Art Deco Bauhaus Cocktail Martini Drinks Serving Tray Jazz Age Vintage Shaker
A Lovely Art Deco Bauhaus Period Glass over Marquetry Paint Effect Cocktail Tray This is a lovely example of an Art Deco/Bauhaus cocktail serving tray. The wonderful geometric design is created by reverse painting glass. Using a variety of wood veneer paint effects to create a marquetry feel, this is then back painted with a cream/off-white colour to complete the look. The tray is c.1930/40's. Dimensions are 14.25" x 9.25" Condition: The glass is in good condition with no scratches and the frame and structure are sturdy and without scratches or chips. There is a fair amount of paint separation(cream only) which I have photographed so please do check the photographs. Aside from that the condition is nice for it's age. Three stoneware plates produced by the Hael-Werkstatten[ Haël-Werkstätten] dating to the 1920s or early 1930s. They were designed by Margarete Heymann[Loebenstein] Marks; a remarkably talented artist who had trained at the Baushaus. Her teachers had included Johannes Itten and Gerhard Marcks. In the early 1920s. She and her first husband[Gustav Lobenstein] founded the Hael-Werkstatten. Their company was a member of the Deutscher Werkbund, an organization dedicated to progressive design. Margarete Heymann lost her husband in a traffic accident in 1928. She continued to run the Haël-Werkstätten until the Nazis forced her to sell the business. She and her sons fled Germany in 1935 and settled in England. She did freelance work for a number of important ceramics makers in the United Kingdom. Including Minton, Foley China, ... moreand Ridgways of Shelton. In the late 1930s she founded Grete Pottery. The firm did not, however, survive the Second World War. The lighter is in nice vintage condition with normal wear from age(please view pictures carefully) The lighter does spark when pressed but it has no butane so I do not know if it's still in working order. Architectural Studio Glass Vase-Hanns Model / Bauhaus-Mid Century-Venini-Germany
Architectural- Modernist Carved Glass Vase Circa 1960's- 1980's Attributed to Hanns Model ~ please scroll down for more photos ~ Very fine architectural- modernist carved glass vase with an elongated'battuto' surface, probably West German and attributed to well-known galss artist. Hanns Model. Unsigned- Circa 1960's- 1980's. Ground and polished. Slightly concave bottom. Polished top rim. SIZE: Height- 10" 25.4 cm) Diameter- 5" 12.7 cm) Weight- 2 lbs. 13 oz. The attribution to Hanns Model is not 100% definite. Without a signature, however I believe he is the maker of this piece. It was purchased at an estate in the San Francisco area in 1995 and has been in my own collection since that time. This piece is of the highest quality. It was blown into a fairly traditional modernist form and then expertly carved ... moreinto the layered shape that you see. The surface of the vase was finished by carefully grinding/ carving subtle patterns overall. Much like the'battuto' and'incisco' techniques used by Venini, Scarpa, and other Italian- Murano makers of note. It was no small task to to do this correctly and the combination of the shape and texture has made the vase into a stunning sculptural work of art. The bottom of the vase has been ground and polished. As has the top rim. There are no signatures or markings on the piece. This vase is in excellent condition with light wear to the bottom and several small. Light abrasions to the sides(which are hard to see and don't affect the look of the piece but are mentioned for accuracy in description) No chips or restorations. Although the attribution to Hanns Model is not definite. I am fairly certain that it is a 1960's- 1970's example of his work. He is known to use the same carving techniques, surface finishes, overall form and design, the unusual shaped lip, and often favors colorless glass. The lampshade is made of sheet metal lacquered forest green on the outside and white on the inside. The lampshade rests on a metal structure fitted around the bulb casing. The casing is itself encased in a metal cylinder lacquered petrol blue. It rests on a brass decorative fitting and the rest of the stem is made of metal lacquered forest green. The base is made of three brass feet fixed to a central brass base. The original switch is placed on the cord. The Philips label can be found inside the lampshade. The lamp is in good/fair condition and in full working order. There are age related scratches. Marks and chips on the petrol blue lacquer work. These are particularly prominent along ... morethe rim of the lampshade and on the bulb casing cylinder. The white lacquer work has similar age related markings. The lampshade also presents with a 2cm long shallow dent(please see pictures) The lamp takes one Edison screw(screw fit) bulb(not included) It is fitted with a UK plug. This clock has a multicoloured supergloss layer and curved brass details. Apart from the beauty. This clock works excellent! The hands and and numbers have are made of brass. These are probably around 90 years old. Not seen any other salts like them- they are still fresh and modern today. Made by Argentor Werke silver company of Vienna. Known for its Art Nouveau silver plate items. Argentor Werke was part of Wiener Werke(Vienna Works) A cooperative of sorts for new artists doing Art Nouveau. Art Deco work from 1890-1932. Original 1960s Table Lamp Mid Century Bauhaus Danish Modern 50s 70s Era
