Probably late Victorian The t ile is 6 inches by 6 inches Th is is reclaimed and h as small imperfections as a consequence of being a totally authentic pre-used antique/vintage piece. There is a small amount of residual grout on the reverse. There are extremely small chips to the rim. Probably imper cept i ble once refitted. I shall ship with My Hermes. DEEP caramel glaze.Virtually black in the deep recesses, with contrasting light caramel on the high relief acanthus leaves. A few scattered nicks tosome high points of the flower petals,but the tile shows very well and these go mostly unnoticed. A scratch on the back and chip/porous area near the back corner do not affect the structural integrity of teh tile.Signed,with the less often seen Low back design,usually reserved for tiles that they produced for 3rd parties. A wonderful victorian fireplace tile. Earthenware clay hand painted and glazed fireplace tile. 6" square x 1/2" thick. A pair of darling sweet little birds sitting on the branches of a vine. Colours of burnt sienna and ginger. 2 fine lines of burnt sienna border the tile. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN PROVIDENTIAL TILE FIREPLACE SURROUND portrait tiles
The sale is for this gorgeous antique tile surround that was made by the New Jersey Providential Tile company in the late 1800's. The picture is a shortened version of the surround. There are quite a few more of the mottled tiles. It is in good condition and is comprised of the 2 corner portrait tiles and the rest are 6x1.5 inch and 3 x 1.5 inch tiles. Very few or none of the mottled tiles should need to be cut for the surround. There is some residual mortar and the portrait tiles have a few edge abrasions(please see closeup pictures) The most common surround would be 30" high and across. If you need more tiles for your fireplace surround I can flesh out this design with the mottled tiles. I have many antique tiles listed.

Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Antique 4"x4" Ceramic Floral Tiles. Wonderful. Antique, ceramic tiles salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each tile has a picture of a yellow rose sprouting from a blue pot. Both have subtle crazing in their pictures I'm not sure if the tile was made by Minton. Meakin, Kensington, or another famous manufacturer, however, they are certainly old and good quality. Each tile still has some cement on the back from where they were removed. You could soak the back portions in water and then carefully chisel the concrete off. Or you could use a Dremel with a grind stone or cutting blade instead. One tile is as close to mint condition as could be considering it's age. And the other just has 3 small chips along it's bottom edge, which will be hard to notice once installed. Description This is a nice lot that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. There are dozens of different colors and designs. They look great put together. They were originally from the opening of a fireplace mantel and will make a great bathroom or kitchen detail. As shown it measures 38.5 inches tall by 36.75 wide. Most of the mortar is off the backs. Overall. They are in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. They could use a good scrubbing but will clean up nicely. There are some minor edge and corner dings. 2" Antique MINTON HOLLINS& CO Fireplace Relief Tile 1860-1890 Victorian Moulded This is a lovely little tile from Minton. Hollins& Co. Circa 1860s-1890s. It is a brown/taupe relief tile from a fireplace. It features a pretty pinecone-like design. This tile bears an impressed circular insignia on reverse: MINTON, HOLLINS& Co. Inside of the circle is the number 2I2 with EB beneath. There is a P outside the circle on the right bottom corner and a X sign in the lower left corner. In 1845. Herbert Minton took Michael Daintry Hollins into partnership. And the tile-making side of the business became known as Minton Hollins& Co. Herbert Minton's successful experiments in making encaustic tiles during the 1840s( Encaustic tiles are ceramic tiles with a decoration made of different colours of clay inlaid into the surface. 294 Fireplace Antique Vintage Mantel Surround Fire Place Tile C1910 Alhambra KY Aqua White Muted Yellow Alhambra Tile Co KY Used A phenomenal set of 294 Fireplace Antique Vintage Mantel Surround Fire Place Tiles and 50 half sizes and or broken pieces! These have been salvaged from a fireplace surround in a home in Holmes County Ohio. On the back they are marked with a Curved Sword Piercing the Moon and One Star. We have tried to research this maker’s mark and are presuming this was produced on the Ohio River from the Alhambra Tile Company in Newport KY. We have contacted the Historical Society in Newport KY and they also believe that these were produced from the Alhambra Tile Company. Still. We all could be incorrect but below we have inserted the history for the Alhambra Tile Co. A lot of these fireplace tiles were shipped out of this company ... morethrough the canals during this era. Many fireplace tiles located in Holmes County and the surrounding areas have this style. Shape and color of small fireplace mantel surround tiles. These fireplace tiles are in as removed condition and being sold as is. We have not cleaned them. They need a good cleaning to really show their true colors. I have cleaned one tile to show you the beauty of these old colors of aqua and cream plus some muted yellow tones. Some have old chips. New chips, very nice conditions. staining and half tiles. Some tiles are nice and clean on the back. Others have residue. They will all leave a chalk trail where ever they go! Also. All have that wonderful crazing and the smoke residue still resides on many of these tiles! Please note all photos and email with all questions.
