less, to ship them.
