1940 Framed Map of Cazenovia Lake New York by Mary Frances Ferris
This was done by M. Frances Ferris in 1940. This may be a print of the original but I believe is still from 1940. It is in it's original nice antique oak frame. This was framed and possibly printed at The Andersons Frame& Print Shop at 49 Sullivan Street Cazenovia, New York. I looked up Mary Frances Ferris, she was head of the local history and genealogy department of the Syracuse Public Library System 1922-58. I also did a search of 49 Sullivan Street in Cazenovia and found out that a Anderson family did live at that address a very long time ago which is a house built in the year 1860. No mention of it ever being a business but the name Anderson had owned it at one time, no mention of the years owned. The condition of the map is excellent. It is amazing condition for the age with no real issues other than some light wrinkles. The ... morepaper is light brown. Not yellow. I think this is a later copy, it does appear to be hand colored. It is not a dot matrix print! We obtained this from an estate. BEFORE READING FURTHER. Please note that this item is for pick up ONLY at my house in Plainview, NY 11803 This is a framed 1902 map issued by the Long Island Rail Road At the bottom left corner. There is printing that reads: Copyright 1902 by the Long Island R.R. Co. The overall frame measures 16 X 49 inches. NOTE: The condition is fair. The images in this ad should give you a good indication of the condition. But here are a few words. There are water stains on the printed map, however, the portion of the map showing Long Island has NO water stains. The frame is sturdy and there is a wire on the back, making it ready for hanging on a wall. There is patchwork wood backing though, see images. Overall. The map paper certainly does show aging and appropriate discoloration for being over 140 years young. Great map still in good condition. The wood frame is in good condition.
