This horse ... morehead is more rare because it was cast from one mold. This process was known as being"Cast in the round" from one piece. Most casting found for sale are made from two molds. One for the left side and the other for the right side of the horses head. Once the molds have been cast they are joined which of course leaves a visible seam which over time can become loose and begin to separate. The horse head is heavy weighing approximately 8 pounds. It is difficult to get an exact weight since part of the old hitching post is still connected but can be removed if you prefer. The head measures 8" from the tip of the nose to the back of the horses mane. 9" tall, 3" wide, and the opening for the post is 2" in diameter. The total length including the pole is 36-1/2" The original tie up ring is still there but due to age it has come apart on one side. This is a truly wonderful and authentic piece that you would be proud to display. Thank you for looking and please email if you need additional information. What a beauty! This is a handmade wrought iron windmill. The work detail is just incredible. As you may know throughout history windmill have been employed for various uses: originally they were developed for milling grain for food production. Then to convert the wind’s energy into rotational energy by means of its blades, and even to pump water for land drainage or to extract groundwater with wind-pumps. The history of windmills is fascinating. But finding a perfect miniature(although this piece is pretty large) of a real one to place in your home as a beautiful conversational piece, is incredible. The pictures show the details of the blades. The main door with engines to close it and open it, the second floor with the railing the goes all the way around it, and a door window that looks like a small balcony on the side. A real beauty. up for sale is this absolutely exquisite Vintage CAST IRON HORSE HEAD Post. Bust. It is large. approximately 17 inches tall and the base is 8 x 5 inches. It came from a Northern Pennsylvania Estate, found in the barn when it was sold off. I wire brushed some of the loose rust off but it has great patina. The detail is quite amazing. It has some damage and has a crack but it is not in anyway loose to split apart. It is very heavy weighing about 35 LBS. That is all I know about the piece. Couldn't find any foundry stamp.

Vintage Cast Iron Jockey Fence Post Hitching Post
This wonderful jockey hitching post is 13" tall and 3 1/2" wide at the bottom. He weighs 13 lb. 11.8 oz. There is a round hole on the bottom that measures 1 7/8" inside diameter and 1 1/16" deep. With a single screw hole on the back. The paint is clearly original but as you can see from the photos there are lots of spots of rust. I got him at an antique shop a long time ago and he has been sitting in a box for many years. There are no markings that I can find. He has a green shirt and cap, white pants with red undertones, black boots, belt, collar, and hair. The area between his legs is faded blue in the front and black in the back, and the stand he is on is black/blue with a little green. His left cheekbone isn't smooth like the right one but I'm pretty sure that was original to the piece and not damage. He is ... moreholding a black rod of some kind and that is the only place I see any kind of a seam except I suspect the arms were soldered onto the body after it was cast but before being painted. This is all just my observation to give you a better idea of what he looks like and to help you analyze the photos better.

Vintage Cast Iron Carriage Horse Head Bust for Fence Post Cap Here is a great piece for your horse lovers out there. Would make a great addition to any collection. Recently picked the piece up at an auction This piece was made originally to set on a fence post as the head piece and it obviously did somewhere before I picked it up. Was rusty. But not too pitted from the exposure to the elements for some decades. Just gave it a good spraying with WD-40 to protect it from further corrosion. Nice detailing on the horse head. The horse is all harnessed up ready to take someone for a carriage ride. The cap the cast horse is attached to acts as a great base for the piece and has nice decorative detailing on it as well. The piece with the way the cap was made for the piece sits nicely on any flat surface. Does not need to be on a post. Just would ... moreneed to protect the surface it is sat on from the roughness of the cast iron. This is a very heavy piece. There is some sort of maker/model number on the back of the bust where it joins the base. Appears to be BO 160907. Only damage I see to it is a small piece of the cast iron hanging down from the yolk simulating a leather strap lost some of its' end. Chip to the front of the horse's right ear, and some minor chipping of the corners of the base. The cast iron horse head and base stands 17.75" tall. 5.25" across at the base, and 5.5" wide. The piece is about 6" wide when you take in the horse's snout extending further than the base. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. These pieces are ornate with a few nice details that differentiates them other vintage hitching posts. They measure 4 feet(48 inches) tall. 7 inches wide at widest point, the base is 1.8 feet x 1.65 feet, and the ring is 4 inches around. They weigh approximately 125 pounds each. You are viewing a very rare and beautiful architectural item from the" Cast Iron Building" age of the 1800's. A cast iron column capital that was used by architects to decorate building columns which may have been entirely cast iron or heavy wood timbers. This is part of a four piece set. One for each of the four sides of a square column. The our sides were attached with bolts through the bolt holes. It looks very heavy, and is at 20 pounds. This piece has a great patina with traces of old paint and some expected normal rusting. The dimensions are: 13" high x 15" wide x 1" thick at the thickest point. It makes a great architectural decorative item which can be displayed on a wall, shelf, outdoors or just about anywhere. They measure 37 inches long and 35 inches high. The measurement between the footing bars is approximately 31 inches. There is an alternating pattern of twisted iron and square iron. In the center is a nice diamond shape. The front curves around with aluminum finials at the ends. There is heavy rust and a separation of the two bars along the top. I removed loose paint peeling by wiping it down with a soft towel(I didn't want to use a wire brush because I didn't want to scratch it) There’s still paint on it which has to be properly stripped. Sanded and repainted. These are heavy railings weighing 40 pounds each and they are still very solid.
