Antique Country French Cherry Wood Panetiere Turned Spindle Cabinet Provincial
This meticulously crafted late 1800s to late 1900s solid cherry panetiere measures 22 ½” tall x 19 ½” wide x 15” deep and features delicately turned spindles about its perimeter and its gently arched lid. It boasts mortise and tenon construction with cleanly refinished surface. The inside of the bottom is of hand riven slats; you will note numerous early tacks and many empty tack holes about the inside. This suggests it was lined with a muslin or similar cloth at one time. Several of the mortis joints have come loose and will need glue. One has signs of an older glue repair. One joint on the front has two brads and is split as per the photos. We are pleased to offer this BEAUTIFUL. Antique bench or chair. This absolutely stunning piece is constructed solid wood and is highlighted with an abundance of turned wood, spool spindles. The bench was part of an antique bedroom ensemble and resembles the old, Jenny Lind style. The bench back looks like an antique twin headboard and the bench may have made from an old headboard. The bedroom suite was French Empire in style so we have classified this bench in that category. The bench has a tall, open spindle back with a large slat and spool at the top. There are no arms, but the spindles hyper-extend the sides and front for an"arm" feature. The legs and all of the spindles are turned. The wood is finished in a black stain. This large bench has a reclaimed wood, slat style seat which is primitive in terms of texture and appearance. ... moreIt is gorgeous as is or it could be upholstered if desired. We are pleased to offer this beautiful pair of OLD. Early 20th century, spindle back chairs. The chairs have influences of both French and English Country. The chairs are solid wood with a rich brown stain(original) and black paint on seats and back head rest area. The chairs have a unique back design. They features turned wood spindles which are off set and a center, curved back rest. The legs and stretchers are also turned wood. The seats are curved(fiddle style) and come to a point in the back. The actual seating area is carved and recessed. The chairs are quite striking and make great dining chairs or lovely accent pieces. They are in good condition with some normal and expected evidence of age and use. There are no broken or repaired spindles or legs. The stain has worn in some areas and there is some crazing/bubbling to the old lacquer ... morefinish in a couple of areas. One of the chairs is a little uneven at the bottom. One of the seats has had a split at the joint(on the seat of the chair) It has been filled(previously) and it is very strong with no issues. None of these are distracting and the chairs are lovely and sturdy. The paint as been distressed to look worn. The chairs measure 37.5" tall to the backs and 17.5" in height to the seat.
