I also have some in the same pattern that are more distinct) These tiles have a hole in the center. A screw was inserted through the hole to attach the tiles to the metal stove. They are square. Measuring 2-3/8" square X 9/16" thick. These are old and were removed from the stove so have slight imperfections from their intended use. They will make a beautiful backsplash or trivet. They could also be mounted in a custom frame with knobs attached through the screw holes to make a nice jewelry or hand towel rack. This is a beautiful antique art tile. It was made. Probably around 1900 at the Boch Frères Kéramis factory. The factory was founded by Victor Boch in 1841 in La Louvière in Belgium. This green tile has a central pair of wild roses with beautiful acanth us leaf borders. The green gla ze has pooled into deeper areas of the tile and created gorg eo us depth in color. The tile has an iridescent sheen to it. Showing off cobalt, aqua, and violet! It is one of many we have purchased from a collector of anti que ti les. Early 1900s Art Nouveau or arts and crafts/mission design in shades of green and brown on black. Since these were hand decorated. You can see some variations on the colors- photos were taken outside without flash so pretty true to real life with our monitor at least. Some remaining grout on edges. Expected crazing is quite visible with macro image Condition: Some have part of the unglazed back missing from removal from fireplace surround(we counted 7 of the 12) Some have a speck on the front.
