Burmese wooden carved figurines of a Man and a Woman: About 5" tall and 1 1/2" thick These are really old figurines and show their age: both figurines have small chips, a fraction of an inch. Antique Burmese 27" Hand Painted Carved Wooden String Marionette Jointed Puppet. This is an awesome 27" antique hand painted and hard wood carved Burmese marionette. Fully jointed string puppet. He is dressed in a traditional silk and sequin costume. He is an early hand carved example with two part jointed fingers and working mouth movement. This marionette comes with all it's original(I believe) strings and a wooded carved top puppet controller. His face, feet and hands are all hand painted in white, with red and black decoration detail. His beard I believe is made from horse hair pony tails. His style and design is typical of his period and I would date him to possibly early 1900's. I believe him to be a Burmese marionette. His strings are tangled and the one working his mouth needs replacing but otherwise in condition ... moreis excellent with only minor surface blemishes due to age and use. They are carved from wood( almost like balsa wood, so light weight) detailed painting and little sequins attached to glimmer. The one with the blue jacket with pink pants has a crack in the elbow. Exceptional 18th Century Burmese Carved Wooden Gilt Laquer Large Buddha
I kindly welcome any and all input from Ebay experts 18th Century Shan Buddha. Burma. Burmese wooden buddha sitting in Mara Vijaya(calling the earth to witness) posture on a base. With meditative facial expression, emphasized by the half-closed eyes which look downward, much original lacquer& some gilt remaining in excellent condition. He his carved from one large tree trunk or piece of native wood. Heavy& Thick Lacquer and was gilted. He was appraised by Bonhams and Butterfield 15 years ago for Mr Rothschild. I'm in the process of finding that appraisal but it was for significantly more money. This classic Burmese bronze Buddha from the late 17th/early 19th century. Is softened with roundness in the face and body. This Buddha is in extremely good condition, with some evidence of exposure to weather which has created a warm glowing ... morepatina however the finial is lacking. a heavy 18" tall. In one picture his depth and size is compared to a 13th century bronze in the collection. My best guess at weight is he's over 10 pounds. This is a very interesting hand made relic brought home from Vietnam after the war. It appears to be all hand made and has very ornate hand carved wood handle and scabbard. The hilt is loose. The scabbard is made of two separate pieces of wood. And held together with brass bands. It is missing one band, and also is kind of loose feeling, overall a superb decorative piece!
