The cover has corner wear and the binding is loose but still intact. The book was compiled for the Philadelphia Inquirer and it is loaded with maps of the USA and the rest of the world. It is interesting to see what the names of some of the countries were in 1899. There is also a map of the US Indian Territories and a topographical map of the USA by George Cram. The whole has been laid down on archival silk. Good wide margin with some minor chips. The colours are fresh and bright and ... morethe whole map presents a highly decorative twin hemipshere image. A very impressive map with some subtle restoration. These maps combine Hondius' geographical outline with variant border decorations taken from Boisseau's map of 1636(Entry 340) Berey has omitted Boisseau's large textual banners but has retained his calendar(starting with 1637) the wind tables and the heavenly sphere. There are spelling errors in the title; Hydpographica' for'Hydrographica' and'Royne' for'Reyne' Shirley 354. Third state of this map with the date 1649. Very rare map by Guillaume De l'Isle original dated 1703 first edition second state of the most famous map of America. Florida, Mexico, and the Caribe's islands. The map is in very good condition, size is 30.5 inches by 22.5 inches, with a large cartouche folded in the middle as issued in the large atlas. Published by Buache in 1745. Description: Nice example of the 1745 of Guillaume De L'Isle's landmark map. The first printed map to accurately depict the course and mouth of the Mississippi River. De L'Isle's Carte du Mexique. is drawn from the reports brought back to France from the survivor's of the La Salle expedition into the interior of North America and from information derived from the explorations of Bienville and d'Iberville. The SDUK began its map publishing project under the leadership of Captain Francis Beaufort R.N. in 1829, and published the maps in parts, haltingly, over the next 15 years, completing the series in 1844, finally permitting the publication of a whole atlas. For your consideration is this great antique map. In not so great shape. Colton's Map of the World on Mercators' Projections published in 1854. The map is about 49" wide, It is around 36" long( I did not measure when I had the map open so this is an educated guess and may be off several inches, due to the condition of the map I do not intend to open it again. Very Interesting. C. 1868. The maps are in color. Top cover completely detached from book. If you look at the map of the US. Oklahoma is called Indian Territory not Oklahoma. Admittedly, this book is in rough shape and I'm not sure all pages are there, but it's so interesting if you are a history buff like I am.

This is my beautifully presented Blaeu map showing 2 hemispheres in one global map. The Founder of the House of Blaeu. William Janszon Blaeu, was one of the first men in the world to produce a map like this(approximately AD 1605) and his son Johannes Blaeu combined some into two enormous atlases between the years 1647- 1658. This one is taken from the original(4'6" by 3'6" and signed by the founder in the form of a dedication addressed to the Papal Ambassador in Venice. And was probably a gift given in 1665. There are eleven portraits across the top. With Pope Innocent XIth in the centre, and all the reigning Monarchs of the time. This particular map is a unique example of Blaeu workmanship, and is considered to be the finest in existence. I have not looked at each and every page because I didn't want to take a chance of damaging the book in any way but I noticed that there are some pages with water stains, but the maps seem to be basically in very good condition. Also known as L'Abbe Pluche, was a French priest who wrote one of the most popular natural history works of the 18th century- Le Spectacle de la Nature which was first published in 1732. Although primarily about natural history it also contained maps and engravings of a geographic nature in the fourth volume of eight published. It was also translated into English in 1740. This very interesting engraving illustrates: the phases of the Moon. An eclipse of the Sun, an eclipse of the Moon, and the orbits of the Earth and Moon. An absolutely lovely antique or at least vintage I believe reprint of Henricus Hondius 1661 Hemisphae Alis Co Eli Spheari Gra- RII BORE Etterrae Casceno Phia. The size of the chart or map(not sure of the proper term for this) is approximately 20" x 18" it is a little larger. I am measuring this by what is showing with the mat on. I bought this and another very similar one which I am also listing as these 2 would be great together as they are matted and framed the same. I took the chart out of the frame so that I could see exactly what I had. The chart is glued to a backing and there is some pencil writing on the other chart. You can view that other item in my listings. As these were owned by the same person and framed by the same framer I am ... moreassuming they are both of the same time period, and again, these are I believe reprints. They are still fantastic and would be wonderful in a home library or office. The wood on the frame is very heavy and I believe solid worm wood(little holes have been borned into the wood) I have not applied any oil or tried to touch up the frames, I am sure they would look much better after that is done. The wire on the back of this to hang this should be replaced as it is so old it has become brittle and did actually break apart, so I would restring this prior to hanging. Buyer does have the option of having the item removed from the frame and a reduced shipping fee- remember however that item is glued to a mat so the package would then be a still large 25 x 20. But thin package and of course would weigh much less. I can not give that shipping total prior to purchase however, because I would need a zip code or country and an exact weight. This is a nice historical reference atlas of the world. This particular atlas is supplemented with Green Lake County history. A county map, individual township maps, and a business directory and reference pages with peoples' native homes, occupation, location, and settlement years. Also, there are many etchings of people's residences and businesses. I included the table of contents for this so you can see who and what is included. As far as condition goes. You can see that the front and back covers are pretty beat up, but both are still attached by a small section of the binding. Is known more for his authorship of the five volume"Description de l'Univers' one of the earliest printed miniature, illustrated world history/geography books. It contains numerous decorative maps, views, portraits etc. which are the best source of reasonably priced material for the collector of early illustrated material. RARE--World Map Printed in Chinese & Japanese-Probably a Woodblock circa 1845
I assume this item to be quite rare. I could not find a comparable item anywhere on the Internet. It measures 35 7/8 x 14 inchels. Fully opened including map, title, and text in Chinese and Japanese.The map measures approx. 15 1/2 x 10 inches. Someone has neatly written(in red ink or pencil) the date 1845, which I'm assuming to be the publication date. The map was probably woodblock printed. As you can see, the covers that the map folds into are in at least good condition, the front cover title being fully legible. U.S. shipping is $6.00 via priority mail. Int'l shipping at cost plus small handling fee. An insurance fee will be added to the shipping invoice.
