The etchings in the silver blade are clear. Areas of tarnish do exist. There are several small nicks along the unsharpened edge, especially near the tip. Blade is straight, but a little loose in the hilt. Hilt is in excellent condition with only some 'small curves' at the base. This could be due to being made by hand. Fits snugly into sheath. Sheath is also in very nice shape for it's age. There are the same 'small curves' along the edge where the hilt snaps in. Two areas where sections have come apart, shown in photos.

BURMESE SILVER BOX SIGNED - Early 1900's - EXQUISITE WORKMANSHIP
This is a box I bought in Burma back in 1997. During that time the country highly restricted tourism and so there were still antique Burmese handcrafted silver boxes available. This one is estimated to be early 1900's. I made the decision to clean it. It took me three hours but I took off over a 100 years of tarnish and dirt. This is now how it looked the day it was crafted. See the final four photos for comparison before and after. The dimensions when closed: 2 3/4 inches in length. 2 inches in width, 2 1/2 inches in height. The weight: 5.6 ounces or 160 grams. Betel boxes are used in Southeast Asian cultures to hold betel nuts-a palm nut wrapped in a betel vine leaf which is chewed similar to tobacco-although it can be used to hold anything you want! Or leave it empty-it's a beautiful decorative piece! The box is silver. It is marked"T90" on the bottom. It's 90% silver and it has been tested. It measures 3" tall and 2 1/8" wide. It's small. Rare Antique Burma / Burmese Sword Dao / Dha Silver mounts No Reserve
The Dao was the national sword of the Naga tribe of Burma. They were fierce warriors and head hunters. This one is a classic example in fine antique condition. The hilt has a red painted or dyed wood or Bamboo root grip. At the blade end there is a heavy silver ferrule. The pommel which looks like bone but is the more expensive natural materiel has a nice age patina. On top. See photo, is an inlaid" cross" design which is outlined in brass. The maker took a lot of time to put this in this extra ornamentation. The flared straight single edged blade is hand-forged with a gray patina and a squared tip. One side near the tip has some age pitting. This blade is still fairly sharp. The are several good honest edge nicks and some cuts on the back also. This sword was used in battle. BURMESE DHA TEMPLE SWORD HAND HAMMERED WITH SILVER INLAID BLADE This unusual sword is quite a piece with all of the hand work to the sheath as well as the a double side scribed blade with silver foil and wire inlay hammered in multiple designs and writing. The age of this piece is unknown. It has been a part of my medieval/ skull collection however i am letting some of the items go. This would make a great vintage conversation piece. I am getting rid of some great items as our house has become toooo cluttered. So check for other items i will be listing. ANY items shown in the background of photos are not included in the listing. DIMENSIONS: The overal lenght is 46 inches. the length of just the blade is 30 inches and for the blade and handle is 44-1/2 inches. The width of the sheath is ~ 2 inches. the width of the blade at the widest point ... moreis 1-1/2 inches. DETAILS/CONDITION: The sword blade has a cross hatched etching almost the entire length of the blade on both sides and within this area are multiple scene designs hammered in silver wire and silver foil. The blade edge is not really sharp and the blade does show some minor pitting in a few areas most likely due to the age. There areare 8 different figures and 1 foo dog hammered into each side of the blade. There is also writing hammered into the blade however it is in a language i cannot understand. I am a collector of many eras however I am not an expert on any particular one and my knowledge only comes from research. So please ask any questions prior to purchasing! The only thing I did to this is wiped it off from dust accumulation, from sitting in my living room along with all of my other oddities and mid century modern eames era items. It took me an extended search and much travel time to locate five authentic Burmese silver boxes; however. I found a lady from Burma who dealt in Burmese jade; these items were in her family's collection. After much conversation and some purple jade buying I secured them and they have been with me for thirty years. They are highly decorated: The octagon box weighs 70+grams- approximately1.75H X 2.5 X 2.5 inches& decorated with birds. Flora and nice floral panels on the side. The large round box weighs 59+ grams and has a 2.75 inch diameter& 2 inches high- floral motif. The small round weighs 48+ grams& is 2.5 inches in diameter& ... more1.75 inches high-floral motif. The larger oval box weighs 47+ grams& is 1.86 H X 2.5 X 1.75 inches- it has an elephant on the lid and birds on the ling side The smaller oval box weighs 31+ grams and is 1.5 inches high x 1.5 x2- it has a classic pattern used of punctuated swirls. A small repousse bowl w/ an Asian figural dance scene. I am not an Asian collector. So I am not sure of the exact origin of the piece. It reminds me of antique Burmese silver repousse bowls, but it may be from another part of the Eastern world(like Thailand or India as a guess) It appears to be silver, but it is not marked as such. I do not think these would have been marked anyway. I do not have a silver test, so I cannot be sure that it is pure or partial silver. I do feel that it has some age and hopefully the photographs will help an interested bidder. It measures about 3 1/2" in diameter at the top and is about 2" deep. It weighs about 2.3 ounces(that is regular ounces, not troy ounces if silver) It does have a mark on the bottom, but it too, is hard to decipher. It appears to have been made by small punch marks. My grandfather lived in Burma(present day Myanmar) in the 1930s and 40s and he brought back many treasures. Including this beautiful repousse' sterling silver cylindrical box. It measures approximately 3 1/2" in height with the lid on, and 3 inches wide. This particular piece displays four hunting scenes with deer and a bow and arrow. There is a boat scene on the lid. It is a beautiful piece of art! Some silver polish is still in the grooves, but I have not polished this recently. It has been stored away for 40 years. There are two large try-fold pieces measuring approximately 6" long and 4" in height. Up for bid is neat old Burmese Dah fixed blade knife. The knife was obtained with some military items and was presumably brought home as a souvenir by a WWII American serviceman. The knife measures 16.75 inches while in the scabbard. The blade alone measures 9 inches in length. The knife exhibits some period wear and use but remains in fairly solid condition. The knife and scabbard exhibit some small dents& dings. Blade has some oxidation and light rust. The bone handle has a few small tight age cracks. Neat old knife. This is a very old guaranteed silver cylindrical box. Which is either Burmese, Indian, Siam or other such Southwest Asia region. Measures 3" diameter& 4" tall with feet. gold silver red black lacquer antique Burmese prayer tablet pages. 5"x27" hand painted in Myanmar by monks. one of 4 pieces painted both sides. The Kammavaca represents the formal monastic ceremonies or acts as depicted in the Vinaya. The old Kammavaca script were usually written with an extract from the tamarind seed and the more modern ones with black lacquer. They were made in several different sizes and from several different types of materials such as palm leaf. Ivory, stiffened cloth and metal with a background of gold leaf, silver or red lacquer on both sides.
