Antique brass shaving stand with tilting beveled mirror and razor + brush
This old set belonged to my grandfather I am not sure of the age. You can see it is not without flaws please look at pics for a good description. It measures 15"tall the mirror is 6" wide. The single edge razor is Gem brand made in USA metal case with tape residue on top. The brush is Made Rite USA pure bristle#7 you con see the damage on it I think it is bake o lite maybe plastic I don't know. I do not see a brand on the stand but someone put cardboard on the bottom it may be covering it up. I have not tried to polish it you can see inside the soap holder the true finish a lot of patina on the rest but I liked it that way. This little chest is from a North Carolina collector's estate. It is part hand and part machine work. Purchased in the 1940s in North Wilkesboro, N.C. reputedly made locally before 1910. The little knobs to hide screws into the right and left sides of the mirror are missing, The mirror has some age crazing. Antique solid oak dresser with beveled glass and tilting mirror. There are a couple of blemish spots on the mirror(upper right hand side) but otherwise the mirror looks good. The mirror with the upper back of the dresser are removable from the base for easier transport. The carving details are beautiful. One of the handles on the dresser recently bent and broke- believe the current hardware was a replacement for original hardware broken many years ago. This dresser has been in my family for 40 years. Antique Wood Frame Tilting Mirror w Beveled Glass Large
I don't know how to describe the style of this piece. It is very heavy. App. 19 lbs without packaging. It measures 39" x 33.5" x 3" and the frame is shaped like a lyre. The four corners of the wood directly surrounding the mirror have the largest dovetails I have ever seen- one peg& groove at 2.5" By the hardware marks on the back it was used as a dresser mirror, though can be used how you like. The mirror is beautiful, bevel cut around the edge and in very good shape. There is age wear but not much. The piece is very stable and well made, the strange thing is that the back is mainly thick cardboard! The mirror swings to and fro about 2" 3" without much effort, but again is very sturdy and not loose. I would prefer a pick-up on this item and will be willing to hold it for 2 weeks.
