Chippy paint might be an understatement. But this neat old post has a great deal of charm about it. Standing 46“ tall, the square part of the post is 5 ½“ on each side. This auction is for one(1) antique vintage victorian wooden architectural porch spindle post/column. It was removed from our 1896 Victorian home as part of a remodeling project. I have no idea in what year this particular post was put on the porch. Meaning no way for me to know whether it was an original or a replacement somewhere down the line. I only know the year the house was built, and that the post was here when we bought it. It is about 94.5 inches tall, and the squared-off portions above and below the spindle section are 3.25" x 3.25" Measuring from the top to the point where the spindle begins is about 14.5" in length(height) and the spindle part is 39.5" long before the squared-off part starts again. You are viewing a very rare and beautiful architectural item from the" Cast Iron Building" age of the 1800's. A cast iron column capital that was used by architects to decorate building columns which may have been entirely cast iron or heavy wood timbers. This is part of a four piece set. One for each of the four sides of a square column. The our sides were attached with bolts through the bolt holes. It looks very heavy, and is at 20 pounds. This piece has a great patina with traces of old paint and some expected normal rusting. The dimensions are: 13" high x 15" wide x 1" thick at the thickest point. Vintage Exterior Iron Railings for refinishing project, architectural salvage
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Vintage exterior iron railings look to be about 75 years old. They are for the landing part of the stairs. They measure 37 inches long and 35 inches high. The measurement between the footing bars is approximately 31 inches. There is an alternating pattern of twisted iron and square iron. In the center is a nice diamond shape. The front curves around with aluminum finials at the ends. There is heavy rust and a separation of the two bars along the top. I removed loose paint peeling by wiping it down with a soft towel(I didn't want to use a wire brush because I didn't want to scratch it) There’s still paint on it which has to be properly stripped. Sanded and repainted. These are heavy railings weighing 40 pounds each and they are still very solid. Beautiful historic/ antique chestnut wood newel post. Post was painted black previously but has been completely hand refinished. Stained and polyurethaned and is in great condition! Exact age is unknown but is at least over 100 years old and still very sturdy! The bottom corner is notched to fit over the corner of a step(see photos) The newel post measures 4 feet tall and approx. 6" wide in the center section. There is a small portion of the circular rosette missing(see last photo) but is not noticeable at all. The side shown without the rosette is the side that the handrail would attach to.

VERY NICE PAIR OF SMALL( 19 1/2" HT. MAHOGANY COLUMNS WITH HAND CARVED CAPITALS: The overall condition of this handsome pair of matched columns is very good. There are some small chips on each capital. But with the dark mahogany finish. The chips do not stand out. The tapered shaft has mahogany veneer. The varnish on the veneer has aged to a fine stippled surface. The stippling is very uniform and of a consistent color and texture on both columns. One column does have some abrasions on the shaft and a small chip and surface crack at the bottom. Most of this damage is on one side, allowing it to be placed out of sight on the back when displayed. The hand carved capitals are in a Corinthian style. Each capital has a large raised oval panel at the center of each face. Acanthus leaf carving is draped down from each volute. This vintage arts& crafts style wood newel post has a tapered column and beautiful square cap. This piece(and I do have 2 others) are from an 1800's home in East Aurora. NY. They had been tucked away in the attic since updating was done on the home many years ago. Measure: 33 1/2" height; Base is 6 3/8" square; Tapered column is 4 3/4" at the bottom and 4" at the top; Cap is 6 3/8" square. A lot of character in this unique piece of history! Painted post is crazed and chipped. Nail holes where it was installed and damage to the wood base- see the photos. Top cap stain is crazed and worn from years of use. Offered is a very nice antique vintage wood pillar or column. It is footed and measures about 29 3/4" tall. The round surface measures about 10" in diameter. The base measures about 18" from foot to foot. I believe the wood it is made out of is oak. It is in great shape. But it has scratches and dings typical from a piece of this age. The surface of the top has a lot of wear. This pillar would make a great plant stand or a stand for statuary. A very nice addition to your collection.

I would date them to the late 1800's, early 1900's. These pieces are really large measuring 26" Tall and are solid. I'm not certain as to the type of wood. I have not seen anything like them in quite sometime and they are becoming more difficult to find. They would make a great brackets for a wall shelf or decorative conversation pieces.
