Large Vintage 1920s FOLK ART Metal GIRL IN GARDEN WATERING Weathervane
Description ANTIQUE/VINTAGE GARDEN GIRL WEATHERVANE Charming vintage metal silhouette style weather vane measuring 19-1/4" long and almost 9" tall. Featuring a woman in bonnet and period clothing holding a huge watering can with long spout- stylized water pours though the head and quenches several blooming flowers. Metal appears to be either brass or copper- it has a dark patina from age. And it's hard to tell- vane is sturdy and non-pliable- cut outs are mounted into a rather crudely rolled tube base that is held together by three screws- there is a hole in the tube middle bottom for mounting on a vertical stand(no longer present) small holes are pierced in the flower heads and on top of the bonnet. I believe this is a home project, made circa 1920- condition is very good with no bends, breaks or damage other than normal patina ... moreto the metal and although it appears as if a side is missing from one flower, it was made that way- edges are all smooth from age. Just a charming large silhouette image of a woman in her garden- purchased in Ohio, I've had it hanging on the wall for years, but it could easily be mounted for display as a weather vane. 3 Vintage Glass Lightning Rod Insulators
These old insulators are 1 7/8 inches high and have a 1 inch hole inside and a 1 1/2 inch outside diameter. They look to be clear or kind of a light yellowish in color. 2 of them have the knob to hold them in the stand and one of them has it broken off. All 3 have some chipping but they will still work fine to hold the rod. You are buying all 3 for one money and there is no reserve.

ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART WOODEN SWAN WEATHERVANE ORIGINAL PAINT AAFA
Freshly found. This wonderful swan or hissing goose folk art weathervane has a fabulous, strong presentation in its folky form. Measuring approximately 39” in total length by 11” wide at the widest and about one inch thick, I believe it hails from the first quarter of the 20 th century. The old repairs along the wing and the base appear to have been put in to stabilize cracks that had begun. But not travelled. The neck either had been a separate piece, or had sheared off at some point as it too, has the old pinned repairs. It does fit well when pushed in place but still wobbles, and will need reinforcement along the old pin shadows that have fallen out to make him fully secure again. I’ve left him as shown to show where the old pins had attached. Very, very cool form. Antique ORIGINAL copper/iron/milk glass WHITE ball LIGHTENING ROD complete
This is one of the original lightening rods that was on the roof of the old farm that we bought in MI. The farm was built in 1912. The tripod used to attach it to the peak of the roof is made of iron. The tripod legs straddle the peak and are attached with screws. The pointed post is made of copper and has a lovely. Aged patina. The glass ball is made of white milkglass. I do not see any markings of any kind on this ball. The total thing stands 5 feet 5" tall with the tripod going straight down. The ball is about 4" in diameter. The heavy metal ground wire went from one lightening rod to the next and finally down the corner of the house and was securely anchored in the ground several inches with a long metal stake. One of them is near pure white and it’s embossed National on the front. It has some damage to the top edge which is common on these pieces. The other has a purple tint that might just be from 100 years of sun exposure and it’s marked ELECTRA on the front. Has some minor chipping as well at the top but lots of times they were manufacture with those chips. Great set and guaranteed old. Measure about 4½" wide. Vintage Auth: Solid cast iron weathervane horse with Motion and makers mark
Antique Weathervane Horse. An old barn find.I believe to be the early 1900's or maybe later 1800's? I am not a weathervane expert so I am trying to present the best information I can.The entire weathervane is made of cast iron, since a magnet sticks to all pieces. This weathervane has a great finish from decades of exposure to the elements. Rain, sleet, snow, lightning, and birds. It measures 34" from the top of the horses head to the bottom of the base. The horse is 8"wide by 7"high, and the arrow is 12" wide. There is a makers mark on the bottom of the base but after a month of research, I still don't know who it belongs to. This"Dog" Weathervane as illustrated and described in the Book. Yankee Weathervanes, written by Myrna Kaye is made from the original A.J.Harris& Sons Cast Iron Molds. Also described and pictured in Yankee Weathervanes. We at New England Weathervane Shop are privileged to be the stewards of the largest working antique weathervane mold collection in the United States. This particular Weathervane. The Dog, was originally produced by A.J.Harris& Co. later Harris& Co. Boston, Mass. From about 1870 to 1881, and originally sold for $25.00. It was then produced by W.A Snow Co. Boston, Mass. from 1883 to 1940. A white metal version owned by the Smithsonian was probably made by Snow in the 20th century. The Molds were then acquired around 1940 by E.G.Washburne. 207 Fulton St, New York, NY. E.G.Washburne was purchased by Ralph ... moreand Teresa Raynard in 1956 and renamed E.G.Washburne& Co. The rod measures, as you see it unextended 40" but EXTENDS TO 46 inches. No pieces missing. There is a slight dent in a little part of the rod near the top halt, nothing that takes away aesthetically or structurally.but I got to mention it on eBay. Also the glass ball is dirty. It can be easily cleaned, I just did not have time. Just off a barn in central Iowa where it's stood for over 90 years. 55 1/2" Tall. Arrow with man in jalopy is 24 3/4" long with the car itself 10" long and 5" high. Car is aluminum. Arrow and 3 shafts to legs are cast iron and are weathered. No breaks. Lightning rod is copper which has verdigris with time. Only problem is the ring under the arrow has split. Does not affect it in any way. Could be replaced. This is"as found" condition with a great old surface from age and exposure. Very folk art in appearance. In this auction we have another nice weathervane. It is a vintage Copper Rooster Weathervane with the wind directional arrow and the east. West, north and south markers. The arrow is 23-1/2" inches long and the rooster itself is 19 inches tall x 16 inches wide. It measures 31-1/2" from the top of the roosters comb to the bottom of the lower ball. I have decided to sell my“prized” rooster weathervane. I have had this vane for about 5 years and have enjoyed it every minute. It is now time for some else to enjoy it. This piece was bought from a private collection in Mass. I believe this rooster dates to the mid 19 th century. This piece has a wonderful form and great oxidation to the copper. The top of the piece down to the breast has a wonderful smooth surface from the rain and snow. The feathers are cut out and wrap around to the back of the bird they look 3D. Absolutely original and right! This piece measures including the stand 25” High 28.5” from beak to tail and the base measures approximately 16” long. This stand is included with the Rooster. Please'click' each individual image for enlargements of details including the great period construction and patina! Thanks! Dating circa 1880-1920. This wonderful piece of folk art was recently purchased by us out of an estate near Philadephia Pennsylvania. We concur with the former owners in the thought the vane was likely to have resided on a building which housed a chimney sweeping service in the Philadelphia area during the turn of the 19th century. This allowed the piece the service of acting as a trade sign as well as a weathervane. As you can see the profile of the piece is a striking sillohette of a chimney sweep. The personage bearing a period top hat, and sporting ... morea tailcoat. In the sweepers hands he holds the tools of his trade, a flue brush and a ladder. Another specific element of great folk art is the blacksmith who created this piece included the profile of a cat on the edge. Complete with pointed ears, and a charming curled tail. The construction of the piece showcases great original ironwork. The blacksmith formed out the design of the weathervane in flat iron. And reinforced the back with wrought strap iron support brackets including three areas where a rod could pass through(see images) Over the course of time. The piece was painted with several layers of paint, mostly in shades of green. If you click the individual images you'll see you can produce enlargements which allow for a better presentation of the surface and original construction. You'll see that overtime and exposure to the elements the paint has flaked on the piece creating a wonderul'alligatored' finish. The metal beneath the paint. Also exposed over decades has pitted at some areas, creating a wonderful patina. One of the other aspects that make this one of the best examples we've ever encountered is the size. It looks to be made entirely of brass but has oxidation over it. However, the fletching(where the feathers would be) is made of aluminium to catch the wind. I have seen another one of these on ebay before so I know the aluminum part is correct to the vane. There are four old bullet holes in the fletchings part of the arrow. This is shown in the photographs, as is some rust on the steel base mount. The arrow weathervane is in all original condition and came from an old farm building on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Vintage Weather Vane Directional Arrows with Roof Ridge Mount
This old weather vane is 24 inches tall from the bottom of the roof mount to the top. The directional arrows are 17 inches long. There is lots of discoloring and it has never been cleaned so I don't know what the metal is. The rod from the roof mount to the ball and arrows is rusted. The ball looks like copper and has a dent in on sideand its 4.5 inches circumference. Very heavy and so shipping will depend on zip code but arrangements can be made to pick it up.

