The wood base is in overall good condition and structurally sound. The varnish and wood does have normal wear for its age. The pedestal legs have a detailed carved design and the center was hand spun on a lathe. Included are two newer marble tops that easily screw on. One measures 12" across and 1/2" thick. The other is 11" across and 3/4" thick with an inset. This one has a few dings on the underside along the outer edge. Nothing major. LOT# 15 Detailed Photos. Click to enlarge. Estate Road Show. Item Description. We are pleased to offer this Antique Victorian Eastlake Low Chest/ Dresser. The chest offers 3 long locking drawers. Period brass tear drop pulls and pin& cove(knapp joint) ends on the drawers. All the drawers have their locks intact but no key. The front of the chest has beautiful incised carvings on the drawers and wood escutcheons. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. Nut missing for finial on left top drawer pull. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during the Victorian era. Although Eastlake furniture is technically considered Victorian, being ... morepopular from 1870-1890, it breaks away from the excessive high relief carving, classical elements and numerous curves of other styles produced during this timeframe. In contrast with other Victorian styles of furniture produced in America featuring classical motifs, Eastlake furniture is more geometric and incorporates modest curves. It sometimes includes mild Renaissance and medieval influences that do not overwhelm the design. Up for auction is a RARE ANTIQUE OAK SALESMAN'S SAMPLE Miniature EASTLAKE MIRRORED BUREAU/ DRESSER Circa 1870-1885. Includes antique oak ornate Eastlake style mirrored dresser with candle holders and lift up compartment on bureau. Ornate applied molding at top of fancy scrolled mirror frame. Mirror can tilt. Grid lines on drawer fronts are typical of Eastlake style of the late 19th century. Regarding wood color, it is a medium oak color(looks a bit more red/orange in the photos) Any dark areas are shadows and white areas are reflections. As you can see this is a wonderful piece and could be used in many places in a home, whether as a miniature Salesman's Sample or a doll bureau for dolls. As with most antiques, it has it's minor flaws, nothing to totally distract from it's beauty, or usability, aged wood has such character. It does have some chips, dings, and marks, and one missing drawer pull. I chose to sell this item with the original pulls and it is your choice to replace them with 6 other pulls if you wish, or find a matching plain black knob. Seems to be original finish but I am not sure. Could be improved with restoration but again that is your choice. Drawers work fair, no sticking. Mirror is in very good condition and has wide bevel, might be new, and is missing the wooden backing. One peg missing underneath mirror outer frame but other three hold it in place fine. Mirror frame is attached to bureau with pegs that just slip into holes in the bureau ledge, and more brackets in back. All in all a fabulous miniature! Hard to find miniature Eastlake style. Solid Cherry.....English Antique Furniture Eastlake dresser commode...circa 1810
This is a charming English made solid cherry antique dresser circa 1810. I acquired this from a couple who came to the United States from England. This piece is consistent with English cabinetmaking.This is made from solid cherry planks. The candle stands which flank the mirror are wonderful.The carvings and hand turned finials are beautiful. The hardware is all original except for the 2 small upper drawers which is new. All of the lower drawers have locks which work excellently with a new key. The hand cut dovetail joinery and hand chamfered drawer bottoms are beautiful. The drawer fronts are 1" thick solid cherry, there is no veneer on this entire piece.The secondary wood is poplar. The mirror glass is new.The mirror is on tilting mounts(it does not stay fixed when tilted. Just let in hang vertically) This piece has lots of battle ... morescars(nicks, dings etc) and some repairs earned over its lifetime such as dings in both side panels about the size of a"pea" The top(across the full width.left to right) has an age separation shrinkage crack which I repaired(you can still tell there was a crack despite the repair(see photo) some drawer bottoms have age shrinkage separations,there are some age shrinkage separations(cracks) in the side panels, worn edges, small stains in the top and character marks consistent with any fine antique.I refinished the top and the mirror frame, after repairing a missing piece of wood around the mirror thumb screw. The inlaid brass keyhole escutcheons are all in place. Most of the dresser has the original finish with a gorgeous patina as you can easily see in the mirror support photos etc. This wonderful piece will look beautiful wherever you decide to place it whether an entryway. Bedroom or living room.I restored all of the drawers and reinforced some internally with wood blocking.The drawers are strong, stable and they slide excellently.I t has such delicate graceful lines which sets it