Up for bid is a beautiful Swedish curved credenza/dresser designed by Edmund Spence. Measures approximately 78" long. 23" wide, and 34" tall. Not 100% sure what type of wood, we have seen it described as mahogany, walnut, or stained beech in other listings. In overall very good condition, with some small bits of veneer loss as shown. One chip is gone from the bottom of a leg as shown-could be easily obscured with stain. This is a really stunning and rare piece to have in your collection! Rare Retro Danish Teak Wood Writing Desk With a Lift up Vanity Mirror Section From a local estate sale is this wonderful Teak Wood Desk. It can be used as a writing desk or a make-up vanity. It has three small pull out drawers on the inside with the middle drawer having a lift up mirror and there are three larger drawers below the desk area. The inside of the desk also has a couple of cubby shelves. If you look below the second shelf you can see someone has cut a small hole to pass cords through. I could not find any markers markings but I am guessing from other items in the house of this estate sale it is Danish and probably from the 60's or 70’s. It is of smaller proportions making it ideal for a smaller room. The approx. measurements are: 3’ 6½” tall/ 2’ 11” across the front and is 1’ 5¼” wide. The pieces were designed and crafted by Johnson Carper Furniture Company of Roanaoke for their"Fashion Trend" mid century modern Danish inspired line. The set includes a 5 drawer Chest of Drawers and a 6 drawer Dresser with its original mirror and hardware. It is some times difficult to find a set with the original mirror intact. But this sets includes the mirror and it is in good condition. The drawers have very cool sculpted wooden side pulls that are beautifully crafted. They stand out from the dresser and chest of drawers like wood carvings. Very functional art. Each drawer is solid wood and of dovetailed construction. The top is laminate. Mid Century Modern walnut with rosewood handle hardware dresser by Stanley. This line is by far and away the best the Stanley offered in the era. In my opinion. I am selling the matching gentleman's dresser, or highboy, separately. Both pieces have been refinished, but missing veneer work was not done, so, as you can see in pics 4& 8 there is slight edge veneer loss at the front side corners. In pic 5 you can barely see that the veneer has been re-glued. There are a few nicks here and there, and there are hardware circles around a couple of the drawer pulls, where the handles have been rotated and made a circle in the wood around. The hardware, as well as the design, makes this piece much more eye catching, with steel pulls and horizontal rosewood tips on each pull. This piece measures 54" x 32" x 18" deep. It has sliding tambour doors and a hidden vanity/valet drawer with lift top mirror and three compartments. I have to start off by saying this might be one of the nicest. Well constructed, high quality pieces of furniture that I have come across. The actual designer of this piece is undetermined but John Widdicomb had some of the best designers of the era making furniture for the company such as T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings and George Nakashima. This item features wonderful sculpted feet. With 10 dovetailed drawers for ample storage, and stunning bookmatched wood grain that is beautifully displayed at the joining of the top and sides of the dresser as seen in image#7 and#20. This bookmatching technique ... moretakes a highly skilled craftsman to make the veneer from the top and sides appear to be one continuous piece. Even the back of this dresser is very well constructed as pictured. The high style original solid brass star hardware are the perfect accent to this remarkable piece of furniture. This item dates back to around the 1960's and is in excellent vintage condition with only light signs of normal wear including some minor dings and light surface scratches but nothing substantial or out of the ordinary. The dresser measures approximately 31.5"h x 74"l x 20"deep.
