Vintage, midcentury modern walnut low two-drawer nightstand or end table(commode" per its markings) It looks like it's likely ca. 1950s-60s, but I can't be certain. It's hardwood with walnut veneer; the legs are oak. Made by Dixie Furniture. Solid and sturdy. Dovetailed drawers. The photos were taken in relatively bright warm/daylight lighting- the grain is gorgeous. And warms and pops in the light. In less direct/cooler lighting, it'll appear less amber, less red. It's been refinished(chemically stripped. Stained with an oil-based stain and finished with a satin-finish(low-gloss) oil-based polyurethane. Condition: ... moreOverall. For it's age, it's in nice vintage condition with minor age-appropriate imperfections. By way of flaws: 1) On the top surface. Near the left edge, centerish, there's a small cluster of scratches(within a 1" square area) I didn't attempt to repair or remedy this flaw- I don't really think it's detractive(photo) 2) minor, superificial scratches and edge wear; 3) the smallest veneer chip along the bottom of one drawer, near center; and(4) this isn't necessarily a flaw, but a prior owner lined the bottom of the drawers with an atomic starburst paper(it's adhered) it's imperfect but charming and seems appropriate to the piece(I'm sure it could be removed with modest effort) Overall. What a gorgeous matching set of nightstands/ end tables from legendary manufacturer of fine furniture. Drexel Heritage. Classic campaign style, in very good vintage condition, made of fine solid hardwoods and premium grade brass ornamentation and hardware. Crafted by hand at the Drexel factory in Hickory, North Carolina, USA, home of the finest furniture manufacturers in the world for well over a hundred years. Both pieces feature a single full-length, dovetail-construction drawer on top, with the Drexel babe and logo branded into the hardwood sides, and two cabinet style campaign doors on the bottom, accessible either alone or in unison and revealing a large primary storage area inside, completely finished. Both pieces also feature three recessed, flush-mounted solid brass drawer pulls/ handles, that automatically self-recess into the furniture. ... moreThis was an integral design to true antique campaign furniture, as it needed to be transported with the movements of the military campaign, loaded into heavy horse-drawn carts, and external hardware would snag and become damaged. Drexel has loyally reproduced the true design of this period furniture, and has done so masterfully and with a master's attention to detail. Both pieces are in very good pre-owned condition. Generally the finish is still lustrous and vibrant. With little or no fading. They are not without imperfections; On the top view photograph of one of the tables, you can see in the upper far left corner a very small scratch; there are a few even smaller places where imperfections or the slightest amount of wear is visible under close inspection. Any wear they do show is far less than age-appropriate, and I rate them a solid 8.5 or 9.0 out of 10. EACH DRAWER HAS A SILVER/BRUSHED CHROME FINISH DRAWER PULL. THE ITEMS MEASURE 22" X 16" X 25.25" TALL. Vintage Mid-Century Modern Nightstand Table - 2 Drawer - Harmony House ??
Offered is a nice Vintage Mid-Century 2 drawer nightstand table which also would be a wonderful side or end table for any mid-century or Danish modern style décor. The piece is all wood and most likely various types but I am uncertain of the types. A lot of walnut was used in this era of furniture. This piece has had a refinish done and is in darker wood tone colors. It measures 24.5" tall, 22" wide and 17" in depth. The top drawer is 5"deep and the bottom one is 6.5" deep. Overall its in very nice condition. There are no markings that I can find but found others on Ebay that were listed as Harmony House so although I cant be positive its a good possibility. A very attractive piece, with dovetailed wood drawers, and solid teak legs that screw off for easy and safe transport or storage. It is stamped by the manufacturer on the back.
