I spend a lot of time in the summer searching out wood burls and this one is from the northern Iron wood tree. The burls grow around the outside of many of these trees and the grain is very tight and figured. Pictures can't capture the beauty of these little gems. With very little shaping. A Goldeneye duck head poped out of this burl with it's distinctive head and bill shape. The bill has a tiger eye or fiddleback grain pattern that shimmers when turned in the light! MORE PHOTOS BELOW You are bidding on a lyre based Austrian Biedermeier side table/work/ sewing table. It measures approx. 31 1/4 inches tall and the top is approx. 16 by 21 inches. The table has a wonderful inlaid top and side skirt with beautifully grained light wood Sycamore and Sycamore burl wood. There is a single pull out draw with a small notch on the underside center for the fingers to grab. The legs have a beautiful lyre shaped sweeping style with some darker wood accents. This is an original Austrian Biedermeier table from around 1830 or so and NOT any type of later reproduction. The inlay and design of this table put it head and shoulders above any other Biedermeier tables you may see offered for sale on eBay. The single draw has compartments making me think this was originally designed as a sewing table but it would make a great ... moreoccasional or lamp table. CONDITION: Fair to good. There are some small old repairs to the top. See photos. There is also a stress crack in the top running along the back from right to left that was probably caused by shrinking of the top at a diferent rate than the sub structure. This could be repaired but is not all that noticeable the way it is. The draw works smoothly and the legs are solid with no movement. Antique 19th Century Louis XV Style Burl Wood End Table/Night stand (002)
LOUIS XV style wood table Offers are considered. I have two of these tables for sale.Please contact me if you would like to purchase them as a pair. Estimated to be made in the 19th Century Burl curved wood.I'm not sure of the wood type but looks to be Rosewood. Has two working drawers. Top 10 1/2" x 10" Bottom 10 1/2" x 10 1/2" Each drawer has 2 brass handles. Bottom of front legs have brass hardware on feet Dimensions: Depth-13 1/2" from wall to front drawer) Width in the front 16" Width in the back 20" Height-27" Condition: This is an antique that has flaws and some scratches. Minor blemishes.Small dings and scratches can be seen throughout the table. On the inside of the drawers and bottom of the outside of the drawers there is a thin layer of wood.The layer has age related damage.It is either ... moremissing.Chipped or peeled off.Please see picture#8 for example. Can be repaired and does not effect the movement of the drawer or the beauty of the table. There is a natural crack in the burl wood on the right side. Does not seem to have an effect on the the durability or sturdiness of the table.Gives it unique character. This table has been recently used and moved without any issues. However I am not an expert in wood.If you purchase this piece please keep in mind the crack may or may not need attention or repair in the future. Excellent condition for it's age. Antique Burl Wood Snuff Box with Mother of Pearl and Faux Tortoise Shell C:1800
Beautifully lined in faux tortoise shell. Mother of pearl inlay on top. This snuff box has a blind hinge. It was purchased in England and is from about 1800. Excellent condition with one very minor crack to the wood on the hinge. There are no other imperfections. Very unusual for such an old piece. It measures 3 3/4" by 2 1/8" As you can see from the article which is in one of the pictures. A major magazine shows the value of a box(not nearly as nice as this one) about double what we are asking!

