This auction includes a lot of two(2) antique 6" square ceramic tiles! These Art Nouveau tiles are unmarked but fall in the Majolica design from Italy. The two tiles are in good condition for their age. Picked up at an estate sale recently. These tiles were gently removed from an early 1900 kitchen/dining room furniture piece. The ceramic is crazed but that does not deter from the overall beauty of these tiles. We offer two additional tiles from the same furniture piece for auction this week. The mustard yellow flower with green leaf pattern blended well with the green leaf pattern.

Antique Art Nouveau era tile made by the Hamilton tile company of Hamilton.Ohio. Marked on the back of the tile. Measures 3" x 6" x 1/2" thick. The heyday of high glaze American Pottery Art Tiles was from the 1870's through the 1910's. Ohio was a big player.With large manufacturers such as The American Encaustic Tile Co. and Hamilton. A combination of the arts and crafts movement,the great depression and eventually WWII, spelled doom for most of the tile makers that sprung up in Victorian days. Here we have a pattern of small Art Nouveau Flowers. Hamilton seemed to produce more Nouveau inspired tiles that most. A couple of flea bites at the ends of the tiles. Beautiful olive green glaze. A great looking tile in excellent condition. Keep in mind that when viewing a high resolution photo and zooming-in. There may be things ... morethat appear as defects,but are just the glaze pouring over the edge or a stray piece of mortar.I try to disclose any and all defects,but please email if in doubt. Beautiful antique Presse d Majolica Art Nouveau tile. Circa early 1 9 00's. Color is pearl, tile is in good cond ition. Very thick glazing with beautiful crazing from age, a few nibs around the edges, back of the tile has been cleaned. And there are the following marks"SACAVEM" It measures 1 5.5 cm x 1 5.5 cm(6" square) I always t ry my best to combine shipping charges.
