Also there are nail holes in the ends(see photo#6) They are 18" in length and the square ends are 1 7/8" x 1 7/8" I have 20 of these available so if anyone would like to purchase more than 6. Lot of 8 vintage wood porch or stair spindles/ turnings w/ finials craft salvage This lot is unusual in that the spindles all have a matching finial on the top. Not sure what they were used for. They all were set in a square opening at one time. They have square tops and bottoms, with turned areas in between, and the finial is separate. Some of the finials are loose, could be glued on. They were once stained and varnished, show some wear from use and storage, not bad and could be used as is, or easily be stripped and refinished or painted. Not sure of the type of wood, maybe pine. For your Consideration: Antique/Vintage stair balusters 17 units in all. 2 different lengths. You are buying one at a time 12 pieces around 30 1/8 inches from the bottom of the square section to the upper tip. 5 pieces around 26 1/2 inches from the bottom of the square section to the upper tip. Bottom Square Section Measures 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" wide x 2 1/4"H One unit has a piece of wood missing.see picture. I am not a wood expert. But these appear to be made of mahogany. I would date these around 1875 or so.machine made. The fluting is concave. And is also tapered.a really nice shape. There is some paint.one coat on a few. Antique walnut and pine stair part that have been carefully removed and stored. The handrail measures 2 1/8" tall and 4" wide. There are 38 long spindles[31" to 32" and 16 short spindles[ 27" to 28" all walnut. The walnut rail pc that connects to the bottom octagon post is 13' 3" and it is spliced towards the bottom end. The 2 balcony boards that have the walnut scrollwork on it are 8'8" and 47" by 10" wide and there is one half circle pc and one quarter circle pc[Both have the scrollwork on them] and the balcony rail pc is around 10' 3" not counting the"wings" on the rail. There are walnut caps to cover the ends of the treads and risers. There are no treads and risers included. The rise and run of the stair is 7 7/8" by 9 1/4" The baseboard that would ... morego below the paneled section is not pictured. But it would go with these parts. The condition is used and there are some splits and cracks here and there. There are some small missing pcs, but for the most part it is pretty complete. I have some other unique trim and doors salvaged from this house that I may have for sale also. Any questions, just ask.

I am also listing two newel posts that were removed from the same staircase. You can see them in my other auctions. There are 3 balusters that have flat bottoms as opposed to the slanted ones that were going up the staircase. They measure 30 5/8' There are 13 balusters with the slanted bottoms(shown in the middle) They measure 30¼' There are 10 slanted bottom ones(shown on the right) that measure 26 3/4' The'turned area' on ALL of the spindles measures 18' The tops are 1 3/4" square. All measuring approximately 27" long, to replace broken or missing balusters or to create a new, antique-look stairway or balcony. These balusters have just been removed from a 1900 row house in Yonkers. NY. They appear to be solid hardwood- most probably oak- and are all painted white, but have some chips in the paint. This will require either a light sanding and repainting or complete stripping to bare wood and refinishing. Some still have finishing nails, indicating their age may not be as far back as 1910, but all appear to be at least 50 years old, but with the exception of the paint surface, in very good condition. We believe these to be made of oak. But we are not experts. They are a salvage item from an 1800s farmhouse stairway; some have nails in them and there is some remaining paint on them. Some have slight cracks in terms of the ends. But the basic units appear to be intact. Sold as is. See photographs. Square tops and bottoms measure inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter.

This lot salvaged from an 1880's Brownstone includes fou r newel posts. Three railings 114" 100" and 80" long. There are 30 thirty inch tall spindles/balusters(stair railings) and 13 twenty six inch tall spindles/blausters(landing railing) I have included a photo where I easily scratched off the paint to show the natural color and grain. Which appears to be oak. Part of the lot was for the stair railing, the rest for the landing railing. I will also send 2 or 3 other spindles which were broken. Up for auction these 13 Vintage Wooden Balusters/Spindles. The pictures should give you all the info. you need. They're in nice vintage condition and the wood appears to be sound. There are 10 that have angle cuts on the ends(approx. 26 ½” long point to long point) and 3 that are cut square on the ends(approx. 25 ½” long) One of the pictures shows the length. They are approx. 1 9/16” to 1 5/8” square. The one with square cuts ends and most of the paint missing was probably outside as it’s fairly rough with raised grain. The one with angle cut ends and missing/chipping paint has smooth wood and doesn’t look to have been outside like the one mentioned prior. Please consider the pictures part of the description. antique victorian or earlier baluster banister& spindles. salvage from an old house. not walnut not cherry. it is the color old cherry would be so it is probably poplar.
