Unique Burmese/ Burma Enameled Silver Shan Dha(Sword) This is a traditional Shan dha(dha is sword) in Burmese. The sword is made of wood with silver overlay. The blade is steel and hand forged. It has an impressed"pistol" brand/mark. Research indicates it dates from late 19th to early 20th century. The swollen pommel, hilt and scabbard are silver. It is decorated with colorful niello enameling. It has a bright red& green original carry cord. The dha is approx. 20" long. The silver has darkened patina, but could be polished brightly if desired. I find no issues to mention regarding significant damage. The tip appears broken off, but research indicates this sword was made with curved tip. Rare Antique Burma / Burmese Sword Dao / Dha Silver mounts No Reserve
The Dao was the national sword of the Naga tribe of Burma. They were fierce warriors and head hunters. This one is a classic example in fine antique condition. The hilt has a red painted or dyed wood or Bamboo root grip. At the blade end there is a heavy silver ferrule. The pommel which looks like bone but is the more expensive natural materiel has a nice age patina. On top. See photo, is an inlaid" cross" design which is outlined in brass. The maker took a lot of time to put this in this extra ornamentation. The flared straight single edged blade is hand-forged with a gray patina and a squared tip. One side near the tip has some age pitting. This blade is still fairly sharp. The are several good honest edge nicks and some cuts on the back also. This sword was used in battle. Here's a genuine vintage/ antique Burmese/ South East Asia/ Vietnamese Dha sword. Included is a wood(type unknown) scabbard/ cover with string accents. It measures a total of 37" with the scabbard/ sheath. And the sword itself measures 34 1/2" The blade is 23" long. This was brought back from Vietnam by Lieutenant Kenneth J. Parkhurst Air Force. It is just as I got it in 1980. The sheath has some chips where the blade goes into it on the top& bottom. And common wear. It is in better condition than many I have seen on here for twice as much. Antique Burmese Dha Knife, Sword, Extremely Rare Grip
This is an extremely rare dha. About 30cm OAL. Typically these will have a tusk or tooth in the grip, but this particular example has a tooth from a certain large feline predator, making it a very unique example. I am told by an expert on these knives and swords that this animal has very special significance among the Karen people. The rest of the knife is complete. The silver work is excellent. The age of this piece is unknown. It has been a part of my medieval/ skull collection however i am letting some of the items go. This would make a great vintage conversation piece. DIMENSIONS: The overal lenght is 46 inches. the length of just the blade is 30 inches and for the blade and handle is 44-1/2 inches. DETAILS/CONDITION: The sword blade has a cross hatched etching almost the entire length of the blade on both sides and within this area are multiple scene designs hammered in silver wire and silver foil. The blade edge is not really sharp and the blade does show some minor pitting in a few areas most likely due to the age. There areare 8 different figures and 1 foo dog hammered into each side of the blade. There is also writing hammered into the blade however it is in a language i cannot understand. I am a collector of many eras however I am not an expert on any particular one and my knowledge only comes from research. So please ask any questions prior to purchasing! Old Antique style Burmese/Shan Sword DHA(Real Fighting Sword) With Sheath and Rope I got this unique piece of quality handmade work from a local black smith up in the mountains of Burma. This short sword has a hand forged Shan style blade with makers mark in burmese letters on the blade. The blade is made of steel that is hard and sharp. Yet still flexible and springy enough not to snap in half. The sheath is made of dark wood wrapped with yellow brass in a traditional style, comes with a red rope around the sheath aswell. This is a real fighting sword, meaning the sword is functional for many kinds of use. This sword was used by the Burmese and Shan army during the Lanna Kingdom 13th-18th C. And till this day the Shan State Army and the Burmese Army are still utilising these swords to fight. This is a good example of a Burmese Dha Sword that dates from the early 20th Century. It is mounted with a very well made. Heavy blade that measures 19 inches in length which remains in nice condition with only some minor surface stains and is beautifully detailed on either side with decorative engravings. Antique Burmese Temple DHA Koftgari Buddhist Story Saber Sword Burma w/ Scabbard
For Sale I have a 19th Century Burmese Temple/Story Dha(saber sword) I did not know a whole lot about these until I picked this. And a bunch of other Asian antiques up from an estate auction. I did some research online and apparently t his kind of sword is referred to as a"story dha. because the blade decoration typically depicts a story from Burmese folklore, or a Buddhist Jataka. It has silver koftgari on the blade. Including Burmese script; this type of dha is sometimes used ritually in"nat" spirit) festivals, such as the Festival of the Spirits in Taungbyon, Burma; called by some"temple dha, but it is unclear if this label is accurate. I am no expert on these swords, but it looks authentic to me, especially considering the lot it came from. Dha Sword Myanmar/Burmese w/Scabbard WW2-Era owned by Flying Tiger R Keeton
Greetings- This a lovely example of an Antique WW2-Era. Handmade, Burmese/Myanmar Dha. Yes, it does function, and have an edge. The scabbard is made of a lightwight dark-stained wood. And has 18 metal bands. There are no cracks in the scabbard, the 2 wood pieces are whole. The sword hilt is mixed metal alloy and wood. Blade is carbon steel. An 8" long groove decorated with exquisite hand-inlaid copper and silver wire flowers are on the two sides of the blade, extending from the handle. This hand-inlaid wire art is unlike anything I've ever seen, and will be absolutely beautiful when cleaned of tarnish. Well-balanced, the blade has a natural heft to it. I have not used it, as I would like to keep it in the best condition for sale. Feel free to ask any questions. Antique Burmese Dha with Rayskin hilt and brass fiitings - late 19th century
This is a dha in great condition. Light patina, with Chinese-style brass saber fittings. Originally purchased at arms and armor auction in the late 1990's, it is somewhat of a"mystery" piece but the blade is very sharp, well proportioned for it's purpose(a little blade heavy in balance but it's a chopper style anyway" and clearly well formed, with a decent polish and very little waviness if any. This is not a poor reproduction or"tourist" item(as is common throughout the period) but a solid, genuine weapon-grade blade in some nice brass fittings. The handle is wood with rayskin, a little worn but still very functional.
