This is an excellent work and reveals for instance that major ports for these tiles exportations was Montevideo(Uruguay capitol) and Argel(Algeria) These wonderful tiles( azulejos carreaux) are one of most exquisite item you can acquire for your home decor. On stoves and fireplace with wood, summing up they will go well with everything. Mixing different patterns is a good idea too. As you will have a uniform looking as all these tiles were done using the same white tone and just blue and dark violet but also variety of patterns. Antique German Tile Set Pink Flower Framed MOPF Vorm
These antique tiles. Including the frame, measure 11 5/8" x 6" The frame is silver metal, backed by wood, with an opening to show the marks on the back of the tile that identify them as VORM MOPF. The tiles have a wonderful striking appearance. There are some flaws, along the edges of the tile, for example. The chips don't seem so noticeable as the clay underneath the glaze is also white. I didn't even realize they were there for a very long time, but now that I do seem them, I have to mention them. There are also some areas on the bottom tile that have what might be a little kiln debris fired right into the tile. I've added closeups to you can tell what I'm talking about. Set of 16 Antique 1890s American Columbia Encaustic Tile Company Floral Relief
Set of 16 antique American Columbia Encaustic Tile Company tiles decorated with a lovely earth green glaze and flowers in relief. Circa 1890s. MEASUREMENTS: each tile measures 6x6 inches and is about 1/2 inch thick. LET’S TALK CONDITION: Overall very fine condition for the age with typical glaze crackling with only a few tiles with cracks on the back still very sturdy. There are some chips on a few tiles but that is on the back one tile has a small chip to the corner visible from the front and a couple of tiles have small flakes to the glaze on the front. Most all the old grout and adhesive is gone but some remnant is still attached. Up for selling is a rare vintage Japanese six tile set depicting Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal is among the seven wonders of the world. The six tiles are high relief majolica and joined together they form the world famous mausoleum. This tile set is very rare due to its colour combination of pink and gold and presence of a'Cross' at the top of the mausoleum. In our last 15 years of experience we have not seen a set like this. It is for sure a custom made piece and is probably from 1920s- 1930s. This is an Islamic tile set. The tiles are in very good condition with just minor fleabites.
