ANTIQUE 1880's ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE STAIR NEWEL POST Offered here is a salvaged antique newel post. Left over from a staircase I installed close to forty years ago(see bottom images) My guess would be that the wood is Chestnut. There are nicks and scratches, as well as some nail holes where handrail attached. The post measures 25-1/2" in height x 5-1/2" x 6-7/8" at square side widths. The turned parts are 5" dia. at the top and the smallest diameter is 3-3/16" Three faces have identical designs. Fourth is where railing attached; one small square broken nail remains. The piece will clean up nicely. But will require a little repair where the top is chipped. SHIPPING WEIGHT: 10 lbs. This piece was not needed to complete the work seen here. THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE pair of COLUMNs. Hi for sale I have ONE Pair of Antique architectural salvaged wood carved porch Columns or pilllars. I believe the wood is pine. They are painted white and have a chippy patina. 2 soild ~4 sided pieces. Photos 1- 7 show the full piece columns. 8-12 show the 1/2 columns. The second photo shows how I have used a pair in my home. I added hang hood and heavy wire to the back of the columns. I then added a heavy photo hook to my wall, then I hung the columns to the wall. They each have some damage to the bottoms. Incredible Vtg ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGE CARVED WOOD COLUMN POST BASE ELEMENT
WONDERFUL ESTATE FIND. Up for auction. Is this fabulous wood column post. The column is solid wood, nicely carved with ridged design and a button like flower top. Top of the column has a wood dowel inserted along with predrilled holes and the bottom has predrilled holes as well. Measures overall 24 1/2"in. tall and up to 4 3/4"in. wide. EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. Has wear, a few splits in the wood with some being previously repaired, a few chips, tiny paint marks, but a marvelous vintage find. Not marked. This is a pair of oak architectural columns that were salvaged from a residence in Calumet. MI c1900. They are in excellent condition and are 5 ½”w at the bottom and taper up to 5”w at the top x 62 ½” h. They weigh 22 lbs. each and are hollow. They cleaned up beautifully and are ready to install. There are a few minor nicks and splits that are not notable, but I have to mention. I carefully cleaned and polished these– the rest is up to you! We are pleased to offer this VINTAGE pair of salvaged. Architectural columns. The pair were used indoors in a formal dining room and we salvaged during the home's remodel. The columns are about 30 to 40 years old. They are heavy, solid(not hollow) and feature a BEAUTIFUL MAHOGANY finish. They are Art Deco in style and are 8 sided(octagon shaped) They have a fabulous, Art Deco styled"Skyscraper" design which is featured on both the top and bottom caps. The caps are fixed and are not removable. The octagon pattern is raised at the point of attachment between the two sections(picture 3) The columns are in very good condition with no rot or broken/missing pieces. They do have some surface scuffs and scratches but these are fairly minor and can be sanded and refinished. The attachment screws are in place for you as well. This one was made for double railings at 90 degrees but could be easily converted to one rail by simply making or having someone make an extra round decorative piece to cover the one space. Your probably going to paint it anyway so it will never be seen. The post is 57-3/4“ in total length, 4-3/4” square at the base. 21-3/4” long from the bottom up until it first starts to taper in. Antique Carved Oak Newel Post Architectural Salvage Plant Stand This is a great antique oak stairway piece out an old mansion. We think it was salvaged in the early 70’s and has been stored in a garage. It has fantastic carving and details. The Newel Post that is 26 ½ inches tall. Base is 9 ½ inches across and the top is 6 ½ inches across on the largest side. There are a couple of chipped places. One is at the very top and is about 2 ½ inches and the other is 1 ½ inches on a top rung. Please see pictures) This piece has beautiful grain to the wood and has been left in original condition no to very little varnish remains. It would really make a nice fern/ plant stand. The top of the post has carved flowers on three sides with nice Victorian details below. The shaft has Eastlake Spoon Carvings on three sides. There is a flower pot with vines and flowers. There is a cut out for the step at the bottom but is freestanding. The total measurements are 46.25 inches tall by 7.75 inches square at the base and 6 inches square at the shaft. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. It needs a final finish sanding and it needs a finial. Vintage Exterior Iron Railings for refinishing project, architectural salvage
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Vintage exterior iron railings look to be about 75 years old. They are for the landing part of the stairs. They measure 37 inches long and 35 inches high. The measurement between the footing bars is approximately 31 inches. There is an alternating pattern of twisted iron and square iron. In the center is a nice diamond shape. The front curves around with aluminum finials at the ends. There is heavy rust and a separation of the two bars along the top. I removed loose paint peeling by wiping it down with a soft towel(I didn't want to use a wire brush because I didn't want to scratch it) There’s still paint on it which has to be properly stripped. It went slowly through green, black, bronze to a final shiny steel metal. So I can now say with certainty that they are cast steel toppers. I adjusted the opening bid downward. These are from a 1911 southern home that was originally owned by the president of the local cotton mill. I believe they may have been removed around 1960 when the then-new owners clad the wood trim and column tops on the upper level of the brick house with aluminum siding. You are looking at a lot of 10 antique wooden wainscot boards. The boards are roughly 45 inches tall and 3.25 inches wide. These boards were salvaged from the walls of the former Famous department store in Cairo. Illinois. These boards are beautiful and original. There is minimal damage to some of the edges and joints of the tongue and grooves. Overall, this wood is beautiful and very rare in this unpainted condition. Antique chestnut wood newel post 48" tall historic vintage architectural salvage
Beautiful historic/ antique chestnut wood newel post. Post was painted black previously but has been completely hand refinished. Stained and polyurethaned and is in great condition! Exact age is unknown but is at least over 100 years old and still very sturdy! The bottom corner is notched to fit over the corner of a step(see photos) The newel post measures 4 feet tall and approx. 6" wide in the center section. There is a small portion of the circular rosette missing(see last photo) but is not noticeable at all. The side shown without the rosette is the side that the handrail would attach to.

Antique Architectural Salvage Weathered Column Cap - Shabby Chic Decor
If this column cap could talk. I would be willing to bet it has more sordid stories and harrowing tales than Rob Ford. This exquisitely ornate, gorgeously weathered column cap is a magnificent piece of historic salvage. Chipped, peeling paint unearth the gritty texture hidden beneath the bone white exterior. The imperfect details, like cracked corners and a slight lean, give it character, while the flourishing curliques and imposing European charm belie what must have been a wealthy past in a building of grand stature. Shockingly, this isn't as heavy as you might expect(around 20 lbs, easy enough for this admittedly weak-armed shopkeep to lift) which makes it easy to repurpose for plenty of uses. My first thought was that this would be an incredible, one-of-a-kind pedestal for a Christmas tree, either real or fake(though you might need ... moreto slip something underneath one side to make it a bit more stable and cure the lean) However, if you have a bigger table, it would make an incredible centerpiece on its own, and could easily be accented with a candelabra, tealights, or bottlebrush trees. Year round, use it as a plant stand, small accent table, or just as salvage-chic decor. Measures approximately 14.5" wide. 15" tall. Please note: the paint is incredibly delicate and chips very easily. In person pickup is highly recommended. But I will be happy to ship.
