From an estate in Central New York where we were told the interior designer in 1956 chose this lamp for the house. And from seeing this house(a real throw back in time) we can believe it. This lamp is in SUPER condition. Immaculate really. Original burlap woven shade. White porcelain body. Heavy brass on the remainder of the lamp. Great atomic lines. EAMES all the way. From the great lamp maker Stiffel designed by Tommi Parzinger(according to my research) Marked Stiffel on shade and also on socket(where we find the foil label) There is a switch in cord to power lamp and then the switch on socket will function. Set 4 Vintage Parzinger Mont Draper era Mid Century Modern Hollywood Chairs
Up for consideration is an interesting set of 4 Mid Century or Hollywood Regency era high back chairs in original material. The chair have limed grey legs with the upholstery being sort of silk with a cotton frilly type accent work along the edges. They measure 20 inches wide 41 inches high 23 inches dep with a 20 inch spring seat height. The chairs have a wonderful curvature too the back. They are truly fabulous.Please note that some photos were taken in the direct sunlight.others in the shade. The chairs date from the mid 50's to early 60's. Condition: the legs have a multitude of marks. scuffs etc.with light staining to the material and more specifically some discoloration more so to the seat of one chair. Up for auction we have a Tommi Parzinger silver plated urn table lamp. The lamp is in vintage condition. As can be seen in the pics it can use a polishing. I will leave that up to the new owner. The lamp has been used and does have some issues. The cone has a few indentations. The industrial age made possible the manufacture of things only imagined! As is the way with business. Manufacturers realized ways to increase profits with the new plastics and metals. This lamp. Made of wrought iron and brass was only to be found for a very short while in the 1947-1950 period. The best designers such as Tommi Parzinger and Robsjohn Gibbings loved the quality and permanence that wrought iron provided to a furnishing. In just a few short years most mid century lamps would use hollow pipe or other cost and weight saving measures. By today's standards all mid century lamps seem like they are twenty ... moretimes the quality of 21st century furnishings. But these early pieces were still a notch above the later mid century fare and due to their design will survive for centuries! This monumental design. Attributed to Tommi Parzinger, features wonderfully formed tripod legs that are cast of wrought iron and have brass encased feet. A brass neck emerges from the legs and rises up elegantly into a brass socket framed by a beautiful linen shade. This lamp provides ample light and illuminates a room wonderfully! Parzinger loved this bent leg style of wrought iron and used it liberally on most of his mid century floor lamps. This design captures both elegance of form with the clean minimalism which was in growing demand in 1950. In mid century parlance it would be defined as a'crossover' lamp- designed for affluent buyers who wanted the best of both worlds- elegance and contemporary styling. Today. It looks simply smashing! Great vintage chrome chandelier. I do not know the maker-it is in the style of Tommi Parzinger. 12 arms with smoked glass plates under the candle area. Really cool looking piece. This chandelier measures 24" in diameter and 20" tall not including the chain. This lamp has not been tested and is being sold as-is. May need to be rewired. Lamp is in good cosmetic condition. The ceiling plate does not match the lamp and is a slightly different color. The glass pieces have a couple of tiny chips that are not visible except upon very close inspection. Stiffel was the standard bearer of lamp quality at this time and no mansion or penthouse worth its salt was without at least one Stiffel serving up illumination. Very nice condition. Some tarnish and small chips to the burnished brass, body and base. One of the four legs has been repaired. This striking fixture is constructed of brass and features sleek lines with subtle curves. This five light chandelier has an elongated, hourglass center column. There are 5 reticulated brass cylinder shades that diffuse the light beautifully. The wire casing box, just under the center column is saucer shaped with a long sleek tassel. Each of the bobeches repeats this feature. The slip shades sit freely on the bobeches. Tommi Parzinger Lightolier Torchiere Table lamp
Up for auction is a table lamp/torchiere designed by Tommi Parzinger. The lamp is silver plated brass and stands 19"tall. The design was issued by Lightolier in the 1940's. The lamp displays well but has some cosmetic issues. The torchiere cone has a repair from a ding at the top of the cone in front. There is a defect at the base in the front. And a small amount of pitting on the arms on the bottom: see photos. the middle fluted urn section has been lacquered an ivory color for a sophisticated look. The lamp has been polished out and rewired. Works perfectly- with original Federal 3-way socket.
