Mid Century Modern End Side Table Cabinet Hobey Helen Baker Night Stand RARE!!
This is a very rare Hobey& Helen Baker Original end table/side table/cabinet. It is such a beautiful piece though. It could be used in any room in the house. Hobey and Helen Baker were an aristocratic couple who designed furniture in New York. Hobey was named after his famous uncle who was a war hero and football legend, Hobey Baker; who was idolized by F. Scott Fitzgerald in This Side of Paradise. Their pieces of furniture are rare- with only one piece showing up at auction at Rago's several years back. The small cabinet measures 25.5" tall x 18" wide x 18" deep. It has 1 drawer and storage space beneath. It has some dull spots in the finish and scratches in the finish- not the furniture, just the finish. This is a sturdy and well-made night stand or side table which has 4 removable legs. It has an opening in front instead of a drawer for your items. There is a cut out design in the upper back top. I am not sure what type of wood this is and there are no makers’ marks. This belonged to my friend’s mother and he is not sure of the age. The table measures approximately 23 ½ inches tall at the back arch. It is 22 inches tall at the sides. It approximately 17 inches wide and 11 ½ inches deep. The legs measure approximately 15 ½ inches long. I do not see any cracks or breaks in the wood. But this does need to be refinished. There are scratches and small nicks. HEYWOOD WAKEFIELD ENCORE Nightstand Night Stand Endtable End Table Mid century
This is a vintage Heywood Wakefield bedside table/nighstand/endtable. Part of the Encore line. It says"518" and stamped champagne on the back but it has been refinished to a darker color- a medium golden brown(see last pic for comparison to a heywood piece in original wheat color) The finish is decent on the outside but is a little sloppy underneath in the shelf area(where you can't see) and the inside of the drawer is painted. The top has 5 dark marks(burns? see pic) and what I think is a small water stain. There are a few minor scratches on the right side. The left side is clean. Not perfect. But very usable- nicer condition than many many pieces I have seen. Shelf is adjustable/removable. Solid wood, very heavy.

Up for auction is a very nice vintage mid century modern furniture nightstand end table in a clear to white laquer finish. This table is approximately 22 inches long. 21 inches high, and 14 inches deep. The color in the photographs is fairly accurate but maybe slightly lighter in person. There are a couple small chips off the veneer in a couple locations and a fresh coat of clear coat would make this extra nice, but it's not necessary. I took some low angle photos of the top so you can see the figured wood pattern as well as the condition of the finish. There is some wear on the wood knobs and legs but overall, this piece is in very good condition. Returns within 14 days. It measures 24 1/4 inches tall and 23 inches wide and 17 1/2 inches deep. the bottom shelf is 17 1/4 inches deep and has 8 inches of clearance to place items. The drawer measures about 16 1/2 inches wide and 10 inches deep. The piece is well made and the finish needs some touch up with a stain marker but it is not bad for it's age. This is a gorgeous and rare matched pair set of Night stand end tables by the Hickory Chair Company from their Historical James River Plantation collection. It is made of mahogany wood with inlaid figured walnut wood on the top inset borders. It has classic solid brass bat wing drawer pulls. And features ... moredouble doors on bottom section to hide away book case or other item storage. They are top quality and use very dense and beautifully grained woods as evidenced in their substantial weight with each weighing about 64 pounds each without any packing materials or 128 pounds for the pair of them by themselves. Each elegant end table measures 28 inches tall with a base width of almost 25 inches and a depth of 18 inches. Here's what I stated about this stunning matched pair's condition: Some slight scratches and small scuffs. Nicks, and chips that are all very minor and they are a beautiful matched pair all intact and nothing broken. Slight cloudiness to finish in some areas on top but probable can be buffed out.