You are bidding on an original art deco table lamp. The lampshade is made red fabric backed with opaque white card to maximize light reflection and fitted onto a white metallic structure. The lampshade is fitted under the bulb casings and held in place by a small chrome lid. The base is made of polished metal a cover finished with teak or ash laminate. The original light switch is placed under the light bulb(see picture 6) The lamp is in good condition and in full working order. There are a few age related marks on the lamp. However. These do not interfere with the overall look of the piece. It is fitted with a UK plug. As with all vintage electrical equipment, it is advisable to have it checked by a qualified electrician. Materials: This is the famous and authentic"weather column" by Lufft in the rare chrome-plated execution(the most Lufft weather columns are brass-plated) The column features a hygrometer. A barometer, a thermometer and a compass. The"weather column" is famous for it's Bauhaus era design. It consists in glass, a wooden, black-laquered base and three bin feet. Below are the instructions(in German) Condition: Excellent. Used condition with normal signs of wear. The glass elements are all free from damages. The chromium-plate shows some dark stains(like age-appropriated) but no bigger scratches, dents, etc. Some losses of black lacquer on the base. A water jug by F. R. Fischer. Germany, pre-1915* Please scroll down for more pictures The jug is of spherical form with cup-shaped lid and curving thumb-rest and raffia covered handle. The jug itself is executed in hand hammered copper while the spout. Thumb-rest and handle in brass. It has interior pewter plating and bears the Fischer factory mark(two fish in an oval) the underside. Size: It stands at about 22 cm or 9 inches in height. Condition: Very good original condition. With only minor surface signs of age and use. There are no significant damages- just a couple of minor bumps to the metal. The fragile raffia handle is fragile but in good condition. This is a historically significant and extremely rare find dating from the end of the Art Nouveau period. A significant precursor of modernism. This design is held in the collection of ... morethe Bröhan Museum of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Functionalism, in Berlin and illustrated and described in the museum's catalogue, Modern Art of Metalwork, on page 155. Another example of this jug is on display at the Bauhaus Archiv in Berlin. It also appeared in the Deutsches Warenbuch of 1915 and bears close comparison to contemporary Deutscher Werkbund pieces by Peter Behrens. Bruno Paul, Josef Maria Olbrich and Richard Riemerschmid and others. In fact. In some volumes the design is firmly attributed to Riemerschmid, although this is not substantiated by Brohan, probably the most authoritative source. The Deutscher Werkbund(DWB) was a group founded by Peter Behrens and Josef Hoffmann and involving Walter Gropius among others to promote the marriage of artistic endeavour with mass production. They went on to exert enormous influence in the progess of modernist design and functionalism. Particularly in the formation of the Bauhaus. F. R. Fischer operated from a factory in Göppingen. Being offered is a is a fantastic three piece Art Deco/ Bauhaus style WMF hammered silver plate with Hutschenreuther p orcelain coffee set featuring butter yellow B akelite feet and finial. The coffee pot measures 9 1/2" tall. The creamer is 4" tall and the covered sugar is 3 1/4" tall with cover. Overall condition is excellent with mild handling wear from use. There are a few very minor chips on the finial(see picture 5& 11) Some coppe r showing through the silver in a several places on the high relief of the coffee pot(see picture 11) One spot of minor scratches(see picture 10) and there is minor tarnish on all the pieces. They belong to a new generation of items which- due to their reduced forms and decors- are made to transfer modern lifestyle on to basic commodities of daily life. This art grew in the normal course of life by artists and teachers. Moving themselves inside the spiritual surroundings of the Bauhaus Weimar and Bauhaus Dessau(Kandinsky, El Lesitzky, Hennig, Bollhagen, Buri, Friedlaender, and others) Unfortunately, the production of these works has been stopped after 1933; they were referred as degenerated art. Items, that hadn't been sold until that point of time, were partly destroyed. STUNNING CZECH BAUHAUS STYLE MODERNIST LAMP, “THE CYCLOPS”
For sale is a fabulous and very rare Czech modernist lamp designed in the late 1930s. According to one authority. The lamp was designed by Vaclav Kocura in 1938 and is model Vako 38. From his research he reports that this lamp was“developed as a discreet night light for reading” in a period just before the outbreak of the Second World War when Czechoslovakia was threatened by German aerial attack. That would explain the lamp’s remarkably intelligent design that allows for light to be directed in a concentrated fashion to meet the requirements of any blackout and to avoid detection at the same time. Another authority lists the lamp as having been designed by Zak Chran. Again. According to the first authority quoted, an example of this lamp is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts, Prague. This very rare and compelling ... morelamp is made of nickeled metal and consists of a rotating spherical shade with a single“eye” hence its nickname. The“Cyclops” lamp) that can be locked into position by tightening the serrated knob to the right of the shade. The lower portion of the globe rotates within the upper portion to allow more diffuse light when desired(and when conditions are safe given its history) There is a simple switch on the base. This lamp is in excellent untouched condition and works perfectly. The photos show some wear on the nickeled surface. It has a European plug that requires a simple adapter for use in the United States. It was purchased in Europe. Another example can be found on the most upscale design web store. 1stdibs, at several times the price of this one. The lamp is 15” high. The shade is 9” in diameter, and the base is 7” in diameter.