apart from the crowd. all the best. The carved details on this mirror are geometric in design reflecting more of a adobe southwest style motif. The mirror measures a total height to the top of the crest of 49-1/2” inches tall by 36” inches wide. And weighs between 20-25 lbs. The mirrored inside dimensions are approximately: 29” inches tall by 17” inches wide This would make a wonderful statement in a foyer. Bedroom or great room over a fireplace mantel in a southwest décor style, log cabin or Victorian themed home. There have been restoration modifications to the mirror as follows: There was no original mirror when I purchased it. Just the ... moreframe and it’s been replaced by a modern glass mirror. There was only one unattached shelf bracket, but someone can have a wood craftsman duplicate another one to match booth sides if they so choose. The mirrored frame piece(I believe) was originally made to swivel for a large dresser, but solid brackets are now attached to the back to make this piece stationary since there was also no original hardware that came with it. The wood was faded from years of neglect in a bright storeroom as seen by the bracket shelf, but the mirror frame has been refinished with a clear natural stain to bring out the original color of the walnut wood. The photos show more of a reddish tint to the color, but it’s really a warm medium brown tone. It was very difficult to photograph in my office. Overall wood condition is very good, no splits, cracks, chunks missing, mold or rot. Although our price is reflective of these modifications. There is still value in owning this beautiful piece of history for generations to come. Eastlake 1875 Antique Tall Chest with Mirror. Jewelry Drawers. An exceptionally well crafted late Victorian or Eastlake period tall chest of drawers with a swivel mirror dates from about 1875. Solid walnut with burl panels. The satiny finish is in excellent condition with warm patina. The mirror has just enough"smoke" to show its age, it is mounted above two small jewelry drawers. All drawers have round or"pin and cove" dovetail joints, characteristic of the age. Engraved brass hardware is of the period. But not original to the piece, for unknown reasons. Five lower drawers were latched with a"sidelock" mechanism- at the right side is a hinged column secured the drawers, but the lock is missing. The dresser offers 3 long locking drawers. Pin& cove(knapp joint) ends on the drawers. All the drawers have their locks intact but no key. The drawers feature an incredible matched set of 6 original period pulls in the Anglo Japanese Geisha Pattern probably manufactured by Russell& Erwin. The front of thedresser has beautiful incised floral and foliage carvings on the drawers. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during ... morethe Victorian era. Although Eastlake furniture is technically considered Victorian, being popular from 1870-1890, it breaks away from the excessive high relief carving, classical elements and numerous curves of other styles produced during this timeframe. In contrast with other Victorian styles of furniture produced in America featuring classical motifs, Eastlake furniture is more geometric and incorporates modest curves. It sometimes includes mild Renaissance and medieval influences that do not overwhelm the design. This lovely dressing mirror has its original finish with warm rich patina and original beveled mirror and brass casters intact on all four feet and the original. Beautiful brass butterfly mirror mounts at the side. This 19th century cheval mirror would make a fantastic addition to a Bedroom or Dressing room and offers classic style and elegance. This mirror measures 71 1/2 inches from the floor to the top of the mirror.A total width at the base of 26 1/4 inches, 15 1/2 inches from front to back between the feet on the base. Antique (c.1870) lady's dresser in the style of Charles Eastlake
This"Charles Eastlake" style lady's dresser has been in our family for more than 140 years. It belonged to my great grandmother. A gift from her new husband on their wedding day in the early 1870s. She was 15; he, 31. The dresser is made from deep red cherry or mahogany wood. The piece is in wonderful condition except for a few minor flaws(shown) For five generations of women, it has never been used for anything but its original purpose, a lady's vanity above and three-drawer clothes chest below. A 7 3/4 x 16 1/4 inch marble insert is centered on the top front surface. In addition to three large drawers below. It has jewelry or glove drawers on each side of the top and two small knick-knack shelves on either side of the mirror. The total height from the original porcelain casters to the rounded finial on top is 75 inches. ... moreThe maximum depth from front to back is 18 1/2 inches and the width is 35 1/4 inches. The mirror is on a swivel. Allowing it to be adjusted back and forth vertically. The mirror dimensions are 11 1/4 x 19 inches and the unbeveled glass is too clear to be original. The three drawers below have interior dimensions of 29 inches wide, 13 1/2 deep. The front of each lower drawer has a burled