The etchings in the silver blade are clear. Areas of tarnish do exist. There are several small nicks along the unsharpened edge, especially near the tip. Blade is straight, but a little loose in the hilt. Hilt is in excellent condition with only some 'small curves' at the base. This could be due to being made by hand. Fits snugly into sheath. Sheath is also in very nice shape for it's age. There are the same 'small curves' along the edge where the hilt snaps in. Two areas where sections have come apart, shown in photos.

Four priests point to the four directions of the compass and appear to be sitting on an open lotus blossom. There is great detail on their dress. Even their shoes. Their faces are fixed in a peaceful expression, hands folded and pointing up in typical prayer position. They are wearing the high tiered hats seen so often in Siam and countries ... morenearby. I believe they may be Buddhist as Buddha is depicted differently than China and India. At one time Burma kept Indian captives after defeating them in battle and their influence is apparent. I am not sure what type of wood it is. It seems sturdy enough and has a lovely reddish cast which does not appear to be from staining. The lamp stands 31" to the top of the harp. It does not have a finial. I think I would find some unusual one, a piece of mineral or a wood carving would be perfect. The lamp works perfectly. The plug appears to be from the 50's. I have two wonderful authentic antique Nats for sale this week. This sale is for the one pictured only. I bought these two in Burma in the early 90’s back when Burma saw fewer than 40.000 foreign visitors per year. At that time true antiques were easy to find but today it’s nearly impossible and sadly most are fakes. These two Nats are very weathered and this one is a little more rough- the paint on the left side of his face is nearly gone from age and environment and his hair has fallen from the bun/wrap. Vintage Burma Or Myanmar Marionette Burmese Puppet Doll With Mustache 26" Tall
I'm offering a wonderful. Hand carved and painted, vintage Burmese marionette– puppet. This Myanmar, traditional doll, measures 26" from top of his hat to the bottom of his wooden feet. He is a fabulously dressed in a purple velvet jacket and multi print pants with silver metallic trim. He has a gold sequined collar. He has a mustache, probably horse hair, and a moveable mouth. His neck is carved with a separate disc to make it more movable, as are his legs which have two sections. This is a marvelous piece of ethnic workmanship. All strings are still attached(I think) There are small flecks off the paint here and there(especially the nose) But he is fairly clean and I can see no major damage. To make lacquer containers. Sap is drawn from the Melanorrhoeausitata tree found in North-eastern Burma. A dozen or more coats are then applied to the object resulting in a beautiful lustre that is waterproof and very durable. The object is then deftly decorated with a fine metal point which is used to etch grooves that are then filled with coloured lacquer. The object is left to dry and then polished. This process is repeated several times and requires great skill, experience and time. A vessel of this size and level of detailed decoration would have taken 4-6 months to complete. Greetings- This a lovely example of an Antique WW2-Era. Handmade, Burmese/Myanmar Dha. Yes, it does function, and have an edge. The scabbard is made of a lightwight dark-stained wood. And has 18 metal bands. There are no cracks in the scabbard, the 2 wood pieces are whole. The sword hilt is mixed metal alloy and wood. Blade is carbon steel. An 8" long groove decorated with exquisite hand-inlaid copper and silver wire flowers are on the two sides of the blade, extending from the handle. This hand-inlaid wire art is unlike anything I've ever seen, and will be absolutely beautiful when cleaned of tarnish. Well-balanced, the blade has a natural heft to it. Antique Burma Burmese Myanmar Polychrome Lacquer Dancing Nat Goddess Painting
This is a polychrome rendering in lacquer on wood of a dancing nat or spirit. The nat is a woman. I believe, who is smiling and dancing on a flower while holding what is possibly a bow or some kind of curved stick that has a deer head attached to it. It might possibly be the goddess Sita from the Ramayana, but I am not sure. She seems to be wreathed in fire as well. The piece measures 16 inches from top to bottom and 12 inches across. The top is in very good condition with a few minor marks and a place in the top left corner that looks like someone sat a glass on it at one time. Description: A magnificant early 19th to 20th century Burmese Shan States Buddha Head fragment. Modeled in traditional'Ava' style, hollow, made of dry lacquer, a technique used in Burma called'Thayo' Which is a type of relief-moulded lacquer. xxxx The actual process. Entailed the use of layers of lacquer soaked cloth, applied by hand over a clay core, dried, before a malleable layer of lacquer, which is a mixture of sap from the'Melanorrhoea Usitate tree' teak sawdust, and straw ash, was formed as a putty, and used in creating final facial details and hair-curls, once dry, several coats of filtered high grade lacquer would have been applied, alowed ... moreto harden, than the gold leaf applied. When the sculpture hardened completely the clay core was removed. The head is sensitively rendered with a softly contoured face and serene contemplative expression. With arched eyebrows bowed high towards the forehead, set above heavy-lidded eyes, a narrow well-shaped nose, bow-shaped lips with an insipid smile, and prominent elongated ears. The head is covered in thorn-like hair curls, surmounted by a domed'Ushnisha' rising to a stylized lotus bud finial, which is a separate piece, called a'Kecil' pinnacle) carved of teakwood sits in the sculpted hole on the top of the head. The surface has a beautifully aged gilded gold patina, re-applied over the original silver lacquer underlayment, and the varnished black lacquer pigment base coat; with detailing of the lips finely painted in red lacquer pigment, and with silver eyes accented by black pupils.
