Description This is a newel post that was salvaged from a Pittsburg Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently sporting a light blue paint. The cap has carvings on all 4 sides with egg and dart molding below. The top has carved flowers an 3 sides. The shaft has Eastlake spoon carvings on all 4 sides. It is notched for the first 2 steps. It measures 54 inches tall by 7.5 inches square at the base and 6 square at the shaft. Overall it is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Nicely carved architectural find from a local estate. This was probably a newell post cap or top.I'm sure there are other uses where it could be displayed. This solid carved piece of oak meaures 8"x8"x5 1/2"H. Shaped in a dome style it is incised carved in a tree pattern. The piece is structurally sound and tight.there are no cracks. Losses or repairs.and the oak has it's original finish.golden color with a nice warm patina which only comes with age. This cap dates 1880-1915,and shows normal wear and scratches.but is overall in very good condition.One of the 4 panels does have a few shallow dents as if hit with a hammer towards the bottom"limbs" of the carved tree pattern. Highly Carved Antique Victorian Oak Newel Post Cap in Original Condition
Here's a very ornately carved cap to an oak newel post which must have come from some impressive Victorian building. This would look stunning either built into a stairway of a Victorian home or as an interesting accent piece. There are a few chips. Bumps and nail holes and it is also quite dirty. But I'll leave any cleaning to the new owner. Although beautiful as is. The original quartersawn oak finish would certainly benefit from a little oil and wax to bring out the grain. It measures 21" tall by a maximum width of about 9 1/2" and weighs in at a hefty 17 pounds of solid oak. Shipping is $16 within the US only and pick up in person is free. Good luck!

Vintage Cast Iron Carriage Horse Head Bust for Fence Post Cap Here is a great piece for your horse lovers out there. Would make a great addition to any collection. Recently picked the piece up at an auction This piece was made originally to set on a fence post as the head piece and it obviously did somewhere before I picked it up. Was rusty. But not too pitted from the exposure to the elements for some decades. Just gave it a good spraying with WD-40 to protect it from further corrosion. Nice detailing on the horse head. The horse is all harnessed up ready to take someone for a carriage ride. The cap the cast horse is attached to acts as a great base for the piece and has nice decorative detailing on it as well. The piece with the way the cap was made for the piece sits nicely on any flat surface. Does not need to be on a post. Just would ... moreneed to protect the surface it is sat on from the roughness of the cast iron. This is a very heavy piece. There is some sort of maker/model number on the back of the bust where it joins the base. Appears to be BO 160907. Only damage I see to it is a small piece of the cast iron hanging down from the yolk simulating a leather strap lost some of its' end. Chip to the front of the horse's right ear, and some minor chipping of the corners of the base. The cast iron horse head and base stands 17.75" tall. 5.25" across at the base, and 5.5" wide. The piece is about 6" wide when you take in the horse's snout extending further than the base. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Make sure that this item meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it. The item can be returned. But there is a $50 restocking fee to do so. So again. this is off a house that was built in 1904 so it is over 100 years old. I only have the one capital but I do have the four columns that are somewhat massive it came off of. Vintage Horse Head Post Cap - Newell Post
This Horse Head has really great look. It is well crafted and beautifully proportioned. The gray is some sort of base metal. That once had a coating of brass. The brass is mostly worn off, but the traces of it make a great accent. There is a hole in the top of the piece, where it looks like a finial may have been at one time. I think this was the top of post. It could be fashioned to be reused as that, but I think it would just be a great decorator piece on a shelf or mantle, placed on a stack of books or a stand. Description This is a great piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted. Three sides have 4 recessed panels each. The 4th side has 3. It has it's original cap. There is dentil molding below the cap. It is notched for the step but is freestanding. It measures 51.5 inches tall. 6.25 wide at the shaft, 8 wide at the base and 8.75 wide at the cap. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There is general wear for it's age. There are a few nail holes. Please look at the pictures carefully. Ref: 111362 Shipping.
