Up for bid here is a 1979 First Edition Book titled"National Geographic Picture Atlas Of Our World. This is a large hardcover book measuring 10-7/8 inches by 10-3/4 inches so it is almost square. It contains 312 pages of great photos and information. As for condition. It looks real good to me. I don't see anything worth noting wrong with it. The map is still included and in the pocket inside the back cover. I'm not sure what else to say about it except for Happy Bidding!

I found it in a box lot of items purchased at an estate sale.everything in the box was from that time period. It doesn't appear to have had much use.maybe looked at a time or two and then folded up and stored away. There are no tears but does have creases from being folded as you can see in the photos. The map opens to a generous 23" x 44" and it depicts the world on an azimuthal equal-area projection. Solid red lines on the map show domestic and international airways then in service. As you may see in the scans below: The only transatlantic flights then in operation were between South America and Europe via Africa. When this map was printed. The North Atlantic still presented challenges for aviators due to weather and the huge distances involved, coupled with the lack of stopping points. Early transatlantic services, consequently, focused more on the South Atlantic, where the map shows two routes. It also shows one route across the Pacific, with stops ... moreat Honolulu, Midway, Wake, Guam, and Manila. The map also shows principal railroad lines. Canals, glaciers, capital cities, major towns, and political boundaries as they existed prior to the Second World War. It was lithographed by A. Hoen& Company. Baltimore and published by the National Geographic Society as a supplement to the December 1935 National Geographic Magazine. Condition: This map is in very good condition. Bright and clean, with no marks. Rips, or tears. The paper has turned a bit brittle along one of the fold lines and the fold corners have been reinforced on the reverse side with archival tape. Vintage Cram's School World Outline Map Roll Down Canvas Cloth Markable
Here is a nice old Cram's Markable-Kleenable roll down school map. It is an Outline map of the world with no identification of the countries. I'm not sure how old it is. But I'd guess it to be from the 1960s or so. I've included lots of pics so that you can get a really good look at it. I forgot to get the measurements of it prior to packaging it up, but I'd estimate the map area to be approximately 48" wide x 38" tall(not including the brown area at the bottom or the white area above the map) It is a No. CSU-8 map and also has a number C768 at the bottom. The roller and mount bracket are included. The spring loaded roller is a bit finnicky to operate but if you give the map a few quick jerks, it will eventually roll up properly. VINTAGE SCHOOL HOUSE WALL MAP CASE w/5 MAPS I've had this map case on my wall for over 15 years. And am ready for a change. Bought in Phoenix. AZ from an antique dealer who told me he got it out of a little school house in Minnesota. He was going to make the case into a spice rack. When opened the case. Plus the door, hangs down 3' The case is 3 3/4" deep. There are ... more2(original? eye bolts at the top of the case. I use 2 lag bolts(through these eye bolts) into the studs in my wall to hang. See photos. It is quite the eye catcher& conversation maker! I also use the top of the case as a shelf for other items. This case can hold 8 maps total. There are 5 vintage. Used maps that are included. Each map has a peg that fits into a hole on the left side of the inside of the case. On the right side are original metal pieces that hold the map in place. There is a metal long piece that slides out. You can then roll the map& place the right side map peg into this metal piece. Then slide the metal piece into the wood slot. There are metal'circles' that rotate over the long piece to keep them from sliding out. There should be 8 long metal pieces. But I only have 7. Please see the photos. I think these maps could be pulled down& then let roll up on their own as a shade would. But I don't do that. I always unroll& roll the maps up by hand.
