Bells Glasgow pottery'marble' pattern chamber pot. This beautiful chamber pot measures approx. 22cm in diameter. Approx 14.5cm in height and approx.25cm in length from handle to the lip of the chamber pot. The chamber pot is decorated in a grey marble pattern which seem to have been done before glazing and firing. The chamber pot is heavy and solid. There is a small chip at the base of the chamber pot, this is very old chip as it has aged and discoloured. There are some light patches of crazing over the pot, this can be seen on the underside. The J& M.P. Bells pottery in Glasgow suffered from a major fire and as such may moulds. Templates and other equipment was totally destroyed. Sometime ago researchers dug through the factory remains to try and find what remains they could. This means that may of Bells patterns, styles and pottery was destroyed and lost. After extensive research regarding this'marble' pattern. I have found only one reference towards it. This was in Henry H. Kelly's definitive book'The Glasgow pottery of John and Matthew Perston Bell. This chamber pot was looked at by a Glasgow pottery expert who had never come across this pattern from the Bells factory before. This was backed up by an academic and historian at an Edinburgh museum. They both advised that the only reference to this pattern could be made through Henry H. Kelly's book and that this pattern is a true rarity. Due to my location it could be more than possible that this pattern was a'New' technique or idea that was only made on a few pieces that then went home with employees rather than for sale to the public. This theory was also backed up by expert opinion. This is a beautiful piece of pottery heavy and solid. The grey and white colours are surprisingly modern and would not look out of place in any bathroom I was lucky enough to come

Antique CAMBRIDGE Tile - French Fleur-de-lis Pattern - Sage Green - 3 x 6 in.
Offered for your bidding consideration is a handsome antique tile made by Cambridge. It features 3 French fleur-de-lis reliefs colored in a light sage green. I recently discovered this tile and others while digging for antique bottles under a porch in Stockton. CA. The home was built in 1909 and was slated for demolition. I believe I had dug up a trash pit once used by the original builders just before completion of the home where they had discarded left over materials. Some of the glazing is worn on part of the fleur-de-lis on the far left. See below for more details. Description This Art Nouveau Tile was made in France at the Choisy le Roi Factory. The makers mark" H-ie Boulanger& Cie, Faiencerie de Choisy le Roi, Seine" is on the reverse. The Tile shows the"Grand Palais" in the Champs Elysees, Paris surrounded by a floral Art Nouveau style border. The Grand Palais was built to host the 1900 World Fair, I imagine the Tile was made to commemorate this. It is one of Paris' most recognizable landmarks thanks to its magnificent glass-domed roof. Antique French Art Nouveau Sarreguemines stove TILE oven
Fantastic c.1900 French Art Nouveau stove oven Tile Marked Depose 118 T on the back incised in the clay. Heavy original tile. Measures 9" square and 2.25" deep. This was mostly likely made at the Sarreguemines company. I found an image of a complete stove with similar tiles( not the same pattern) but had what seems to be the same type and placement of the tiles and it was Sarreguemines. I have many of the other tiles that go on this stove if you have interest in more than one. They are different sizes and shapes and condition. This tile has a few fleabites on the edges, but the pattern and glazes are in amazingly beautiful and good shape. Cabbage roses and pansies or violets is the floral pattern. Myers, spared no expense and had the finest tiles available at the time imported to America to construct the Grand Rapids City Hall in 1888, along with many others buildings. Polished. Beautiful ceramic tile with scene of sharply dressed lady in striped skirt and red jacket. Blue scarf. Her yacht is in the background. She's taking a look around with her spyglass. There are grape clusters on one side and birds flying around. On the right hand corner, there is the name G. Barbier 1914. This tile is marked on back 06 W. Germany. It's in very good condition. Fantastic antique Art Nouveau era French made tile from J.G. Givet. This is a stylized portrait of American Dancer Isadora Duncan. Tile has tubeline decoration and majolica glazes in turquoise. Grey, Brown, purple, red, cream and blue. Stunning. Has been repaired from a clean break running from top to bottom. Butterfly, Blossoms, Berries, Fancy Fleur-de-lis, and Scrolls on Light Yellow Background. A. Lordereau was an Exhibitor at the 1878 Paris Exposition Universelle(Universal Exposition or Paris World Fair) and Received Honorable Mention. The Glaze has Crazing and the Raised Surface Areas have Fine Scratches with Soiling as Seen around the Pictorial Patterns. Vintage tiles of Madonna with child French plaster 8 tile or wall plaques
8 tiles or small pictures 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 1/8" bought in France from a reclamation yard. Age unknown there is some damage see pictures. They have been painted in a brown wash of colour and each one has a metal hook set in the back. It has some letters on the bottom right hand corner near the edge worn so illegible. Great for an art project. Interesting item.
