Antique Building Terra Cotta from Philadelphia Architectural Salvage
Nice pair of Architectural Salvage- Hand Made Terra Cotta In nice shape. a chip here or there. each piece is heavy and solid. And measure about 19 x 12 x 8 each. Nice age/ patina. They weigh 25 lbs each. There are all kinds of numbers and lettering marking the bottoms. What's great about these are the hand/finger prints on the inside of the claywork. which were the hands of the maker. when/where he or she had to push the clay had to be into molds. and you can clearly see the hand-work craftsmanship. I've enjoyed them for a decade or so. but time for a new home. This is PICK UP ONLY.

And I found some fabulous primitive antiques, as well as boxes and boxes of antique and vintage hardware that I will be listing for a long long time- someone clearly was a woodworker or dabbled in furniture creation or restoration. There’s something for everyone! Wow. What a find, and an education at the same time. I took a quick trip to a local small antique/flea market this weekend, and found some fabulous oldees to add to my farm auction collection. This one really has a haunting history and feel to it- I felt it right away.and had to have it. It's a terra cotta architectural piece recovered from one of the demolitions of the Saint Boniface Church and School in Chicago. ... moreThe woman that I bought it from told me that her son had been a demolition crew worker on the sight, and she had printed out a page on the internet to give me regarding the church(it will be included) I had actually never heard of St. Boniface, so was eager to learn of its history- and rich it is. St. Boniface's original church was established for German immigrants in 1865, and named after the patron saint of Germany. After the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, which it survived, it provided refuge for displaced masses. One of the Parish priests, Father Evers, lead an effort to condem the 10 acres adjacent to the church, lending to the property space for the school, rectory and convents. The last church, school and rectory were built between 1896 and 1904. In 1990, the Archdiocese of Chicago closed the church and scheduled it for demolition, which met with great resistance from the former parishoners and community. After many long restoration battles, four buildings have been demolished on the property; two convents, the school and the rectory, with the original church being slated for senior housing units. Up for auction is an antique faux marble painted single molded terra cotta antique architectural pediment. Bracket or modillion recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia, PA area. it is found in good used condition but hs lost most of its painted surface. This is made of terra cotta, but is quite heavy and was molded, with a number etched in, that appears to read 8 1/2 45. There are a few chips throughout. Please see the photos for details. It is quite heavy for its size. This bracket measures approximately 7" x 9 1/2" x 2 1/4" in size. Great for reuse, repurposing or as a garden accent. Superb Pair 19th c Antique Architectural Terra Cotta Glazed Blocks
Purchased many years ago and these have resided in my garden for years and also in my decorating inside. These are handsome terra cotta decorative blocks which measure 4 7/8” tall by 4" wide by 4 1/8" deep. They have an excellent creamy white glaze with lots of age crazing. The fronts have a geometric design and they came from a pre-1920 Chicago structure that was demolished. The left sides have a trellis design inset and the right sides have mold numbers of 670 over FK1. You will note chips in the glaze on corners and edges. There is residual mortar in the back and bottoms. The details are deeply rendered in pleasingly stylized manner and the surface has naturally weathered texture from a century in the elements. Set of Antique Architectural Salvage Terra Cotta - Building Garden - 65+ Pieces
Available here is a set of antique terra cotta. There are 66 pieces in total. These were salvaged from a building being torn down on the historic Troost Blvd here in Kansas City. I am unsure of the maker. But it was probably one of the many Chicago terra cotta companies. I believe these can be dated to the first quarter of the 20th century. I do not know how these were originally arranged on the building. But the possibilities for repurposing these are only limited by your imagination. They could be used in a garden as decorative pieces or could even be reused for their original purpose as a facade for your building or home. I've showcased them with a central arch, which could be a stunning entryway for the front down of your home. There are 22 pieces of the straight edged columns. They measure approximately 17" long x 5" wide ... moreand are about 6" thick. These are marked"2161" There are 12 pieces of the spiral columns. They measure approximately 14" long x 9" wide and are about 6" thick. These are marked"170 BC 3" There are also 2 more complete spiral columns that have broken into a few pieces. They could be put back together with the proper mortar. There are 6 pieces of the small curved arches. They measure approximately 11" long x 6" wide and are about 5.5" thick. These are marked"170 AC 3" There are 7 pieces of larger curved arches. They measure approximately 14" long x 6" wide and are about 5.5" thick. These are also marked"170 AC 3" There are 2 matching pieces with the curved finial. These are approximately 12" wide and 17-20" long. The large center headstone measures approximately 26"x19" and is 8.5" tall. There are 15 other pieces that I couldn't use when I set these up for the photos or are fragmented. Everything is pictured though. I've shown a yard stick in a number of pictures to try and reference the size of these pieces. There are enough curved pieces to set up a circle
