Here for consideration is a magnificent chandelier by Gaetano Sciolari produced I imagine by lightolier with heavy brass. Heavy chrome, hundreds of glass rods and a feel much larger than the measurements suggest. This is a chandelier that can only be seriously appreciated in-person and not via photos. Plenty of photos provided showing details to see how good this is. Please review them all. General Description: Gaetano Sciolari has designed many great pieces. And this one is one of the largest designed. This exact chandelier may be found on first dibs, and another seller on ebay also has one listed with frankly, more alluring photos than mine- I do not have a studio. I photographed it with only about 40% of the rods in place due to the weight that was bearing on the ceiling hook. Twelve 40 watt bulbs illuminate 204 glass rods that are 18" each suspended on 6 solid brass and chrome plates that alternate in height. The quality of the brass and chrome is second-to-none. This chandelier came from an institution in West Virginia with a 7 foot chain linking it to a ceiling plate. The chandelier was kept in a humidity and temperature controlled environment which means it has survived well. It measures approx. 21" high from the top of the hanger finial to the bottom of the lower row of glass rods and is 21" wide. Condition: Brass and chrome is almost near perfect with only mention of some scuffing and light scratches to very few areas- not worth the mention but for the sake of accuracy must be. The only area to show any real patina is on the central spoke holding the three arms to the 6 fixtures. The janitors took good care of this but in the process over time. 5 of the glass rods have been broken- as the fixture has internal rods and external rods we recommend either sourcing 5 rods, or simply omitting them from the interior rod arra

The shades were identical, but I was never able to find the matching floor lamp, other than this one. This one is in working condition, but shows some condition issues. The plastic light diffuser melted when someone used too hot of a bulb at one time, there are a couple of dents in the metal base, and there are light speckles of white paint overspray, not terrible and should be easily cleaned off, but it's there. You can see the switch is slightly bent, I found this when I removed the shade and straightened it somewhat. I cannot ship this. It's just beyond my skill. Buyer has the choice of either paying a professional packer to pack this puppy, or better yet, just come pick it ... moreup. Other than the plastic shade issue, which isn't even noticable unless you look up directly under it, the issues are an easy fix for this rare floor lamp. Up for sale is a Gerald Thurston for lightolier. Sometimes mis-attributed to Mathieu Mategot. This is one of the earliest models judging by the power plug. Exceptional condition with many features, please see General Description and Condition sections. General Description: This is a quality item. A very early Gerald Thurston floor lamp standing 56" tall with a 23" diameter shade. A highly sought after Floor lamp with minimal footprint as an alternative to the Thurston tripod lamp(the model I'm selling is taller) It is capable of being tucked between furniture whereas the tripod model requires larger footprint area. This model has a very heavy poured 12" ... morewide ingot at the bottom stamped with model number and Lightolier's manufacturer mark, with the ingot itself having 6 feet as part of pour, resulting in the lamp being raised 1/2 above the ground. Above this rests a 12"metal curved thick plate cover, and above this a 7" white thick metal plate that contrasts the 3 poles that rise to the lamp diffuser and shade. The light socket is a three-way switch meaning three power levels can be used with an appropriate bulb providing the right lighting at various times from a soft glow to a full illumination of a room. Typically a 150 watt bulb is used. The white perforated metal sections disburse the light with concentration on downward and uninhibited up ceiling/wall washing. With a very large wide shade of 23" that does not blind you when being viewed, yet due to it's size provides a large amount of light. Finally the Linen shade has a 9" wide aperture at the top and 23" bottom with a 9" slant providing a very modernist line to the form of the lamp stand. Vintage 1930's Custard Glass Foyer/Bedroom Light (Lightolier?)
This is a custard glass foyer/bedroom light fixture from the 30's. It is in very good condition except for some small chips on the rim of shade which are noted in one of the pictures. When set in the original housing they do not show at all. Light is approx. 9 1/2 inches tall(with housing) and approx. 8 1/2 inches wide(glass shade) and domed. Has a nice ribbing on the sides and delicate daisy-like flowers. Delicate flowers are yellow with light orange accent. Green and blue pine needle type design behind the flowers. Tiny dimple in glass shade(manufacturing defect) Housing has porcelain piece inside with original wires attached(some paint on housing) Pictures don't show the true pale yellow custard glass color. Great Vintage Brass Teak Mid Century Table Lamp Lightolier? Laurel? Thurston?