inset(probably faux) typical of Eastlake furniture. The glove and jewelry drawers are 6 1/2 inches wide, 13 1/2 inches deep. All 8 knobs are original. This dresser was manufactured in an American factory or shop. Probably in the Midwest, following design concepts of English architect and designer Charles Eastlake. His ideas were disseminated in his book Hints on Household Taste in Furniture. Upholstery and other Details, first published in England in 1868. And then in United States in 1872. Eastlake pieces, though contemporary with Victorian furniture, 1870-1890, are actually anti-Victorian. He called for angular, notched and carved pieces, deliberately opposed to the curved shapesof French Baroque Revival Styles prevalent in the Victorian era. This is a large piece measuring 54" wide x 85" tall x 25 1/2" deep. There is a HEAVY solid slab of beveled edged white marble that is 48" wide x 22" deep x 1" thick and does not just rest on top but sits in its own custom perfect fit carved edged seat. This piece of marble weighs about 100 lbs itself. The first drawer opens to a solid piece of burl or birdseye maple. That is a sign of quality as that was an expensive wood. The two drawer pulls in the top drawer are original. There are four larger pulls that were used in the two lower drawers but are missing pieces. I have purchased and installed four reproduction pulls and will include the pieces of the originals in case you ever want to try to locate matching one but even a nice set of Victorian Eastlake teardrop pulls that do come up often would work if you don't like these repros. Offered for auction is this very nice circa 1870's-1880's AestheticWalnut Victorian chest of drawers. The chest is a very nice small size. 38" t x 30" w x 19" d. It has 5 graduated drawers and under the top drawer is a pull out flat shelf for writing or folding clothes(see pic 4) The front stiles have nice Aesthetic carvings at the top and the sides are recessed rectangular panels surrounded by molding. Plinth base and raised on casters. The stamped brass bail handles and backplates have a wonderful scenic design. The top has been used a lot so will need to be cleaned up and maybe even refinished due to all the scraping and scratches. But still is useable and functional. Antique Victorian Eastlake walnut chest of drawers mirror frame on stand

Offered for auction is this nice large walnut mirror frame that attaches to the top of a chest of drawers. Two walnut supports with brass turn screw attachments support the mirror frame(no mirror) The supports have screw holes in the bases of them to be screwed down to the top of the chest. Mirror can be angled up or down with the brass adjustment handles. Frame has nice parallel carved reeded lines all around and the dimensions are outside. 35 1/4" x 29 1/8" Inside, 30" x 24 1/2" Weight is about 10 lbs.

Up for sale is this great Antique marble top dresser it stands over 7 feet tall with the mirror connected to it. It is about 43 inches wide and about 20 inches deep. It has a stunning mirror all complete and not broken. Its flaws are a crack in the marble top. The knobs are not original Although I do have one original so you can match them up if you search for them. Also one of the candle stands has a black cup type ring on it. This bureau belonged to my grandmother. Unfortunately. I do not have space for it any longer. I believe this is"Victorian Eastlake" It is in very good original condition with original hardware. Sold as is. No one has painted, refinished or otherwise tampered with it. There was never a mirror from the time my grandmother acquired it. Local pick-up only! Dimensions are: 51 inches wide. 19 inches front to back and 33 inches at the tallest point. It is a large piece and heavy but the side sections with small drawers and the marble pieces come off for moving. Probably best to have a van or large-ish SUV to move it.

It appears to have the original finish. Although it is quite worn and generally a bit distressed, but the shelf is in sound condition. There is also that missing piece that I mentioned previously. The painting has an aged, crackled and mottled appearance. There are two eyelet holes on either side of the side brackets to hang the unit on the wall. Measurements of the shelf are 20" width x 6-1/2" depth and it has a height of 9-5/8" The shelf weighs 2 pounds 1 ounce. Antique Eastlake Dresser with Marble top, Glove Boxes & Ornate Mirror
This is a gorgeous Antique Eastlake walnut dresser with a white Carrera marble top. Ornately carved pivoting mirror, and glove boxes. The 3 drawers below have beautifully carved acorn pulls, and the glove boxes have porcelain knobs. There are burl panels on the front of each drawer under the pulls. The drawers have"pin and cove" joints. There is a crack on the top of one of the glove drawers as shown, but other than that, this is a very well preserved piece of furniture. The size is 33 1/2" high to the dresser top x 37" wide x 18" deep. The top of the mirror measures to 69" high. The glove boxes are 17" x 10" x 5" This is a solidly built, beautifully detailed piece of furniture that will last generations to come!
