What a beauty! This is a handmade wrought iron windmill. The work detail is just incredible. As you may know throughout history windmill have been employed for various uses: originally they were developed for milling grain for food production. Then to convert the wind’s energy into rotational energy by means of its blades, and even to pump water for land drainage or to extract groundwater with wind-pumps. The history of windmills is fascinating. But finding a perfect miniature(although this piece is pretty large) of a real one to place in your home as a beautiful conversational piece, is incredible. The pictures show the details of the blades. The main door with engines to close it and open it, the second floor with the railing the goes all the way around it, and a door window that looks like a small balcony on the side. A real beauty. It has black paint with light surface rust. It measures 37 inches tall by 32.5 inches wide at the body. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Architectural Hitching Post Wrought Iron Decorative Horse Head Garden
Here is an old antique hitching post. It is wrought iron and heavy as all get out. It measures about 35" high alone. I threw in the metal horses head. But it does not fit and you'd have to attach it some how if you wanted it on there. It is from a lamp(mid century) and has a hole in the top as shown in the last photo. You are buying the hitching post. If you don't want the head then the shipping will be less but the price you bid is the price you bid with or without the head. The base is 8 sided and about 7" wide x 7" high. The hole in the top of the base is about 2 3/4" across. The hitching post is old and has wear for age and a few holes in the iron as shown. 3 balcony style railings here all three measure same 78"long 30" tall 21"deep. I bought these over a year ago had great plans for them. Other interest have came up so you know the rest of the story. These are beautiful pieces I've seen these on balconys. Decks and in general displays. I would say each weigh around 75 lbs-100. I have never weighed them so I don't know for sure but can be picked up by one man. It would be better with two. Toward the end of the war to watch over the apartment as his capacity as Captain in the American army in charge of finding and repatriating art taken by the Germans(he wrote a book“SURVIVAL” on the subject) The ladies were brought to America a few years after the war ended in 1948-49. A large pair of salvaged iron gate posts. Dating from the late 19th century and found in a home in Philadelphia, PA. Each rectangular iron post features an open body with a framework composed of hand-wrought volutes, spike finials crown each corner of the post. They would make for wonderful accent pieces for your garden or fantastic decorative interior pieces. The posts are in very good antique condition with the expected wear, as pictured. As you can see in the pics the paint is chipping off and will need to be restored Each post has 3 smaller vertical twisted rods and 1 larger square rod. Each rod attaches at the bottom to cement or something and each attach to the large spiral post cap at the top(pic 7-11) with small machine screws. Those screws are stripped and all will need to be replaced.
