Hobey and Helen Baker were an aristocratic couple who designed furniture in New York. Hobey was named after his famous uncle who was a war hero and football legend, Hobey Baker; who was idolized by F. Scott Fitzgerald in This Side of Paradise. This is a mid century modern era nightstand/side table made in 1963 by Sterling Furniture Company. The manufacturers of fine furniture. I acquired it from an estate and it has been well taken care of. It is very sturdy, and in excellent cosmetic condition for being 50 years old. I have cleaned this nightstand and the surface appears to have no signs of wear. This stand is 20" wide, 14" deep and stands 24 1/2" high. It has the original legs and the original drawer pull and the entire stand is original.
