Antique 1881J+JG Low Art Tile 6" Flower Acanthus Chelsea Ma. Fireplace Majolica
Victorian era 1880's Art Tile made by the J+ JG Low Art Tile Works of Chelsea.Ma. Marked on the back, This tile measures 6" x 6" x 1/2" thick High relief acanthus with a central flower. DEEP caramel glaze.Virtually black in the deep recesses, with contrasting light caramel on the high relief acanthus leaves. A few scattered nicks tosome high points of the flower petals,but the tile shows very well and these go mostly unnoticed. A scratch on the back and chip/porous area near the back corner do not affect the structural integrity of teh tile.Signed,with the less often seen Low back design,usually reserved for tiles that they produced for 3rd parties. Available here is a set of encaustic fireplace tiles made by Trent Company. There are 11 six inch tiles with a floral/vine/three leaf clover pattern. Included in the tiles are 2 corner tiles. One top center tile and one end"L" tiles. shown in center) Beautiful colors of aqua and brown. Color change can be arranged differently if desired. Colors are much more pretty than photos depict. All of the tiles exhibit crazing consistent with age. They have very little to no concrete grout on the back. They are all marked“TRENT” on the back. When placed together correctly. The floral/vine tiles form a continuous flowing pattern. There is one tile with small chips no bigger than 1/4” near the edge. Other than that the tiles are in good condition with no major issues. THIS IS A SET OF ART NOUVEAU/ ARTS& CRAFTS FIREPLACE TILES. FROM THE NORTH ENGLAND ARCHITECTURAL TILE COMPANY. This is a classical Arts& Crafts/ Mission design. Bearing all the usual geometrical symmetry which tends to differentiate them from the more commonly seen Art Nouveau designs. Four pale sky blue petals emerge from a tube-lined epicenter and branch outwards towards a leafy surround in deep forest green. The green areas are particularly interesting when the tiles are placed one atop another as they serve to form a second interlocking pattern. They're effect is stunning- please see the last photograph of the mirror which I made using these tiles to get a better idea of how they look when placed consecutively(mirrors can be made to order also, in any size from 24"x24" upwards) Also a fabulous tile for kitchen backsplashes ... moreand available too are the pale blue plain 6x6 field tile to match the petals, should you wish to use a larger amount for applications other than your fireplace. 4x4 Antique Floral Picture Tile Ceramic Majolica Fireplace Bathroom Kitchen Wall
Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Antique 4"x4" Ceramic Floral Tiles. Wonderful. Antique, ceramic tiles salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each tile has a picture of a yellow rose sprouting from a blue pot. Both have subtle crazing in their pictures I'm not sure if the tile was made by Minton. Meakin, Kensington, or another famous manufacturer, however, they are certainly old and good quality. Each tile still has some cement on the back from where they were removed. You could soak the back portions in water and then carefully chisel the concrete off. Or you could use a Dremel with a grind stone or cutting blade instead. One tile is as close to mint condition as could be considering it's age. And the other just has 3 small chips along it's bottom edge, which will be hard to notice once installed. Hamilton Majolica Encaustic Tile Fireplace Surround
Up for auction is this beautiful set of 19 Hamilton encaustic tiles. These tiles were recently salvaged from a fantastic 1892 mansion in St Louis. MO that has fallen on hard times. The tiles were manufactured and signed by the Hamilton Tile Company in Hamilton, Ohio which was in business from 1883-1901. The color is a rich,chocolate brown with a lighter color on the raised areas which depict song birds and tree branches. 4 of the 19 tiles are undecorated. The condition of these tiles is very good with 2 of the tiles having surface chips and 2 tiles having one back edge which has been chipped off(shown in photos) They all retain a glossy finish with some crazing which is common with type of tile. They measure 6" x 6" and were used to surround a fireplace opening. Individual tiles are not that difficult to find but a full set in this ... morecondition is very hard to come by. This set is a must for a 1880-1910 rehab or get creative and frame them or incorporate into a kitchen or bath backsplash.

Antique Hamilton Ohio Art Nouveau Pottery Fireplace Tile Flowers Majolica 6"
Antique art tile made by the Hamilton tile company of Hamilton Ohio. Not marked but the back is a well-known Hamilton back design. And the art nouveau flowers are done as only Hamilton could. Measures 6" x 6" x 0.5" thick. Flowers in a mauve glaze. Crazing is an inherent property of all art tiles from this era. In this case the fine crazing in the background creates a texture against the flowers. 3 very small chips as seen in the last two photos. Very pretty 100 year old antique tile! lot of 27 turn-of-the-century antique art tiles made by the beaver Falls Art tile company of Beaver Falls. Pennsylvania. The tiles are marked on the backs.They Each measure 1"x 6"x 0.5" thick. Geometric pattern in pale shades of yellow creme and blue-grey. Beaver Falls tiles are scarce and project group rarely comes around. These are in very exceptional condition. Most are nearly perfect. There are three in a separate photo that have chips of note, the other 24 are all shown. The backs have been cleaned of all mortar and grout and these are ready to install. Superb hand painted daisy flower tile c.1890. A slight relief to the face of the tile. The colours are bold and striking and blend beautifully on the foliage and background. Brown. Green, orange and cream. Bright clean and interesting majolica. Some light scratches and grazing to right hand edge. Reverse fairly clean. But some residue remains. Square grid grip pattern. 6" square x 3/8th" thick. I have one more of these. And many others for sale, and am happy to combine postage costs.

These measure 6" by 6" and are a very fine reproduction. Made with raised relief work and then the color is filled in giving it incredible depth and slight variation from tile to tile. I would describe the tile colors as gold(or tan) Navy, avacado green, terra cotta, and cream. Only 9 are shown, but there are definitely 10 tiles that you will receive. These would look great in sets of 5 on either side of your fireplace, spread out on a kitchen backsplash, or else in a set of 9 as a cooktop backsplash mural.
