Also the"geometric key" is always the same diagonal directions mixed with vertical and horizontal. ITEM DESCRIPTION STYLE: Vernacular aesthetic style. Of tin oxide and lead oxide. Sand. Sea salt forming a solution. With this solution the tiles were bath. SUPERB Antique Victorian Minton Block Printed Tile Gothic Revival Pugin 1890 WOW
You are bidding on an INCREDIBLE Original Antique Block Printed Gothic Tile. Made by Minton and dating from the late 19th Century! This wonderfully decorative tile measures approximately 6" x 6" and features a stunning block printed Gothic design much in the manner of Augstus Pugin! Marked on the verso with the Minton stamp. It is in good antique condition with minimal age wear- there are a few minute pips to the glaze at the edges and maybe the odd corner rough patch, but this does not detract at all and is only mentioned for ebay accuracy(see photos) it really is a STUNNER! An absolute must have for any collector and those with a lovely house in which to display it! HAPPY BIDDING!

Stunning LARGE PATE SUR PATE tile STAG AND ROE by MINTON HOLLINS 1890's
Very pretty PATE SUR PATE STYLE 8" tile. Depicting STANDING STAG AND LYING ROE all on a heavenly vivid turquoise blue ground. Designed, and manufactured by MINTON HOLLINS. The thickly applied white glaze, which would have been painted on in thin layers brings detailing to the two DEER(their expressions are perfect! as well as the GRASSES and ROCKS. The differing thicknesses of glaze make for a tactile and beautifully executed subject. I cannot sing its praises highly enough. I have only seen this particular design once before in the SHEILA HUGHES COLLECTION sold at auction some years ago now. The reverse is embossed with the company name of MINTON HOLLINS. Condition is good. The scan does not do it justice and I will take a photograph of it over the next couple of days. There are a few surface marks and some very tiny specs of wear to ... morehigh points but barely visible and good for something so delicate and of this age. No chips. Cracks or major scratches. Crazing commensurate with age. Glorious shiney bright surface glaze. Quite simply a lovely tile that would look wonderful in any collection of tiles especially for collectors of ANIMAL DESIGNS and unusual GLAZE TECHNIQUES or simply framed on its own as a DECORATIVE ARTS object. Buyer should be very happy. LOW START NO RESERVE Should you require further info and or pics please do ask and we will do our best to assist. I nearly always scan the tiles. Which although showing the details can frequently deny them their true beauty when the light catches them, so if you would like a photograph as already muted, you need only ask. At present the scanner is playing up and as a result our scans give the appearance of white horizontal lines on the tiles. These lines are not present on the tiles but on the scanner glass which is being reflected onto the high glaze of the tiles. Apologies for taking so long to replace this terrible scanner! Just a quick boring note re payment. Please do wait for invoice prior to paying. I am obliged to give a postage cost but need to have

A Pretty FLORAL printed tile by LEA & BOLTON 1890's
A very attractive TRANSFER PRINTED AND HAND COLOURED FLORAL 6" tile. Depicting BLOSSOM and FOLIAGE in a ROCOCO SCROLL BORDER. Manufactured by LEA& BOULTON in 1890's. The red glaze centre of the blossom on this example is well executed and lifts the design, which is often not as bright on previously seen examples. A black and white image of this design can be found on page 78 of COLLECTING VICTORIAN TILES by TA LOCKETT. Condition is very good. Tiny nick to top edge and some minor surface marks. Crazing commensurate with age. Extremely shiney bright surface glaze. Great design that would look wonderful in any collection of tiles especially for collectors of POLYCHROME PRINTED FLORAL DESIGNS or simply framed on its own as a DECORATIVE ARTS object. Buyer should be delighted. LOW START NO RESERVE Should you require further info and ... moreor pics please do ask and we will do our best to assist. I nearly always scan the tiles. MINTON HOLLINS HAND PAINTED TILE c 1890 8 inch
This is an interesting tile. Hand painted by a competent artist, I would think dating from about 1890- 1910. There is no signature that I can see. The subject is unusual, two galloping horses. The condition is not great as the surface is quite scratched but all the defects should be visible in the pictures. I have had it hanging for some time and it displays well. If you need any more pictures or information please email me. I estimate the postage to be £6.55 to the UK. £17.40 to Europe and £26 to the USA. I will be listing another eight inch tile but buyers from outside the UK should be aware that combining postage may not be an option as a parcel of two tiles will exceed 2kg. I will refund if the item fails to meet the description or photos.

Victorian Hamilton Art Tile Flowers Ceramic Majolica Nouveau Ohio Pottery 1890's
Antique Art Nouveau era tile made by the Hamilton tile company of Hamilton.Ohio. Marked on the back of the tile. Measures 3" x 6" x 1/2" thick. The heyday of high glaze American Pottery Art Tiles was from the 1870's through the 1910's. Ohio was a big player. With large manufacturers such as The American Encaustic Tile Co. and Hamilton. A combination of the arts and crafts movement, the great depression and eventually WWII, spelled doom for most of the tile makers that sprung up in Victorian days. Here we have a pattern of small Art Nouveau Flowers. Hamilton seemed to produce more Nouveau inspired tiles that most. A couple of flea bites at the ends of the tiles. Beautiful olive green glaze. A great looking tile in excellent condition. Keep in mind that when viewing a high resolution photo and zooming-in. There may be things ... morethat appear as defects, but are just the glaze pouring over the edge or a stray piece of mortar.I try to disclose any and all defects, but please email if in doubt. I combine shipping charges. But occasionally,to certain parts of the country,it doesnt work. Flat rate boxes are often the way to go and for smaller and some 4-1/4" tiles, such as this one,I use 2 day first class. Great-looking 100-year-old American Art tile! Please view my other auctions for more American antique art tiles. Thanks!

HUGE 18"x 9" Antique Fireplace Tile Trent Aetco Rams Head Neo Classical 1890 WOW
Fantastic Victorian era art tile more than likely made by the Trent tile company of Trenton New Jersey or the American encaustic tile company of Zanesville Ohio. Many of the tile makers of the time produced tiles that were no more than 6" x 6" in size.Aetco. In particular, was known to produce large plaques such as this. A truly marvelous piece of turn of the century pottery. A neo-classical tour de force with rams heads. Swags, ribbons and a central, ornate urn/planter. Red wine glaze that pools deeper around the devices, highlighting them. 17-3/4" x 8-7/8" x just under an inch thick. Some chips on the right side as seen in photos. But overall the tile shows very well as the edge is clean all around. Needs a final cleaning. Outside of exterior terra cotta pieces. The largest and heaviest white dust-pressed tile that I've ... morehandled in almost 20 years of dealing. Please check my other auctions for more great tiles from the 1870s through the 1910s. Thanks!
