Expert workmanship is evident with wooden pegs, square nails, hand cut dovetails on the drawers and the case as well. The finish is beautiful with warm antique patina. Welcome to my auction! I am proud to be offering for your consideration this antique Victorian Walnut Gentlemans Chest circa 1870. This wonderful big tall chest was recently picked from an old Boston area home and is 100% ORIGINAL and in near mint shape! This piece has six drawers. The drawers are all in good condition and have early hand cut dovetails. The drawer fronts are decorated with two raised burled walnut panels each and all six original drawer locks are still present. The original brass and wood drawer pulls are a rare smaller version of the victorian tear drop pulls. Flanking the drawers are beautiful vertical burled columns. This chest is deeper and larger than most, heavier too! It is of great quality and retains a very nice original finish. The top is beautiful, originally had a wooden back splash or gallery and has four holes(see ... morephotos) The sides have four panels, the back boards are all original as well. Here we have a nice cherry tall chest, probably Pennsylvania in origin, stands 63 inches tall. 42 inches wide, has been tastefully redone with replaced hardware, cock beaded dovetail drawers, poplar and pine secondary woods, ready to go into your home, has age cracks consistent with its age. 1840's 1850's, great visual proportions, had locking top drawers but locks which are small pieces of wood under the drawers are gone but it does make it easier to open them, sits on a nice turned legs, talk about holding some stuff. Dating from the 1850s or‘60s. This is a burl walnut Biedermeier chest that has been refinished a long time ago. It’s in overall good condition, ... morewith only a lamination seam in the thin crown molded top. There are also some little worm holes from a long time ago on the soft wood on the back, and there is a little repair on the molding on the right hand bottom by the foot. It comes with its original key, and all seven of the locks seem to work. Remember, however, that we don’t ever guarantee these old locks to work, and they should be oiled, adjusted, and repaired. It has seven drawers, each standing for a day of the week, and it purposely doesn’t have handles and needs to be locked and unlocked with a key. It has a crown molded top, and handcut dovetails. The interesting part of this chest is that where it comes apart, someone has inked his or her signature: D. Fredricksborg, as well as signing the backboards. It was refinished a long, long time ago, and there is a dark rub mark on the left panel. The overall size is 39.5 inches wide, 19.5 inches deep, and 64.5 inches tall. This particular chest came out of a Massachusetts estate and it was dark and grungy. We decided to hand strip. Hand sand, hand stain and hand rub multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer applied. It consists of two curve front drawers on the top and five large drawers underneath. The drawers are all hand dove tail and flame mahogany ... moreface. The posts are solid mahogany and acanthus carved. It has a gadroon or rope molded edge on top. The base has a claw foot hairy foot. It has been finished in the dark reddish brown stain lacquer. The overall size is 43 inches wide. 22 inches deep and 61 inches tall. I believe the wooden knobs are original and definitely match up to it. The back is hand planed boards and the sides are mahogany which is very unusual as usually it is a secondary wood like poplar. It is in stunning condition and is all set to go into the home. This stunning piece was made in England. We estimate it was built sometime around the year 1890. It has a very Chippendale look and feel to it. The mahogany wood has a wonderful grain and color that is sure to go with almost any bedroom suite. At the bottom, large and strong bracket feet provide lift and support to the entire chest of drawers. Each drawer of the chest is fashioned with a lock. Unfortunately, no key remains. There is a black mark on the third drawer down and a few small dings here and there. The right side has a square of different colored finish in the back near the top and a repair at the back of the top moulding. Otherwise, this antique mahogany tall chest of drawers is in very good condition and ready to go right into your home and be used. The insides of the drawers are clean. Antique burled birdseye walnut dresser. It has a white demilune beveled marble top and large center mirror. On either side of the mirror there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. Picture 10 shows a small piece of veneer at the top left that has come unglued and a couple of marks. There are three large graduated drawers. On the bottom of each side of the drawers there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. The four cabinet curved doors are finished on the inside. All the drawers and cabinets have locks. I have the key for the top left cabinet. The drawers have the original carved wood pulls. It stands 79" high. 48" wide, and 25" deep. The marble has no cracks. The dresser is in fine condition.
