There are 2 Newel posts, the housed and open stringer(very thick) all the shaped, not square ballusters and all the handrails, even the trim that goes in between the ballusters. These all have white paint over them. But can easily be restored. I have restored many of my own items, and I know how beautiful these stairs will look. They would cost a fortune to find a solid piece of oak this large! I also have tons of door and window trim, and doors too. Solid OAK Newel POSTS and STAIRCASE RAILING with Spindles =
For sale is a nice solid oak Railing and newel posts. The larger newel post is 51" tall and 8" square at the widest. The top to it is not original. A light was mounted there at one time. The electrical lines were still inside when I removed the post. Other than that it is in good shape needing cleaned and maybe refinished. Depending on your look. The railing is in great shape but one spindle does have a split in it. It is not broken but one does have a split. It is 110" long. The top newel post is 37"tall from floor to top. Then it has the extra length that would wrap down the side of the Stairs. It is only 5" square but the ball on top of it is original and can be used to replace the unoriginal one at the bottom. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from adjoining Pittsburgh Victorian home. They are made of oak and are currently painted. The original finials are in tact. They have Eastlake Spoon Carvings below the the finials. The top has carved oak leaf and acorn panels on three sides. There are ornate carved moldings above and below the panels. The shafts are fluted with turned 1/4 round columns at the corners. They are notched for the step. Your bid buys the pair. Each measures 56 inches tall by 7 square at the shaft and 8.5 square at the top. The black is a tad taller. Overall. They are in very good co ndition. These are marvelous old carved posts from Northern Afghanistan. Four of which I want to sell since it turns out there is no appropriate place for them in the home we are building. I have mounted two in the atrium of our home. One is on each side of a pair of antique Greek doors. There is a photo of one of these mounted posts on the right side of the doors. The four posts I have for sale range from 79” to 83” high and from 8” to 13” wide. Each post is carved from a single piece of wood and is very heavy. At least 100 pounds. These pieces are ornate with a few nice details that differentiates them other vintage hitching posts. They measure 4 feet(48 inches) tall. 7 inches wide at widest point, the base is 1.8 feet x 1.65 feet, and the ring is 4 inches around. They weigh approximately 125 pounds each. Stately Pair of Antique Solid Oak Newel Posts, c. 1880 NNP55
Handsome pair of antique newel posts crafted of solid oak and dating from approximately 1880. The square post body is topped with a simple domed newel post cap and features a unique silhouette that tapers in the center. Chamfered edges with reeded and grooved detailing compliment the top and the base. Unlike boxed newel posts that are hollow in the middle. These posts are solid all the way through. The newel has been painted white and is in good antique condition with some chips and wear as shown. The newel posts measure 5-7/8” wide and 61-1/2” tall. Four SQUARE& tapered victorian porch columns or posts. Three of the columns measure 76" high- They measure 13.5" square at top of capital- have nice built-up molded design. Nice champfered edge on columns- giving nice classical look! Description This is a nice pair that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. They are made of chestnut and are currently painted white. They have fluted shafts and decorative moldings. They are not notched for the step. One has its original cap which is cracked and the other is missing the cap and molding just below it. It measures 37.5 without the cap. 6.5 square at the base and 5 inches square at the shaft. Overall they are in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. They could use a good cleaning. One has an uneven base and leans. It will need to be trimmed to be straight. Please look at the pictures carefully. Ref: 71263 Shipping. 2 Primitive Antique Turned Wood Posts Black Finish Furniture or Architectural? I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! What can I say- I just loved the look of this antique dynamic duo. The old black paint is shabby and worn. With the wood showing in all the right places, and the wood is turned into a lovely and interesting shape. Now, I don't know if they were an architectural detail, or if they were part of a piece of furniture, so I have listed them in both. Made of solid wood, you can see they were affixed to whatever on one side of each piece. There's two holes on the top, ... moreand one on the bottom. Both of the very top holes still have parts of the wood pins that used to affix them inside of the holes, as does one of the bottom holes- see my photos. Each one measures 17 1/2" long. One end is 1 3/4" square and they are painted, the other end looks more like a foot, they are unfinished and measure 1 5/8" diameter. The widest part of the pieces is one of the round areas and it is 2 3/4" wide. They are both in excellent solid and sturdy condition structurally with minor nicks, scratches, nibbles and scrapes to the wood. There's a little chipping up by the holes at the finished end where the pin inserts. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they may be oak, from the peeks of wood that I see. They are both barn fresh dirtydustydirty and could use a good cleaning. I have one word for these: prettyprettypretty! Please ask if you have any questions. Antique Porch Posts EARLY 1900s
Selling Antique Porch Posts. 7 complete, 1 in half, 2 smaller ones. Also includes a number of post tops and bottoms. They have dado bottoms for the post tops and bottoms to fit into nicely. They in very good condition with the exception of the paint. Size is about 5 feet in length by about 6" diameter. These were taken from the basement of my home which was built in 1907. I believe they were original to the front porch or back porch of the house. But I haven't yet found any pictures showing me the original state. 1950's Deco Mahogany Posts - Church Stanchions - Antique
