This is a piece that was built to last with strong and heavy construction throughout. The crest is an ornate and complicated carving of flowing ribbon tied in a double-bow and interlaced with flowers that sprout over and along the frame, likewise carved carefully with a large twisted rope molding lined by a small twisted rope border. The arms flow down into curved handholds, the arm supports terminating in the frame with acanthus leaves sprouting up along the edges. Very tall ornate column with marble top and very ornate ormulu mounts; bookmatched veneers. Incredibly marquetry. 2. Smaller circular side table or console/pedestal with tri-leg and marble top 3. Wide drawer dresser or ... morebombe chest with elaborate ormulu mounts 4 and 5. PAIR of small dressers(only 1 is shown. The other is in storage) The condition on everything is generally excellent. One of the small chests has some minor cracking in the side veneer. But we wouldn't recommend to touch it. Leave it as is, it's beautiful. In general, there may be minor wear to edging or drawers, but there is nothing major to fix. Everything has been used for many years but well taken care of. We cannot determine if the pieces are French or Swedish; it is possible(highly likely) that they are both. This was not a matched set; it is a coordinating set that works beautifully despite minor differences in color. As it was placed in the current estate where it sits. The pieces were used in different areas of the house, contributing to an overall style. We were asked to sell this entire grouping as a set. it has to be picked up. No shipping. the finish is far from perfect but still a beautiful display piece. i think the wood is oak but i'm not an expert by any means. it has chinese decor on it, three piece folding mirror, cane seat bench matches, the back has 921 stamped on it and i can't find any other markings as to the maker. it has scratches, chips and staining on the deck, some of the chinese decor is broke off and gone. Beautiful Bombe Commode Chest with Green Italian Marble Top Louis XV French Antique Bombe Style Chest This was abosolutely the most beautful piece of furniture I have ever had. My husband inherited it from a client approximately 20 years ago. He has since past and I do not know the complete history. It was in exellent condition when I met him and remained that was until we moved to a new home about six years ago. It was sitting over an A/C vent I do not know for sure but I believe that may have dried it out and caused the veneer to start chipping. If the right person knew how to fix or restore the veneer it would be perfect piece. The Green Italian Marble top is in pristiene condition. as are the drawers, legs and ornate brass fixtures. I searched for comparable pieces online for many months but have found nothing that matches the size, style and beauty of this piece, especially with the Ormolu pieces on top and feet. I believe the wood is walnut. The wood on the drawers is a burled pattern. Please note the detail in the Ormalu crown and drawer pulls. An extremely heaving rectangular piece of coral marble is inset in the top. The oval mirror is beveled and is in excellent condition. There are matching two nightstands. Twin beds and dresser armoire which will be listed separately. This piece is in very good condition. Especially considering its age. I have included photographs of a missing piece(which I have) on the drawer. I’m sure a professional refinisher could make ... morequick fixes of these. The surface of this fine commode is a vivid display of flowers and foliage on intermingling vines over a parquetry background. The mounts on either corner are heavily acanthus in nature, rather bold and conforming appropriately with the Rococo naturalism of the pulls and central apron motif. The sabots are typical for the style, very nicely cast and of appropriate substance for the size of the case. The castings are of medium fine detail, ranking above most peers of it's period in terms of chasing and filing of details. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the top revealing a mixture of tongue-in-groove and dovetail joinery while both drawers are crafted with large dovetails at the front and back joints using solid golden oak planks. The cartouche-shaped bevelled plate above a glass-inset top with two single drawer compartments over a channel-moulded drawer on moulded cabriole legs. A pretty revival of a mid-18th century French design. This piece is executed in the Louis XV style. Louis XV( 1710- 1774) was a monarch of the House of Bourbon who ruled as King of France and Navarre from 1 September 1715 until his death. He succeeded his great-grandfather Louis XIV at the age of five. Until he reached maturity in 1723.
