The wood has scratches and wear but still looks nice(see pictures) The seat and backrest material is worn, dirty, and is torn on some of the corners. We had planned on recovering them before we decided not to keep them. The chairs have"L" brackets added to the underside of each chair to give the seat portion more support. The wooden dowels that cover the screw holes on the sides of the chairs were glued in. When I took these chairs apart to get them ready for shipping, I cleaned the glue off of everything and added a double sided tape to hold the dowels in place when they are re-assembled. Although it is in excellent condition with very little signs of use. The foam is perfectly pliable and I am fairly certain it was replaced along with the upholstery. The walnut bases are very good with wear appropriate for age and use. Here is a set of 4 mid century modern Clifford Pascoe chairs. Designed for Modernmasters Inc. in 1951& was included in the 1952 Museum of Modern Art Good Design show. These chairs have no rust and solid welds. The chairs were painted when I got them. One of the chairs has been repaired. Although there is a wiggle in the repaired seat back(the close up shown) this wiggle has not increased or changed in 5 years. The chairs are easy to upholster. I covered these with a canvas Bastik fabric(hammock fabric from France) and then a layer of plastic. I know. Yuck plastic, but I have kids. It worked. On Feb-21-13 at 10:02:20 PST. It is from John Widdecomb's Modern Styles line and was the first time Mr. Robsjohn-Gibbings ventured from his usual design palate of more traditional design. Beautiful in it's simplicity, it would work perfectly in any home for it would compliment all styles of design. The table is round. W/o extensions it measures 48 inches in diameter and its height is 29 1/4 inches. Each of the 3 extensions measures 48 inches long and 16 inches wide making the table 96 inches in length when all extensions are used. Chairs are 32 inches high. Floor to seat is 19 inches. Seat depth 16 1/2 inches. Width 18 inches. The table top will definitely need to ... morebe refinished. Sometime in it's past. The original finish was removed on top of the table. It has spots and color fading. The rest of the table and the 4 chairs has the original finish on them. Along with the expected wear, scuff marks and some finish loss is noted on some of the chairs and table legs/sides. Some veneer is missing in some areas. The chairs have been recovered at least once and a previous covering seems to be in place under the current one. One of the extensions has drip marks on the underside which may indicate that they have been refinished in the past. When placed in the table, the color and finish match everything on the set BUT the top of the table. All of the extensions are stamped with the same number. There is no identification as to the maker but based on similar chair examples we have seen we believe it was made by Kalp-Sons. Santa Fe, Ca. The table has a harvest gold Formica top with rattan and cane edging and a rattan base. The rattan frame chairs have cane backs with cloth fabric seats having a butterflies print. Measurements: Table Height: 28” Table Top without Leaf: 43” x 55” Table Top with Leaf: 43” x 73” Table Leaf: 18” wide Chair Seat Height: 17” Chair Overall Height: 35” Seat Diameter: 18” Condition: As is typical of vintage and antique furniture. The caning on the back of one chair has been replaced and though it was a decent job. It is noticeable and not quite the same as the factory job. The cushions have been reupholstered with a butterfly print cloth and the seats are all in very good condition. A few screws have been added randomly to the bases of the chairs for tightening and strengthening and they are structurally solid. The base of the table is structurally solid and in very good condition. The original Formica top shows minor wear and is in very good condition. A nice feature of the table is the ease of installing and removing the leaf with the patented mechanism making it so only one person can easily do the job in seconds. The set shows a little wear from its intended use but certainly is presentable and displays nicely. Overall condition is very good and it will give many more years of service. 4 mid century Danish modern Arne Vodder Sibast dining chairs
Up for bid is a set of four vintage original Arne Vodder swivel backed dining chairs for Sibast. They Measure approx 31”t x 22”w x 21”d. They are in good vintage condition with typical scratches and marks and finish rub loss to arms and tops of back posts. The caning on the backs is in great shape. The seats are in good condition with a few spots and light wear. But were upholstered a bit thickly and with wrinkling around the edges from excessive foam. They are simple wrap and staple style for easy replacement. Of note is one round stretcher on one chair is rough and one of the captians chair arms has a gap where it meets the back rest. Walnut chairs were ve ry popular in the 1960's but production was greatly diminished due to the scarc i ty and high price of walnut lumber in the 1970's. Because of the price. M ost dark chairs since then have used a common wood and stained to look like walnut. The retro upholstery is in excellent shape. Th ese chairs are q uite sturdy and have many more years of use. They do have some typical wea r from years of use. A few dings, but as seen in the photos they are in very nice shape. These chairs measure 31 inche s high. By 19-1/2 wide, by 20 inches deep. They do not have the Knoll studio etching but you can tell from the pads and the way the vertical wires are welded onto the top bar that these are 100% authentic. Plus. You can't find Satin Chrome fakes, unless I'm wrong, which I could be. But these were purchased from a Knoll dealer and everything about the chairs is spot on. With only minor marks to the wood. All spindles and brass leg caps are in tact. One leg spindle, and a few of the seat backs and arms are a tiny bit loose-nothing a couple of drops of wood glue can't fix. Original upholstery. Two chairs have larger yellowing spots on the seats. Sadly. These had been horribly reupholstered by the previous owner and the foam that was used on top of the original upholstery disintegrated and left some yellowing around the edges of all 5 seats. Stunning set of 5 mid-century modern solid wood(walnut? dining chairs by The Basic-Witz Industries Furniture. Inc. Three side chairs and two arm chairs. Great vintage condition! Low backs. Rich color. You rarely see anything from Basic-Witz on the market. Furniture by this company appears difficult to acquire. Quite solid. With only minute marks to the wood. All spindles and brass leg caps are in tact. One leg spindle, and a few of the seat backs and arms are a tiny bit loose-nothing a couple of drops of wood glue can't fix. Original upholstery. Two chairs have larger yellowing spots on the seats. Sadly. These had been horribly reupholstered by the previous owner and the foam that was used on top of the original upholstery disintegrated and left some yellowing around the edges of all 5 seats. There is a 6th chair(a side chair. Not pictured) ... morethat is missing the upholstery, a leg spindle, and has a broken seat back that was badly repaired.
