Antique A. P. Green Fire Brick Company - Mexico, Missouri
A. P. Green Brick- Mexico. Missouri A. P. Green was a successful manufacturer who brought jobs and economic growth to Missouri. His fire brick business. Also known as the refractory industry, became a multimillion-dollar firm with branches all over the world. His refractory products contributed significantly to the largest period of industrial growth in United States history. They also played an essential role in the winning of two world wars and the massive rebuilding projects that took place afterward. While working for Evens and Howard. Green visited the Mexico Brick and Fire Clay Company. A small fire brick plant in Mexico, Missouri. The company sat nearly on top of a prized vein of clay. Green was impressed with the large clay deposits near the surface of the ground. In fact. The area in and around Audrain County once had one of the ... morerichest deposits of fire clay in the world. This natural resource was especially suitable for refractory purposes, and it could easily be mined by the open-pit method with steam shovels, thus avoiding expensive underground extraction. Confident of the plant’s potential. Green encouraged the owners of Evens and Howard to purchase the Mexico facility. When they declined. Green decided to buy it himself. It was 1910. And Green was thirty-five years old. He used most of his personal savings to purchase Mexico Brick and Fire Clay for $85,000. It was at this facility that Green began making his fortune. He worked hard and poured all of his income back into the growing company. Five years later. When the A. P. Green Fire Brick Company was incorporated. The value of the facility and equipment had risen to over $200,000. A. P. Green Brick measures = 8-7/8" x 4-1/4" x 2-3/8" No International Sales* Shipping costs may be reduced. In 1865 Mr. Green took hold of the clay manufacturing ... moreenterprise and in 1869 the Laclede Firebrick Manufacturing Co. was incorporated. ANTIQUE BRICK from European legendary company, 1876
Bring the spirit of the great company of the past into your home and exotique of the small Northern country Estonia located on the Baltic sea shore! This brick was found myslef among the remains of the demlsihed buildings’ parts of the famous Krenholm manufacture in Narva(Estonia) Krenholm manufacture was founded in the mid 19 th century as a leading company. That aimed to shadow the best cotton production mills of England and Germany. The great project in Narva combined the most up-to-date world technologies, the leading engineers and architectures around the world. Free energy was obtained from the local waterfalls, needed for production line; cotton was delivered by the ships from the USA, while workshops were equipped with unbelievable labour safety systems, including the fire extinguishing system. During the short period of time 5 factories ... morewere built with the massive production and social infrastructure around it(bridges, artificial channels, kindergarten, school, etc) Buildings itself were truly a masterpiece of the European industrial architecture of the 19 th century. By the end of the 19th century К renholm manufacture was undoubtedly the worlds’ leading and productive company in the cotton industry and remained a flagship up until the WW1. During the WW1 and WW2 military actions were taken place on the Krenholm manufacture grounds. Significant damage was made. Renovation of the manufacture was done in the second part of the 20 th century. 2 new factories were built. Personnel number reached 13000 employees. On the US market Krenholm diapers were very popular. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the 21 st century. Practically all European textile companies were suffering due to the competitiveness of the Asian producers. Many call it“the sunset of the European textile industry” Krenholm manufacture personified this grim process. Our European giant felt on the 30.11.2010. On this day Krenholm bankruptcy was announced. Nowadays on the historical grounds of Krenholm. Setup of housing and entertainme

Archeologists must be careful when documenting an historic site if bricks are used to help in identifying what time period a site belongs. By far. Bricks are recycled more than any other construction material used in an historic structure. If a house burns or falls down from neglect, the bricks were gathered up by others and moved to another site for some specific use. Sometimes, they were moved to a new location only to be used to outline a flower bed or a footpath but these bricks are now part of the cultural material distributed across this new location even though the bricks may date 50 or 100 years.
