The rod is intact on both. But feels brittle. We moved it a little, but did not want to risk breaking anything. Once these are in place they don't need to adjust, but if you want them to move really well and still be adjustable, you could replace the threaded wood with metal parts. There are some pieces missing. But all could be made by woodworker with basic skills. There are some pieces chipped off the crown and we hae 2 of those pieces, but not all. There is wear to the varnished and painted surface. This is a genuine, Victorian era, window cornice. Still has old hooks and loops in back. Especially striking is that this walnut piece has no less than 3 stain colors! This item for auction is a Re-claimed White"Wood" Valance- 52 1/2" long. 13 3/4" high, 1 1/2" thick. Valance looks to be hand crafted in my opinion. Victorian Interior Window/Door Pediment~Curtains/Blinds/Valance~Flowers & Leaves
From our non-smoking home… Wonderful old Window or Door pediment. Made to cover or hang either shades, curtain hardware, or valances. They also are great for putting above a door to hang Porteries to be able to partition off a doorway without a door, either for heat or privacy. This pediment is made with a central floral medallion. With bellflowers or leaves decreasing in size towards the edges. The top has egg-and-dart molding, and the bottom a smaller version. The piece retains its beautiful old gold paint. Now with a beautiful patina. Leave as is, or make it your own. I have cleaned them up a little, but there is still some detail cleaning around the decorative pieces that I’ll leave for the new owner. This and another that I have listed came out of the attic of my grandparents home in Garden City. A beautiful stately stone home. Antique Pressed Brass Curtain Valance Shelf The beautiful valance features gilt pressed brass over a wooden frame. Originally used for a curtain valance. But has potential for a variety of applications. As you can see, it can be mounted on a wall as a narrow display shelf. It would also work well over a work of art with lighting hidden behind it. It could also be installed above the head of a bed for a dramatic drapery valance headboard. It measures 35 1/2" long. 5" high, and 5" deep. It is in excellent condition with only a couple of small dents to the brass. And a very nice warm patina.

Antique Pressed Brass Bed Crown Curtain Valance Shelf The beautiful valance features gilt pressed brass over a wooden frame. The wooden frame features a lovely finished underside with decorative wood moldings. The valance is curved on the front with straight sides. Originally used for as a drape tester over a bed. But has potential for a variety of applications. It can be mounted on a wall as a display shelf, or table. It could also be installed above the head of a bed for a dramatic drapery valance headboard. It measures 54" wide. 25" deep, and 9 1/2" high at the back, with the brass skirt measuring 5" high. It is in excellent condition with only a couple of small dents to the brass. Large Cast Iron Topper Rococo Style Door Crest Gate Valance Rust Faux Finish
This is a large door or gate topper. Great to place above a door or entry way. It is in the Rococo style. It measures about 13 by 37" This one is hand faux finished in a leathery rust finish. I can also get these in plain cast steel with no finish if you prefer. Just ask. It weighs about 14 pounds. This piece is double faced meaning the back side is not flat. These are rarely offered on Ebay. I believe these are from the Victorian Gilded Age. They would have probably been used as a Cornice box for curtains. Part of a fireplace mantle or a perhaps even a ceiling border similar to baseboards on a floor only at the top of the wall, serving the function of a wallpaper border in an affluent, Victorian Manor. ~ Two Antique Copper/Brass Window Valances ~ I recently brought these charming antique valences home from a wonderful original late 1800's homestead estate ~ It was classic Victorian from top to bottom and boy.What fun we all had.it was so hard to leave! Each valance is 58" long and made from a 1" thick plank that's beveled on one side similar to crown molding. Then covered with thin 15" x 4 1/4" lengths of deeply embossed/raised relief copper.carefully matched& fastened by copper tacks At first I thought perhaps it was a colored tin. But seeing that the underside has the same coppery tone(only slightly brighter) I'm thinking it's copper or a copper/brass mix Love the touches of old blue rust on the well-aged patina! Originally padded and wrapped with fabric beneath the copper. There are only tiny remnants ... morenow. But at least 50 old rusty tacks remain on each board to show where it was once attached One valence still includes the long iron dowel for hanging sheers or drapes Please be sure to view& enlarge each picture for greater detail ~ Questions are encouraged. MAJESTIC! Tiger Oak Acanthus Window Valance Carved Victorian Furniture Pediment
Highest quality. Salvaged header that money can buy! Quarter sawn, tiger oak with fantastic patina. Guaranteed antique and not a reproduction. Near perfect condition. Large size makes it a great opportunity to use as a window valance. I have had similar over wood blinds for many years. It has wide cornice trim along the top. Below are 3 recessed panels framed with beveled trim. In the outside 2, are raised beveled panels with acanthus leaf and round flower medallions. In the middle recessed panel are more acanthus carvings and a dramatic center crest with segmented egg. Along the sides of the recessed panels are 4 contoured corbel brackets. Rare Antique 1800s Victorian Embossed Tin Over Wood 39" Window Valance Pediments
This is a very rare find its three sections of embossed gilded tin over wood. They overlap to make it look like it's one long piece. It dates back to the Victorian days and is approx. 391/2" long and about 5"high. I bent back a couple sections so you can see what it looks like under the paint. LARGE! 1860s Burl Walnut Furniture Pediment Eastlake Carved Window Valance Panel
This is a WHOPPER! Circa 1800s. Architectural header. Perfect as a window valance, especially over wood blinds. This is high Victorian quality at its best. It has side columns at each end with Eastlake inscribed triangles at the bottom, parallel vertical grooves above, then beveled cornice trim with arch on top. All along the bottom is bull nose trim with more Eastlake inscribed carving near each end. Further up is sawtooth trim of real burled walnut. Beveled cornice trim directly above that. Ornate spindles at each end with a large burled walnut panel in between. The burled walnut panel has a diamond medallion near the spindles and a small beveled, burled walnut medallion in the middle. Fantastic. Architectural salvage piece. Very high quality, Victorian style. Mostly quarter sawn oak construction. Approx. 100 years old. It has 3 beveled recessed panels that are nicely framed. The outside 2 have round medallions. The middle one has 5 raised beveled panels. The diamond in the middle has a dramatic acanthus carving. Tons of possibilities with a little imagination!