This is a beautiful antique cabinet made by HICKORY Manufacturing CO. The front is a beautiful burl wood. It has ornate brass handles and some brass inlay on the top corners. It measures 3' high, 30" wide and 22" depth. It does not need to be used for a TV and is a beautiful cabinet, storage space,dresser or ornamental piece of furniture. Antique Rococo/ Louis XV Walnut Burl Wood 2 over 2 Four Chest of Drawers Magnificent piece made by The Royal Company by Robert Irwin Co. The company was known for its"royalty designs" and finest craftsmanship using fancy woods and unique veneers to showcase stunning designs. This piece is part of a whole bedroom set but being offered also as an individual piece. Made of walnut burl wood which was the most decorative veneer used in the period and much sought after and considered a"prized possession" It also features a masterful intricate marquetry design. Additionally it shows carved details. Overall largest measurements are approximately 56" wide x 22" deep x 37" high The style is French Rococo in the fashion of the 18th century French royal court and Louis XV and it dates between 1915 and 1925. The small ... moredrawer on the right is compartmentalized and features a hiding compartment. Please note that one of the corners shows a repair(last picture) and there is a very tiny area where a veneer piece smaller than 1/8" is missing(first full drawer bottom right seen as"white" spot) In a scale of 1 to 10 and considering its age I would say it is a 9. This beautiful antique burl wood full seat and back needlepoint seat was found at an antique auction~ This chair has been handed down from generation to generation and probably dates from the early 20th Century to late 19th Century. Burl wood has a feudal dark stain that could use reconditioning- some loose dowels but very minor. And nothing major that could not be glued a little. The curved frame on back needs minor repair(see photos) and S stitched ribbon on edges is tattered and torn in some areas. Underside of chair has writing indicating that this chair was restored in 1957. This is a Fabulous Signed 1800s J J Elliott Burl Wood Bracket Mantle Clock it is simply stunning in beauty! The clock has Samuel Kirk& Son. Inc. Baltimore M. Made in England on the dial face so I'm assuming it was made for the famous Baltimore MD. Silversmith Samuel Kirks company that started in 1815. This clock has an 8 day movement signed that chimes on the 1& the 1/2 hour and it works great! The clock is old is shows signs of wear and some fading but over all it is still in fantastic condition. J J Elliott is a well known English clock maker that is known for making high quality movements. I do not know the age but by the looks of the case and movement I guess around 1880s. The wood has crazing or shrinkage lines but it truly just adds to it's wonderful look. It has the original pendulum I do also have the original key ... morebut it is not in the photos the door key is also the original door key. This fabulous clock stands 14 1/4" tall it is 11 1/2" wide across the foot it's 8" deep also measured across the foot and it weighs 12.10 pounds. Thank you for your interest! A beautiful. Rare Imperial Russian fantasy burl wood cigarette case. These Russian burl wood cigarette cases have been touted as being designed by Peter Carl Faberge. It has been said that he would give them as gifts to important clients. The craftsmanship is extraordinary, and it has been created with what is refered to as a seamless or blind hinge. The front edge of the lid has been constructed with a slightly bowed lip in the center which is used to open the case. The top of this hutch is curved and has a beveled edge and pressed wood design on the inside top edge. The front corners have been cut on angel and tiger striped veneer applied for added detail. There are 2 bevel cut leaded glass doors on top. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or breaks. The base has 2 large drawers that are dove tail design and 2 large doors that ... moreopen up to ample storage. All the doors and drawers have matching original looking ornate metal pulls. This is a magnificent piece of furniture. There is a strip of burled wood down the center of the upper and lower pieces and the front of the lower doors have burled wood on them as well as a nicely designed inlaid tiger wood strip. This piece has great patina. The veneer has bubbled and chipped in a couple of spots but its hardly noticeable. The over all condition of this piece is excellent for its age. It is a very old antique and will not be perfect. I do not know the exact date it was made or who the maker is. The base measures 39 inches tall, 53 inches side to side and 23 inches front to back. It weighs 75 pounds. The top measures 34 ½ inches tall, 49 1/8 inches side to side and 17 1/8 inches front to back. It weighs 97 pounds. Unique Burl Wood Box taken from the magnificent Red Wood Trees of the California National Red Wood Forests. Burl are growths from the trunk or roots of a tree. This is a natural growth removed from the red wood tree and modeled into a most unusual box. No 2 boxes are the same. It appears to be one solid piece of wood. However as you will note from the pictures, the top of this specific burl was ever so carefully severed from the bottom following the natural shape of the original piece of burl. It is created so the top locks into place with the bottom. It is the perfect container for your special treasures or secret items you want to protect. The vase is approximately 6" tall and 5-1/4" in diameter at its widest point. The base has three pads to protect surfaces. The turned wood vase is in extremely good condition. Baker Walnut& Burl Wood Canterbury Magazine/ Music Stand This is an unmarked BAKER Furniture Company faux bamboo Canterbury magazine/ music stand. It dates to the 1960s and has a mellow golden color. It measures approximately 20" tall. 18" long and 13" wide. The burled wood top and bamboo detailing make for a fabulous look that would be at home amid period antiques and mid-century Hollywood Regency furnishings. The magazine stand is in great vintage condition with surface rubs and marks; the burled top has finish wear(there is no pattern to it and it is not warped) because of the whorls and swirls of the burl. It doesn't appear to detract from the rich patina and wooden design details. But, it is worth noting. These are very hard to come by.
