But it has never been ... morefolded, so there are no fold lines. A Rand McNally"Map of the World" sticker is covering the original Cosmopolitan Series label, so perhaps it was overstock that was re-branded. The odd thing is a small Atlantic Records sticker in the middle of the compass point graphic. Perhaps after some changes in the names and borders of some countries the map became obsolete and Atlantic picked them up- cheap and in bulk- for some promotional campaign. A world history expert could probably estimate the date based on the geography of the time. I don't know if this map was mounted on a wall back when it was new, but it has no staple holes or other signs of being affixed to a wall. There is impact damage and wrinkles around the edges, and mild wrinkling throughout, but no stains, rips or holes. Still in good condition, it looks great and has not faded over the years. This is a vintage 1964 metal replica 1600's world map framed in brown painted chipboard with gold embellishments. It is made by Masketeers. Inc. and is stamped on the back with their mark. It measures 43.5" wide x 30.25" tall. and has a hook on the back for hanging. The map and medallions look to be made of brass. The chipboard is thick with a bevelled edge. There are a few small scratches on the brown chipboard as shown in the photos. The rest is in good vintage condition and is full of detail and color. The engraver Josua van den Ende signature can be seen in the lower right corner. The most striking characteristic are the superb border decorations. Along the top are allegorical of the sun and the moon and the known five planets- Mercury. Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Down the sides are, on the left, four panels illustrating the elements(Fire, Water, Air and Earth) and on the right, the four seasons. Along the bottom are seven vignettes showing the seven ancient wonders of the world: the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Colossus over the harbour at Rhodos, the Pyramids, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus at Caria, the Temple of Diane, the Statue of Jupiter, and ... morethe conical lighthouse of Alexandria. This beautiful map was embroidered on a brocade canvas and has a gold satin like back. The edges are ordered with a brown velvet and a gold brocade. There are 6 loops for a hanging rod which is not included. It measures 46.25" wide and 38.5" long. This does have some staining and could use a cleaning. I have not cleaned it because I am not sure how to safely do so. Due to the business of this design it is actually hard to see the discoloration. This has many of the Disney Characters surrounding the Magic Kingdom logo- the 1979 version just has Minnie Mouse. This map or guide is printed on heavy cardstock and measures just under 32" X 40" It is folded into eight sections. This map has no other fold marks but these fold marks are worn or soft. Here for sale is a vintage map published by W& A K Johnston in 1914 as part of the Popular Edition Series. It came with several similar maps from the"Unrivaled Series" of 1914 published by Johnston. I obtained this map and 6 other maps from a collection of maps used in a one room school in Welch. Minnesota. The maps had a slight odor of age which has improved substantially since I took them out of their holder. The map measures about 38 by 48 inches. And has rollers on each end. The map has condition issues as shown in the photo. Including tearing and scraping, mostly along the bottom, and along the extreme edges. There are some small tears in the map too. Map has some staining or darkening, again mostly along the bottom, and could use a cleaning. Please see the photos to observe condition. The map is about 49" wide, It is around 36" long( I did not measure when I had the map open so this is an educated guess and may be off several inches, due to the condition of the map I do not intend to open it again.
