Martz Tile table lamp Eames Era Walnut
Up for auction is this vintage Martz Floor Lamp with a tile table. The piece is in good/fair usable condition. It presents itself in very good condition. Some waterdamage to the tile top from a planter or two which were seated on the table. See the pictures for details as the grout has seperated a little from the perimeter wood boarder and the whole table is warped as well from years of haveing a heavy plant on one side. The top pole comes off the table at an angle which i assume is a bent support as the wood seems straight. I do have the original finial and a crazy shade which amy also be original. The lamp will be shipped without the shade as the as the cost to ship the shade may be too much. It will be the buyer choice and shipping price will change with the inclusion. Teak Wood Martz Lamp Finial, Marshall Studios, Danish Modern
This is a solid teak wood reproduction finial for the Martz and Marshall Studio lamps. Handcrafted in Ohio. The overall measurements are approximately 43mm in diameter and 31mm in height. The color may not be 100% accurate since teak wood can age differently along with the grain and different batches of wood. The last three photographs show the reproduction next to an original which is on the left. Since this is the only original that I have owned and seen personally I assume other originals could vary in color depending on their age etc. Martz finials were also made of walnut. Including the brass fixture itself. The lamp is 12 in. tall. The lamp’s design does not include a harp and we do not have a shade for it. The lamp has an incised Martz signature to the left of the opening for the cord. Condition is excellent. The glaze tones vary a bit in terms of intensity. With some areas slightly darker than others a small spot at the base of the neck having a touch of show through to the underlying clay. Some areas feel velvety to the touch and in other areas. One can feel a slight roughness that's likely caused by impurities in the clay. All of this is due to the hand made nature of the lamp. There is a pin prick-size ... moreglaze pop on the upper neck of the lamp. The cord is a bit dirty and could probably use a cleaning. It also feels slightly dry but the lamp works fine. MID CENTURY MODERN FLOOR LAMP! 1950s Fiberglass Cone Shades Atomic Vintage Martz
E P I C! Mid Century Eames Era FLEXIBLE ARMS FLOOR LAMP FIBERGLASS CONE SHADES 1950's The brass flexible arm floor lamp was something of a luxury in the 50's. Made of a metal pole with brass and wood trim and two flexible arms attached to fiberglass lamp shades. An excellent example of the Martz and Eames influence in lamps. It lends itself to endless configurations. This model is one of the more deluxe lamps of its type because of the contrast between brass and wood. It stands 78" at its tallest configuration. Sits on a 10" metal base that has some corrosion, see photos. The 10" fiberglass shades have a threaded fitting that screws on to the bulb socket. The lamp is show 40 watt bulbs and will use up to 75 watt for more light. Each lamp socket has an on/off switch. This auction is for a VINTAGE Marshall Studios Martz blue matte incised ceramic lamp. It’s in excellent condition with no damage. No chips, no cracks or no crazing. From an original Marshall Studios catalog. This style lamp was called a Model M105. Measurements are 12” high to top of the socket by 19 3/4” in diameter and 6” wide. Will include a harp. It has the Martz signature at the bottom where the cord comes out and the original electrics- a one way socket. It works– I couldn’t get a picture without glare. It has the original UL label. Elongated body with soft Matte finished ceramic base on top of a wood foot(possibly teak) with Rosewood stem that tapers upwards and crowned with burlap covered fiberglass type shade lining. 