This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. A great piece for the barn or house roof or used inside mounted as a classic primitive. Make sure you use the zoom feature to see the great detail. This is an old antique medium purple milk glass lightning rod ball. It measures 4 1/2" across and the rod hole is 1" It is in great condition with no cracks or breaks. Set of Vintage Copper Lightning Rod Supports
Up for auction is this vintage set of copper lightning rod supports. The pieces are in pretty good used condition. They go around the rod and are attached with a set screw and the bottom parts wrap around the copper wire where it runs across the roof top. This one is powder blue milk glass. It is 3 3/4 inches in diameter and a total of 5 inches tall. The inside diameter of the rod hole is 7/8 of an inch. This one is in very good shape for it's age with minor chips on the ends where the insulators are placed. That seems to be pretty normal for these balls. Because of the condition of this one. NEAR ANTIQUE. NOT A REPRO or NEW. My guess is 1940's? It is not dated. Its made from Zinc/ White metal I think. Its large and comes with the FULL-Bodied ROOSTER Figure. The orig directionals, and the mounting pole. IT MEASURES A WHOPPing 33" tall approx, overall x 29" wide x 2 1/2" thick at the bird. The Rooster is AWESOME! Thick. Full Bodied. 3 dimentional. His legs and feet look real. His tail is separated at the back between the two halves of the casting. Im not sure if thats on purpose? It does accentuate the natural shape of the tail, either way. Weathervane Windmill with Rooster on Top from Montana Ranch-Antique
This old unit needs some TLC on the windmill. However, the rooster and wind tail are in nice vintage galvanized shape. Someone that wants to restore the windmill could do it with some tin snips, a drill and a little time to make up the blades and braces that are missing. The hub bearings appear to be o.k. as it spins. It was mounted on and is an old galvanized pipe. We will ship by taking the windmill off the weathervane and laying all flat in strong cardboard. This unit is off a ranch in West Montana. A lot of history in this one. It weighs 20 lbs. of metal. The total length is about 3' the wind tail is 18" x 18" and the windmill is about 32" in diameter when complete.

Antique Horse Weathervane, arrow, original old bullet holes AMERICANA FOLK ART
You are bidding on a TOTALLY AUTHENTIC AMERICANA FOLK ART antique Horse Weather Vane. That is made out of some kind of metal alloy and mounted on an iron arrow and once used as a weather vane. IT LOOKS GREAT mounted on a wall. The piece has wonderful, artistic lines- it's 28" long from the tip of the arrow to the end; the height is 12" from the tip of the horse's ears to the bottom of the arrow; and the horse itself is 13" long, but would be 2" or so longer if his front leg were still attached to the metal mounting. The appears to be some of carousel or circus horse, as there is a sculpted band around its middle. THE ARROW HAS AMAZING PATINA, and both it and the horse are obviously very old and weathered. There are several bullet holes in the horse- it obviously was used as target practice out there on the range- ... moreand the horse is also missing most of his legs from the knees down.