This is a super vintage teak oval base and brass accent lamp from the 50's or 60's. It is not signed. But the shade is very reminiscent of those done by Thurston for Lightolier. It is all original and is in working condition with a 3 way switch that operates the 3 bulbs- 1-2- or all 3 lit. Condition of the base is great with no issues and very little wear. There is a plastic diffuser under the bulbs that gives off great ambience. As I have pictured, the shade has a few issues. The top ring at one time has come apart and someone long ago used ingenuity by using some silk ribbon to hold the top to the ring. There are also a couple of marks on the shade and normal browning to the interior paper. I have tried to picture these issues so please look before bidding. The lamp stands approx. 22" tall and the shade is approx. 20 1/2"in ... morediameter. The teak oval on the base measures approx. 9" in diameter. Vintage Modern Lightolier Adjustable Desk Lamp*Designed by Michael Lax for Lightolier in 1965. White lamp with long black extension cord. Works perfectly. The lamp lights up beautifully. Has two adjustments. One to extend the height of the lamp. And an adjustment for the ball head. Both of these adjustments are nice and tight, making it easy to adjust. The bottom of the lamp states that is has"Patents pending" and is"Made in Japan. When extended. The lamp is 16 1/2" high. The cube base is 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" Lamp is in Excellent Plus Condition. This chandelier is very UNIQUE! It was designed by Italian designer Geatano Sciolari for lightoleir. Google him! It's original home was in the entrance foyer of a T.V. studio in St. Louis. Missouri constructed in the 1960's. It measures 32" tall and 32" in diameter. 48" long including chain. It features at least 43 light sockets( as one is counting. I have three of these great vintage Lightolier ceiling light fixtures! We took these down when we bought our house. Which was built in the late 20s(so these didn't exactly go with the house) The man we bought the house from told us he remodeled the living room/dining room in 1954, so I'm assuming that is when he bought these. They are a great"flying saucer" shape. With frosted white shades that have little unfrosted spots for the ... morelight to shine through, and little bumpy designs in the unfrosted parts.there is a close-up picture of this so you can understand what I am saying. As a matter of fact, I have taken so many pictures that I believe a detailed description of what they look like is unnecessary. What is necessary is a detailed description of the few flaws they have. Because I do not want anyone to be disappointed if they buy them. These things are over 50 years old, so they are bound to have some dings. There are a couple of rough places on the edges of two of the"saucer" shades. Actually. Only one is actually chipped.the other one appears as if it has been"shaved" off, like with a plane, and is not rough.it could just be a manufacturing flaw. These are pictured closely. Neither are very noticeable from the bottom, which is how they will be viewed when they are installed. The chrome parts are all nice and shiny, but at a close range the"pitting" that is inevitable with chrome can be seen in some spots. The worst spot, on one of the vertical"legs" is pictured. LIGHTOLIER Vintage Hanging Ceiling Light, Chrome and Stacked Glass Mid-Century
This auction is for a Lightolier Mid-Century Modern hanging lamp. The lamp is stacked glass with chrome. 36 inch drop. 7 glass stack, the bottom cap is frosted glass. The top rings are 19 inches in diameter. The condition is good there is a hairline crack in the large stack of 3 that the screws had been tightened to much at some point and caused an interior fracture and a few minor nics with one chip out of one of the glass discs.really won't see when hanging. This is a great mid-century hanging ceiling lamp, very clean lines and when cleaned would look spectacular over a chrome and glass table. I estimate it as Ca. 1970's. Vintage Elec. Lightolier 1920's Frosted Glass Brass HANGING CEILING LIGHT LAMP
Offering up for sale a nice frosted glass shade brass electric hanging lamp by Lightolier from the 1920's. It measures 29 inches long including the tassle at the bottom. The shade is 16-1/2 inches in diameter and 5-1/2 inches tall. It is quite substancial and weighs about 13 pounds. The Lightolier logo inside the top but kinda rubbed off. The shade has a floral design. Very good condition for being almost 100 years old. There are some small chips at the top of the shade(won't show) and the top of the candle holder section is cracked but should'nt interfere with it's looks or working. The original electric cord is in great shape and the lamp does work. I will remove the shade and box separately for shipping. This 1930s pair of Art Deco sconces with custard slip shades are made of cast iron. Embossed brass, and cast brass. They have been restored in dark bronze, honey, and pale yellow with gold accents. Unfortunately remnants of the Lightolier decal“After Sunset” were lost in cleaning. These Lightolier sconces match a five-light Lightolier chandelier that is also listed. Original custard glass slip shades are in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. The glass slip shades are 6 1/4" in diameter& 3" tall. This allowed for instant gratification for the user and turned on or off the desired light instantly without having to cycle through a three way switch. This was particularly popular when the lamp was placed in a guest room with two beds and this would not interrupt someone's sleep by switching on their lamp in the cycling process. This lamp is in nice condition. There are a few scrapes and minor dings. But the lamp is extremely presentable and hardly shows its age at all. Not many of these are left any more. I’m very pleased to offer this amazing PAIR of 1960s fixtures by the incredible LIGHTOLIER company! I mean. Wow! ABOUT LIGHTOLIER Beginning in the 1920s. And for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company(extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply ... moredazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier! I have pair of similar bowtie fixtures listed but they are a Chevrolet as compared to the Rolls-Royce fixtures listed here. Each is priced accordingly. Similar bow-tie fixtures have stamped-aluminum back-plates with a brass-like finish. The mounting rods(the rods that extend from the back-plate to hold the shade) are simply threaded straight rods(the kind you buy from any hardware store) The shades are thin and with a simple pattern frosted on. The Lightolier fixtures shown here have stamped brass back-plates(all the metal parts are brass) The shades mount to a pair of curved tubes(see last image) that are quite lovely. Indeed. The fixture without the shade is attractive! Beautiful machining is typical of Lightolier. And the shades? Wow! They are thicker than you would expect, and have a pattern of white with what looks like gold glass melted onto the clear glass. Stunning. The shades also have a deliciously eccentric asymmetry.