2 bulb with on/off switch at base. Works very well. This piece measures 24" in height& 7 1/2" wide at base. Shade measures 14" in diameter& 8" in height. This piece is in excellent vintage condition but has been used so there are slight signs of wear. This stands 32& 1/4 inches to the finial rest with the pottery portion standing 17 inches tall. 7 inches across at the bottom tapering down slightly to 6 inches at the top. Offered for sale is this great. Signed GORDON MARTZ for MARSHALL STUDIOS TABLE/BEDROOM LAMP. With INCISED, SPIRALING MARKINGS on the CERAMIC BONE-WHITE GLAZED BODY with ORIGINAL WOOL WRAPPED CLAMP LAMPSHADE. The overall height of the entire lamp. Including the shade, is 16 3/4. The wool lampshade measures 9 1/2" in diameter and is 7" in height. It's in wonderful condition with no surface issues. Scratches, cracks, chips or anything that would prevent me from suggesting that this smaller profile Gordon Martz table lamp, designed for a bed table or dresser, isn't in excellent to near mint condition. The wool lampshade appears to be original to the table lamp and is a clasp-style shade, therefore there's no harp or walnut finial. The wool on the shade still retains its good color and doesn't have any pulls, discoloration, ... morestaining or fabric loss. The interior plastic sleeve of the shade however, has a small one inch in length crack that occurred as the result of a previous impact against it. It is barely noticeable. Otherwise, this Martz table lamp is a wonderful example of his work, with the iconic form of his oft repeated two-tiered, tapered ceramic base. With this lamp though, instead of continuing the ascenscion with a walnut stem that leads up to the electronic bulb assembly, as we see in some of his other lamps, here Martz chose to continue with the ceramic surface until it meets with the metal bottom plate of the bulb assembly. This is a very handsome, active lamp that will not'get lost' or be somehow'missed' if adorning a bed table or bureau. It's a great lamp in almost perfect condition. The red felt is period and I left it on to illustrate that the piece is right out of a home where it had only one previous owner, who applied the felt to protect wooden surfaces it came into contact with back when it was originally purchased. OVERALL CONDITION: EXCELLENT/NEAR MINT!

Offered for sale is this austere. Sleek and very handsome Mid-Century Modern original, signed GORDON MARTZ for MARSHALL STUDIOS TABLE LAMP with SPECKLED MUSTARD CERAMIC BODY with WALNUT STEM and FINIAL. The lamp measures 23 3/8" in overall height including the original shade harp and walnut finial. It measures 4 7/8" in width and is 11 3/8" to the top of the walnut stem over the ceramic body. It's very Minimalist and restrained in its conceptual approach. With a slowly graduating ceramic body design that tapers slightly as it ascends to the central walnut stem. The harp and walnut finial are original to the lamp. The lamp didn't come with a shade. There's one imperfection right at the very base of the ceramic body, which isn't a chip or a crack but a'bruise' the clay body suffered before it was fired ... moreor that occurred as it was being fired. It's almost unnoticeable and doesn't affect the structural integrity of the lamp. It measures about only 3/4" across. The ceramic body has gorgeous speckled mustard satin glaze and there's only the very slightest imperfection in the application of colored glaze, right at the very top of the ceramic body below the walnut central stem. Again, this is quite minor and doesn't detract from the appearance or appreciation of this very fine period GORDON MARTZ table lamp. It's incised"Martz" at the electrical cord outlet opening in the ceramic body near the base. The wiring and non-polarized plug are all original to the lamp. There are no scratches or marks otherwise on the entire ceramic body and the finial and walnut central stem are in near perfect condition. This is a great original period Martz table lamp with fabulous, understated form and wonderful, complex colored glaze. They joined the ... moreMarshall Studios in Veedersburg, Indiana, founded by Jane's grandmother Jesse in 1922, and operated by the family including Jane's father Nicholas Marshall and her mother Grace, originally to produce lampshades and woodwork. For the next 38 years, the Martzes at Marshall Studios designed and produced a wide variety of functional ceramic housewares including stoneware lamps, dishes, and tiles. The bodies of their ware were formed by slip-casting, ram pressing, or jiggering, and the pieces were hand decorated. Their work was recognized by a design award from the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, which also has some of their work in its permanent collection.

Up for auction is a great vintage mid 20th century Martz teak and ceramic lamp. Beautiful earthy colorway of turquoise blue with brown. Squat form with a teak neck and brass finial. Signature on lower back. In great condition with normal signs of age. No damage. Does not come with a shade. Please see photos carefully for details.
