Please let us know as we will make the correction. As we list all kind of different items, please see the pictures. We had tried our best for the pictures but somehow sometime it’s not perfect, sometime the light was difficult to catch, also some reflections. The antique set of hsun-ok with tray and ashtray that you see on picture is really the one on this auction. So yes I had to do some research to see what it was and first I thought it was an opium paraphernalia set but with time i realised it was for ... moresure coming from Asia. Probably from Birma or Thailand because of the lion similar to the burmese temple-pagoda guardian lion. So finally I realised it was similar to the HSUN-OK After I went to an official jeweler and he told me it is gold-leaf on lacquerware. So I was happy of my found and I came back home to find more about this scarce item. The antiquarian told me it was coming from a King in Asia and after that man came in Canada and worked as a doctor in Montreal. He kept that collectable in his big house until he pass away at the age of 96. So I don’t know more about the history of this collectable. Probably from the 1890-1900. This very desirable and rare set of gold-leaf lacquerware pagoda bowl tray& ashtray is absolutely wonderful and would fit in any showroom of the world. Believe me. Dimensions: pagoda is 9'3/4 height. Vintage Burmese Lacquerware Lunchbox
Am slowly downsizing a sizeable collection of artifacts from around the world. Gathered not just by myself in 40+ years of travel, but from older relatives as well. Time to pass on this lovely vintage Burmese(Myanmar) lacquerware'lunch box' Bought in 1972 in Chiang Mai. Thailand. If not familiar with these ingenious kits, you'll see from the photos that once assembled, it transports easily carried by the handle. Comes apart to provide a tea cup and saucer, a rimmed plate, a deeper bowl for soups and curries, and of course the large main vessel which would be used to carry the food and later, filled with water for washing the dishes. Certainly useful but these days it's strongest purpose is most certainly decorative! In excellent condition. There is a small chip to the saucer which I've shown in the photos. Stands 12.5" ... moretall and is 7" in diameter. The painting is classic Burmese. From the matte orangey red colour through to the decorative green and black'dancing elephants in the jungle' along the sides. If wavering about whether or not to bid. Please do a Google search for'Burmese lacquerware lunch kit' new.this one has some age) and you'll be astounded at the price they fetch on antique and home decor sites. Finally. Please note that the shipping price I've quoted applies to continental North America only, and even at that is very reasonable. I'm happy to ship to a winning bidder overseas but please ask for shipping options to your location before the listing ends. Nothing worse than'winning' something and then finding out that the shipping costs are prohibitive. Thanks for looking!
