Wrought Iron Wheels Cast Iron Hubs Matched Set on Axle Shaft Hit Miss Steampunk
This is a beautifully matched set of old wrought iron wheels. Still spinning freely on their original axle shaft. The shaft looks to be about a 1 inch diam. solid iron bar, about 24 inches long. The wheel diameter is about 18 inches. The hubs are oversized cast iron and still have grease in them. The spokes are wrought iron also. I did not see any obvious signs of distress such as cracks. Welds, breaks, heaviliy corroded etc. so I think we're goo to go on these. I also have a lot of other iron wheels. Some are a matched pair, but I don't recall ever seeing an axle shaft of this size. It's a little unusual, must have been some heavy weight for this size hub and shaft. Would probably work real well on a hit or niss engine or other old farm display. The rims have a slight crown to them- they roll very easily. Could also be used for ... morea set of steering wheels, since the geometry of the curved iron wheel rim will allow easy turning. Antique solid teak door with top and bottom openings and wonderful turquoise
This is one of my favorite antiques we have from our 30 years filming. It is an antique 4 panel door from India. The outside has slight traces of old turquoise paint but the inside has a beautiful pattern of old paint with true paint patina. After using it for years as a set prop. I used it for a few years as a wall hanging. I would be keeping it but we are shooting a feature and using our home as part of the location sets and it has to go. It is so beautiful hung on a large wall. Antique architectural salvage cast iron overdoor pediment
This heavy cast iron overdoor pediment came from a local estate. It is cast in heavy cast iron and has seen several paint incarnations and is in the style of Louis XVI. The current one is gold over a dark translucent brown. The overall effect is quite stunning and will certainly stand out on any gable or over a door as intended. The piece is intact with no defects. Just several layers of paint. Measurements are: 30" by 11 ½" and 1 ½" deep.

You would see the star on the exterior of the building, then the shaft would go thru the wall attached to a cable or lumber, going from one end to the other with another star or spinner on the exterior of the opposite side. Often just thought of as just decoration, but they have a very useful purpose. All are in good condition. With nice green and cream colors. Very nice examples. ANTIQUE BRASS & WOOD SPRAYER GADGET FOR WATERING PLANTS, MADE BY DEAKINS, PHILA
We have an interesting gadget or device that we have analyzed to determine its purpose as it is not labeled with a name to let us in on its secrets! We have concluded that it is a watering device for spraying water up so that hanging plants can be watered. The photographs show the device disassembled into its several parts and then all together. One photo shows the nozzle end attached to one of the side rings. At one end there is a turned wooden handle that can be pulled in and out. The brass rod inside the brass cylinder moves with the motion of the handle and has a worn rubber coating or ring on the larger part of the end nearest the nozzle end to create a better seal so that water can be pulled into the cylinder. The spraying nozzle end has a central larger diameter hole which is surrounded by tiny holes. When the nozzle end is put into ... morea container of water and the handle is pulled out. Water is pulled in. Then the device is raised and aimed at where you want the water to go. The handle is pushed back in and a spray of water emerges. The rubber ring inside is worn so that it is not as tight as it originally would have been when it was first made so it doesn't hold the water perfectly inside before spraying it out. There are two threaded rings on the sides which we have analyzed as to their purpose. The threaded spraying head or nozzle is the same diameter as the side rings and fits on the rings. We are theorizing that the side rings were for attaching and storing different styles of spraying nozzles. Our piece only has the one spraying nozzle head that is attached on one end but I photographed that same head attached to a side ring so that viewers can see what I mean about how it will attach to the side. The maker's mark is in raised print as shown in the accompanying photograph. It reads. Robt. T. Deaken& Co. No. 5, Makers. In its shortest position with the handle pushed all the way in. Tanned skinned, smiling young woman wearing a headband and red rose in her hair. Original, round wire loop hanger at top. No stamps, numbers or markings. Condition shows much paint loss and piece is very dusty. Mold has no chips. Cracks or damage but this young lady has some miles on her. Paint loss is heaviest around the nose and cheeks. Set of 6 Antique Graduated Georgian Servants Bells
Description All removed from the same property dated around 1820 this set of bronze bells all have a graduated tone. They were probably originally part of larger set these 6 were probably for one floor of the house. All the original cast iron mounting spikes, carriages, return springs and decorations were unfortunately beyond way beyond restoration. All these components have been replaced with high quality un-lacquered reproductions. The bells are numbered 14oz, 6, 6, 4 and two 3's, they all have loud rings all round a good usable set of bells. Although the bells and fittings are reversible. They are set to sit on the wall as shown and be pulled from the left, however the return springs can be turned although its very fiddly. Additional Information& Condition Finish: Bell Bronze& brass Diameter of Bells: 70mm to approx 900mm Overall height: 240mm average Overall Projection: 80mm. Weight: 550g each Condition Originally 2 of the bells were painted Green and Black. So we ended up having to strip and polish all 6 bells. We've tried not to go overboard on the stripping so some casting marks still remain. All the bells have also been through a polishing process, they will very quickly tarnish if not polished. The springs have been stripped and all the rust removed then given several coats of wax in the traditional way. The insides still show all the original patina.
