These panels were purchased in France and date to the late 1800's/early 1900's. We believe that they were originally made in India. They are made from ... moresolid teak and painted on most of the sides. The paint has flaked off in several places giving them a wonderful rustic look. Overall these panels are in good antique condition with the usual amount of nicks and scratches. Note that one of the panels has a crack in the frame and there are a couple of holes drilled into other panels (see photos). Dimensions: each panel is between 78"-77.5" high, 29.5"-26" wide and 1.5"-2" thick.

The pieces formed a lintel across the top of the interior entrance doorway of the Women's House of Detention. The Jail was located at 6th Ave behind the present Jefferson Market Public Library which was originally a courthouse. The New York Women's House of Detention is believed to have been the world's only art deco prison. It was designed by Sloan and Robertson in 1931 and opened to the public with a luncheon on March 29. 1932. The courthouse. And jail, ... morethe latter which was subsequently opened in 1934(demolished 1973) was the scene of the notorious Harry K Thaw murder trial of renowned architect Stanford White in 1906. The motto in a scroll at the bottom reads"UT ALII DORMIANT" which was also the motto for the Diepenbroick Infantry of the Hanoverian army in the mid 18th Century. The crest above the helmet is of a Crane holding a rock. Signifying vigilance. The elements of the shield are two more vigilant cranes above an unidentified tree. I have been unable to trace the family name that this coat of arms belongs to except for associating the motto with the Hanoverian army. The plaque is made from a cast metal with a brass colour to the front. It has six pins to the rear which were probably used for fixing in its original position. Up for auction are a pair of antique repurposed iron metal strap hinges converted to a pair of candle sconces recently found at auction in the Lancaster County. PA area. They are painted black have a nice primitive look. Brass end caps were added to hold the candle. It will accommodate a 7/8" candle. Both hinges attract a magnet and are cast iron. Each measures approx 21" by 1 7/8" at its widest point. Great for a steampunk project or to be reused in any architectural setting. Rare 1880s eagle plaster mold.
This is a rare 19 th Century mold for the production of plaster decorative eagles for walls. Furniture or picture frames. It is composed of some sort of ceramic or hardened pottery. And measures 11 ¼” by 6 ½” by 1” The reverse side has a couple of tabs with holes– presumably to attach to a retaining device. They are currently used to hold picture wire for hanging. The surface appears to be a brown and black lacquer type paint. It has two chipped areas on the upper back edge. But not noticeable when hung. This is a very unique and attractive decoration for home or office. And a great addition to any eagle collection.

Three old plow shares/blades. Growing up I watched my grandfather plow our family land with an old grey mule until he could no longer. These are the first three of MANY I dug out of the old barn he used that I will be listing of all shapes and sizes. The three pictured are the actual blades you are bidding on. They are all between 1/4" 5/8" thick. The largest is 10" X 4" Second is 7&1/2" X 3, and the smallest is 8" X 2" All three are dirty with surface rust and pitting. I picked up this big(26" tall. 13" wide Gaslight new in the box a few years ago from an old lady that used to sell and install gas lights. She had a storefront in Kansas from the forties through the sixties. The glass globe is wrapped in a Kansas City newspaper from 1973. WOW! I believe that it potentially could be 60 years old. A comparable model these days would probably run you at least 6-7 hundred. This lamp is got brass parts all over it. The majority of the metal is aluminum so it really will not corrode.You can tell each individual part was painted separately. They simply just do not make anything like this these days. This lamp fixture will fit on any outdoor lamp post and can easily be converted to electricity. This lamp is complete there are no parts missing. I'm certain of this. This is a quite stunning wooden oak pediment with the female head centrally with other relief carvings of acorns and leaves of which: During our research we have been informed it dates from the mid period of the 19th century and is of black forest origin. Dates about c1840. Relief carvings of the oak leaves and acorns to either side of: The quite stunning head of the female with the surrounding carvings. A ribbon to the base centrally. Rectangular in shape with the carved arch above with the end sections. The pediment has an overall size of about 40.5 x 19inches. Max depth of about 3inches. Condition: Considering the age. The overall condition is excellent centrally with an end section needing to be put back into position, of which is quite easy to achieve with basic woodworking skills. All as per pictures. Sometimes I list items that I find in one of the 700 boxes that are slowly being unpacked. This item. Has a rather different story. I saw a unusual looking"thing" when I was looking at an old wood lathe I had seen on Craigslist. It was old. The barn it was in was old, the man who had used the lathe was so old he had died from old age. I asked what the"thing" was, and was told it was a hay"spear.harpoon. I asked what did that do? I was then told how"back in the day" the trolley system used to store hay into, and get out of tall barns. I decided I needed to get the entire hay"system" and put it in my office. Which has a high wood beamed ceiling, much like a barn. I bought the lathe, and the double hay harpoon. Then I had to find a trolley. I know they are on Ebay, but I wanted to find the old barn ... moreand get it down myself. this is one of those things where"be careful of what you wish for. is sooo true. I found the trolley. In the old 100 year old barn, wood roof had holes in it, wood floor on the loft was rotten. But.there was the trolley, and the railing. Yep, there it was. way.way.way up there. in the dark corner looking down at me.taunting me. I drove the 50 mile trip home trying to think of a way to achieve the feat of getting at something 50 feet in the air. In a falling down barn. I began assembling my items I thought I needed. I did consider starting a small fire. a small one. and maybe the fire dept. would have a ladder truck.on the scene. and maybe. Just maybe. No, that would be wrong, and bad, and maybe a felony. or something. I will leave out the elaborate scaffolding I erected. But, think of teetering wood pallets, stacked up.and up.and up.
