Old Vintage Large Caliber Ship cannon Trench Art Lamp Stands 38 40 mm MK 1945
Here are two lamp stands that I made aboard the U.S.S. TARAWA aircraft carrier in 1957. The shell cases I used were dated 1945. The bottoms are 5in MK 5 US D.E.D. 38 cal. The top shell case is around a foot tall and It looks to be maybe 40mm(I could be wrong as I cannot read the small stamping) There are other stampings(anchors.Numbers,letters,etc. I made these to finish off as lamps and never completed. I just came across them in a box of my Navy items and maybe somebody can make use of them. I did not clean them and they do show some patina but are in good condition with no dents. You may need to do some fitting on the tops as the screw holes are different sizes, the bottoms do screw tight to the upper stands. Thanks for viewing my items.

This is a handsome old brass whale oil lamp from a bygone era. It is approximately 6” in height. The drip pan is 3-1/4” in diameter and the oil font is 2-1/4” in diameter. The lamp has no maker’s mark which is to be expected as most antique functional metal items were not marked. We believe that it was produced in England or America. The spurred handle can be seen on brass articles in both the 18th and 19th centuries. However. The shape of the oil font indicates to us an approximate date of 1825. The lamp is cast brass with the various parts being cast separately. Under magnification you can still discern the hand file finishing marks left over from when the parts were ... morecleaned up following casting. The lamp has a spurred handle finger grip. This finger grip handle makes it easy to grip. Secure to carry, and very portable. The lamp is in excellent overall condition for its age. Besides being 185 plus years old. The seller told me it came from a house"on the lake" Spirit Lake/Okoboji) And the original owner had a barber shop and sold hair wax(maybe a promotional piece next to the hair wax? The lamp stands approx. 15 3/4" tall with out the round bulb. With the bulb is approx. 21" The base is approx. 5" in diameter. And is covered with green felt. There is paint missing in different spots. I tried to take photo's of every angle. I believe the base of the lamp is metal which has been painted. The lamp does work. Joseph and Jesus. These are very solid and in very good condition with the exception of some light wear and patina to the brass finish and a little candle wax too. Someone has started to alter these to be made into large lamps but of course can still be used as candle stands. Each measure 39" tall x 10.5" across at the bottom of the base. ANY FRIDAY OR WEEKENDS WILL HAVE A 10.00 PICK UP CHARGE DO TO LEAVING US HOUSE BOUND EVERY WEEKEND. This is for a vintage set of 2 Hekman sturdy End Tables or Night Stands. They are 25 3/4ths by 25 3/4ths' square by 21' tall. Brown wood w kind of a parque square blocks on top. Each has a single drawer that looks like two with dove tailed edges. Top has a hollowed inset which gives it a framed edge look. This is sold wood drawers etc but unfortunately had some water rings from a cup. The worst along the back of one and another lighter one or two that the orange oil seem to disappear but as you know sometimes comes back when oil drys but ... morelooks good when oiled. A doily or a lamp might be able to be placed on the dark ring for those that don't want to refinish and those that do and are very particular there are some slight bumps and dents here and there, I noticed a leg had some thin scratches on it which some might have scratched the varnish but nothing too difficult to have refinished if wanted or too noticeable(other than the dark ring) Also there are treatments to help get out rings now that don't have to refinish you could look into. The brass pulls are patina-ed a bit. We are not smokers un known if others before us were but I don't smell any scents other than orange oil.
