Shabby Architectural GLASS TILE ~ Birds On A Wall ~ Wall Art
This piece is made of a heavy. Ceramic-plaster mix. It's now painted crisp white, heavily distressed for the aged and worn, shabby look, and then tiled. I used glass tiles on the"wall" and pebbles at the bottom. The nest is made of straw and the eggs of paper. The tiles have been grouted and then sealed for protection. Although it looks like it may have been a fountain of some kind. I don't believe it was as there are no holes in it for the water to run through. it measures 9 3/4" side to side. 3 3/8" front to back at the base and 14 3/4" high including the birds. There's a metal hook at the top for easy hanging or it can sit on a table top. Weight before packing is 8 lbs. Your purchase will ship FedEx Ground with insurance included and no signature required. eBay uses the UPS calculator which usually ... moreshows a higher rate than FedEx. So please wait for my personal invoice before making payment. If you would like a FedEx estimate. Please email me with your zip code and the item you are interested in. antique architectural tile MASONIC EMBLEM MASONS FREEMASONS
This is a nice example of an antique architectural tile featuring Masonic images. There is the large"G" surrounded by the compass and the square. These are surrounded by vines. On the back are what I am assuming are catalog numbers. It is done in a dark sparkly brown glaze. It is 3 3/4" wide by 2 1/2" tall by 5/8" thick. It is in good condition. There are some chips along the edge. This and other tiles I have for sale were excavated from a site that was the refuse area for a tile store or tile setter in the early 1900s. This site was in the northwestern Chicago suburbs. These tile could have been made by one of the famous Chicago area architectural tile makers, such as True Brunkhorst or TECO.

Architectural Maw Tile Company Benthall Works Red Copper Lustre Morris De Morgan
GORGEOUS! Maw Tile Company. Red& Copper Lustre. 1870's. This tile along with similar others are being sold on seperate auction. You are bidding on ONE tile. They are from an old home in the heart of Chicago that I purchased over 25+ years ago. They are exactly as I purchased them. always plans to use them! carried them with me to four different houses! All were found in basement cellar. Once installed in fireplace surround I am sure. The tiles found were not a complete surround. There are different leaf& Floral leaf design motifs. In the style of William De Morgan. Very beautiful and bold. These tiles are AMAZING! The pictures are so difficult to take as the copper lustre and reflecting glaze mirrors reflections. Tile measures 6" x 6" and is 3/8" thick. There are surface scratches and crazing. Pictures are part ... moreof the description. The pictures do not show how beaufiful this deep red. Coppery luster glaze really is! Each do have discoloration below the top surface glaze, most likely from when mounted on fireplace. I show one picture that includes all the tiles I purchased. I displayed this photo so you can see the different floral and leaf motif side by side. Also you can see in the pictures the differences in colortones as well. 1852 to 1969 Maw Tile Company was Founded by George and Arthur Maw. By the late Nineteenth Century, the company had become one of the world's largest decorative tile manufacturers. There is so much steep interesting information found on the internet if you like to research history. Maybe there is someone out there that has the other tiles to help complete this as a set! Contact me with any questions, we can always combine shipping. Powered by The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.

Aesthetic Movement Architectural Art Tile Sepia Transferware Day Lilies Ca. 1860
An absolutely beautiful high glazed architectural element art tile circa 1860. The tile is decorated in the Aesthetic Movement taste- a sepia glaze with day lilies on a ground on bicolored diagonal squares. The 6" square tile is in excellent condition with just some minor losses the the corners and edges. Examples of these wonderfull decorative tiles were among the collections of The Brooklyn Museum and also of Barbra Streisand. This one has been in my own collection and has not been previously offered for sale. Fresh to the market. ===============================================================================. THE AESTHETIC MOVEMENT HISTORY. Important elements of the Aesthetic Movement have been identified as Reform and Eastern Art[6] The Government Schools of Design were founded from 1837 onwards in order to improve the design of ... moreBritish goods. Following the Great Exhibition of 1851 efforts were intensified and Oriental objects purchased for the schools teaching collections. Owen Jones. Architect and Orientalist was requested to set out key principles of design and these became not only the basis of the schools teaching but also the propositions which preface The Grammar of Ornament 1856. Which is still regarded as the finest systematic study or practical sourcebook of historic world ornament. Jones identified the need for a new and modern style which would meet the requirements of the modern world. Rather than the continual re-cycling of historic styles, but saw no reason to reject the lessons of the past. Christopher Dresser. A student and later Professor at the school worked with Owen Jones on The Grammar of Ornament. As well as on the 1863 decoration of The Oriental Courts(Chinese. Japanese, and Indian) at the South Kensington Museum. Advanced the search for a new style with his two publications The Art of Decorative Design 1862. And Principles of Design 1873. Production of Aesthetic style furniture was limited to approximately the late 19th century. citation needed] Aesthetic style furniture is ch

I describe all my items as accurately as possible with descriptions and often pictures of any damage. I try to measure within 1/8 of an inch. About Us My salvage business was born of necessity in 1993 when I started restoring an old Victorian home that had seen better days. I needed doors. Staircase parts, fireplace mantles and more, so I contacted the owners of a few local buildings that were scheduled for demolition. I found and purchased all of the things that I needed for my project and lots of extra treasures which I eventually resold. 17 years later this is still my full time job! I salvage whatever I can think can be reused as long as there is room in my warehouse. The warehouse is open for treasure hunting anytime by appointment. Just contact me to schedule a day and time! Thanks for visiting. Steve and Michelle

Architectural & Garden Tile~Medusa Frieze~Gorgon~Colored Terracotta Bricks
I don't know much about this tile/brick. Looks to me like Greek Mythology depicting Medusa in the center and Gorgon sisters on each end. I don't have any other details about this piece like age or originality. I purchased it at an estate sale recently.it measures 19" x 6" x 1-1/4" Some minor wear and tear- be sure and look at pics. No serious damage. Original plaster on the back which makes the tile heavier to ship. I have two identical pieces of this tile(other piece in separate auction) and will be happy to combine for shipping discount. ANTIQUE LUXFER PRISM GLASS ARCHITECTURAL TILE FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT FLOWER W/FRAME
Please scroll down under this description for additional views. 4" square Flower pattern prism glass. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and produced by Luxfer. The tile is molded with angled ribbing on one side and a geometric flower on the other side. These were used architecturally to draw sunlight deep into a space in the years before the wide use of electricity. This antique tile is faintly colored purple, caused by sunlight chemically reacting to magnesium in the glass over a long period. The tile comes with a 5" square gilded wooden frame for display. The frame is fairly contemporary, the tile is antique circa 1900 and is a very nice example with only a couple of very minute flakes on the corners. Our photos will be up by the end of the day.
