This stunning decorative map was originally published in the marine atlas De Zee–Atlas ofte Water-Werel. In Amsterdam in 1666. It is one of the most lavishly decorated world maps to appear in a Dutch atlas. It is a highly detailed double-hemisphere map which closely follows the work of Visscher and Blaeu. It includes insets of the North and South Pole and the empty South Pole region titled Australis Incognita. It's in excellent condition, with no major flaws, scratches, cracks, etc. Holds lots of history. As you can see from the pictures. There is a history of people who have had and hung this piece, along with the dates it was hung. So cool to have that extra bit of a story with it. This piece is very large.
