I am unsure of its exact age, but it is Art Nouveau ... morestyle in the carving. It is in fairly good condition but there are a few small gouges in the wood and a lot of light surface scratches to the finish. The piece looks to be quite old. It is 32" tall, and 1.75" square at each end. It is a beautiful old stairway spindle, beautifully carved. A FRIEND OF A FRIEND WAS RAZING A 1915 ART NOUVEAU/ART DECO STYLE HOME IN EAST SACRAMENTO. I WAS MORTIFIED TO SEE ALL THE BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS THAT WOULD END UP IN THE LANDFILL. THE OWNER AGREED TO LET ME REMOVE WHAT I COULD AND RESELL IT. MOST OF THE PIECES I RESCUED HAVE ALREADY BEEN SOLD EXCEPT FOR THIS LONG HAND FORGED IRON STAIR HAND RAIL WITH ITS ORIGINAL MOUNTING BRACKETS. YOU ARE CONSIDERING A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE FIND OF A 1915 HAND FORGED IRON STAIR HAND RAIL WITH TURNED ENDS AND FLAIRED MOUNTING BRACKETS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE ALL HAND DONE BY A SUBPERB CRAFTSMAN. Offered is over 93 feet of matching antique iron fencing. Plus an angled stair section. It is amazing old pitted iron like you would find in a cemetery. This is very sturdy and heavy. I was going to use this in front of my home. But never got around to doing so. It's very difficult to find quantities of wonderful very very old fencing.
