ANCIENT BURMESE BRONZE ELEPHANT BELL
ANCIENT BURMESE BRONZE ELEPHANT BELL 4 1/4" high x 3 1/4" wide I bought this bell from a Burmese farmer on a site in Burma's ancient captial. Pagan, where he had dug it out of his field. I don't know how old it is. But my guess would be over 100 years. A great collector's item
Antique 19th Century Bronze Burmese Bell Kyeezee Spinning Gong Elephant Howdah
Up for sale is an antique heavy bronze kyeezee or burmese bell. Gong can be suspended from a cord and held in hand while striking the tip with a small wooden mallet. Thus causing it to sound and spin simultaneously. This traditional Burmese instrument features a large elephant with a howdah perched on its back. The relief is duplicated on the reverse. It appears to be cast bronze with an engraved design. I had listed this item previously as an amulet or medallion before having it properly appraised. Despite its intended purpose, it can certainly be worn as an amulet on a leather cord or simply used as a decorative paperweight. It measures approximately 6 by 4 inches. Piece shows some wear with a dark patina. Piece is unmarked and the true age is unknown. I did notice, however, a mark on the reverse side of the bale but I do not know if this ... moreis a hallmark. Piece probably originates from Myanmar and would have been used by Buddhist monks in their temples. Piece was lightly cleaned before being photographed. You may wish to have it professionally cleaned or polished. Please contact me if you have any questions. Need a quote for international shipping, or require additional photos. Be sure to view my other listings as I have additional antiques, costume jewelry, gold, and sterling silver pieces for sale.
